Re: SHWW Group

Anyone know of how to get a hold of Benchmark? I have a rifle that was worked on by them that I'm having issues with and can't reach them on the phone. They're about an hour drive away and I've already run down there once and nobody was around so I want to confirm they're at the shop before making another trip.

Thanks!

Jake, that puts you about an hour away from me. There is a shooting range you might want to look into. http://www.tcsa.info/
That would put you about 2 1/2 hours from the Ellensburg shooting location.

Re: SHWW Group

As soon as possible. What can I do to help?
As far as the stages go I liked all of the last ones.
especially the smaller targets
So to make it better I'd say more of everything.
More dog house, roof tops, know your limits, and unsupported shooting

I am assuming this is JD??? You can help by bringing more buddies along and letting me know which days work best for you guys. I like the idea of in between thanksgiving and christmas. Probably not much paper because of the weather but hopefully i will have a steel hostage by then.

Scoring will change and target sizes but probably pretty similar cof to make things easier on myself honestly. don't be fooled though there will for sure be new barracades, time constraints.

Re: SHWW Group

I don't like the hostage target stages (me+gas-gun+hostage=fail)

I thought the Tee post was an improvement to shooting off hand, I'm sure some people can make some points shooting off hand, but most of the people I shot with in the past just felt like it was a waste of ammo, including myself.
I would like to see half of the paper stage be weak side, as it adds a little more challenge.
The first part of November would be a good time for the next match.

Re: SHWW Group

Late November is absolute earliest I would even consider, if you guys want to put together one sooner great but I nesrsta least two months to prepare. I can promise there will always be standing shots so either practice or continually lose the opportunity for points. Any true marksmen can shoot standing, it is a basic skill everyone should practice!!!!!!!

Atta boy Scott, if we all want to shoot what we excell at it would all be prone at known distance in no wind. Its nice to be forced to shoot outside of your comfort zone, positional shooting is a must for any match, like it or not.

Re: SHWW Group

Well until I get a DBM system, the various stage times for ole fumble fingers are generally plenty tight. I could go to a gas gun like Pat M, but I don't need any more ways to lose points...got that one figgered out already.
grin.gif
One idea about changing the COF would be to engage the distant targets first on a stage or two- We'd just have to crank the knobs down instead of up, and reduce windage-hopefully.

Scott, I think you put a fine match together! We all appreciate your efforts in promoting the sport and challenging us at each shoot.

Re: SHWW Group

whenever you plan the match i will be there.....its priority for me so whatever is good for everyone else is good for me
grin.gif
...i love the positional stuff....weakside, barricades, hostages...i will do whatever

Re: SHWW Group

I like shooting off obstacles, especially the doghouse. The KYL plate rack was awesome too. If you hold the match in early November, just don't do it the weekend of the 5th, I have a rifle class that weekend and I'd hate to miss the match.

Travis shouldn't be an issue because i won't even consider doing one during a elk/deer season for multiple reasons. it is looking like it will be an early december shoot so get ready to shoot from the hot extreme to the cold one.

So guys i am not hunting this year so let me know when deer/elk season is over because it will effect the match dates.

Re: SHWW Group

Question for you dry side guys. Which cell service are you using? I've been with verizon for yrs, but have had a lot of trouble with them over here, & even more when I'm over there hunting. I'm thinking about switching to AT&T. What do you think?

Re: SHWW Group

Jeff-
i've got verizon, but when you're in the mountains coverage is hit and miss. Around towns and in the "flantlands" it's ok, hunting areas coverage is generally not so great. I can't speak for ATT. Hope this helps.

Personally I LIKE Verizon better since my AT&T coverage is spotty at work. Well when Craig, you & I went shooting, I had coverage with AT&T when I was sending text messages.. But I wasn't paying attention if I had coverage over all the areas we went.

Re: SHWW Group

I have ATT and for me its the best overall for what I need, lots of traveling around the US. BUT if I was going to go with a cell company for the east side of the mountains it would be US Cellular. Those bastards have coverage in the craziest places in the middle of nowhere.

When we are up at elk camp up around Rimrock lake, the guys with verizon, att, etc etc all are left with nothing and my brother has full bars with US CEll.

Re: SHWW Group

Guys, I had a lot of tired brass that needed some help, so I sent it off to Bob Ariana (Killshot44) here on the Hide for cleaning and annealing. The results were amazing, the brass has definitely recovered some of its life and this showed when I reloaded some of it and the es and sd was considerably lower. If any of you have brass that needs restoration for want of a better word, don't hesitate to use Bobs service, its definitely worth it.

Re: SHWW Group

US Cellular does own most of the towers over there, but AT&T uses their towers, & Verizon uses their own unless there isn't one. Only then will it switch. When I'm @ hunting camp I will have 1 bar most of the time on Verizon, but if I walk over the hill about 100 yds it will switch to a AT&T with 4 bars. My buddy has US Cellular, & he rarely has any trouble up there. With Verizon, I also have days where I have 4-5 bars, but can't make a call, or receive one either, & that's in my house in town!

I have At&t it does not work up north (Mazama) very well, more miss than hit. Around the Wenatchee valley once you get off the valley floor no service.

Re: SHWW Group

Hey guys just posted an update and some pics from the course of fire for the Magpul PR2 course they run out in selah WA. If you haven't checked into these courses you definitely should. I think the word is going to get out in a big way next year after their video release. I encourage everybody to take advantage of this one in our "back yard" while you still can.

Re: SHWW Group, for the savage guys

Hey Guys, I have a young man in my youth ministry group that I want to reload some rounds for his hunting rifle.

I have some bullets I can give him but I am looking for some 300 WM brass and some 300 WM dies. If you can help will you please get ahold of me. Thanks a ton

Jake

Re: SHWW Group

I have dies for 300Wm, but I'll be using them for a week or so.(loading ammo for hunting season) Then you can borrow them for about a month while I'm off hunting. I also have a lot of brass that has about 8 firings on them, but are still in pretty good shape if you want to anneal them.
