I assume it's designed for gas operations as well, or is it mostly tailored towards bolt?

I shot a Larue OBR but there were mostly bolt guns there. I think that that was because of the level of precision and the ranges that we shot at. A good quality gasser should have no issues. OBR, Gap-10, LMT MWS ect.. If you were to show up with something that wasn't at a MINIMUM a one MOA gun then you might \ struggle at the farther distances.

I was considering hitting up the spot in Acme to do a little load development this weekend, and I took a quick look at hunting season schedules and I didn't see any seasons open up there, but I'm not so good with seasons and locations since I don't really hunt. Is there anything going on up in that area that would result in angry hunters wondering why I'm touching off a bunch of rounds this weekend?

Alright guys I have finally decided next match will be december 10th, bring 100rds, and some warm clothes.

Price will be $40 and we will only be accepting 24 shooters total. For this and all future matches you must pay ahead of time and there will not be any refunds (unless weather stops us from shooting). cof will be up to 100rds but isn't 100% yet but promise it won't go over that.

As always i promise the cof will have some new twists and turns, no unknown distance, but fair amount of non prone shooting. Of course I will be building some new barracades for this one.

I will give the shww guys a head start on this before i post it in the tactical competitions section.

Hey guys anyone answer a question for me.
If I go with a larger contour, but fluted barrel, will I get more stiffness for the same amount of weight, but is it worth doing for a competition rifle, my current AMU contoured 28inch barrel does get fairly warm shooting string-fire in F-TR, about 20 rounds in 20 minutes. Will a fluted barrel hold their accuracy well when they are as warm. Thinking along the lines of an AMU contour with a lenght of 32 inches. (308)

mjh. I was told by Krieger that fluting will add rigidity to a brl of equal weight. So two brls of equal dia/taper, & length the fluted one will be lighter, but no more rigid. It will have a slight bit of surface area to dissipate heat so it would cool faster by a small percentage. I talked to Krieger at length about that when I bought my brl, & decided to go round, & save the money for a brake.

MG. I might be up there giving my camper a quick shake down before I leave for hunting next week. If so, I'll be at the sharp corner on the dead end rd.

Jeff, thanks I was going to ask Ron for his thoughts on it. Built an F/tr rifle but I would like the barrel a few inches longer to increase velocity, but unless its fluted I don't think the amu contour will work for because of the weight issues.

there is not a bunch of reasons that i see good to go with the fluting Marty!!

It does save weight but only by a very small amount. and it does cool but by an even smaller amount.

It looks Bad A!!! That is for sure

But will cost you another $120-150.

So, I've been putting my ass and resources to good use, and I think I'm in the right direction. Hopefully come this November I'll have an area here closer to Kitsap & Pierce where we can go out 500-1000+. I have to talk to some folks over at the DOT and get some overhead aerials for scouting...

my lesson learned was to NOT build, but to just buy a .260 Rem TRG-22 and be done with it. That's one very fine shooting rifle!

Guns West in Yakima has a few rifles set-up with them, if you just wanted to get the feel of them.
If you come to the match I'm sure there will be more than one rifle wearing that stock.
Beware, because when you see all of the nice rifles your head will start spinning. LOL
By looking at the rifles you have bought and sold here, I have a feeling you are a "gun junkie" waiting to really come out of your shell.

OK. I might put the lupy from my hunting rifle on the DPMS, & see if I can get a load worked up.
Since it's only a 16" brl. What weight bullet would you guys recomend? I've been running 150's, & 147's in it so far @ 2600fps with Varget.

Try the 155 Scenar, 155 Sierra Palma, 175 SMK. go for accuracy/ less drift as the match is known distance, wind will be your issue.

Good work Broker keep us posted. I know there's a lot of Pope resource land across the hood canal on the Coyle peninsula but I'm not sure what the rules are for target shooting there.
Anything for us Kitsap folks over 200 would be great !
We should really get a Kitsap group together even if its at one of the local ranges to shoot and shoot the shit, Maybe some fun SH dot drill targets for monthly bragging rights

In the next week or so I'll be posting 2 handmade Bill Bagwell knives for sale. They are 10-20 years old, and Mr. Bagwell is shipping them back to me this week. I returned them to Mr. Bagwell to have him get them up to his standards.

It'll be like throwing a basket ball.... and you'll have to be dead on with range since your approach angle is so steep. I like the 178 Amax, I get 2560fps out of my 20" without pushing it that hard.

Thanks guys. I just did some JBM work, & the 208 @ 2300 is 1 MOA lower than a 168 @ 2500 for 500yd, but is 3 moa flatter @ 1000. It bucks the wind better by almost 4 moa @ 1000 too. Maybe I'll give it a try when hunting season is over, & do the 12/10 match with it.
