Re: SHWW Group

Re: Findlaycup.net

Got the site up and running a couple days ago. I took a few of the better 'action' shots and cropped them for the header images - there are I think six different images that are randomly cycled thru as you go from page to page, or reload any given page.

If anyone has serious heartburn over their face being up there and wants their pics removed or at least 'fuzzed' let me know. As it is, nobody but those of us in the group know what face goes to what screen name, much less actual name. And then there are few ugly mugs that *I* wouldn't claim...

P.S. the helo videos from YouTube are now embedded in the front page, for anyone who hasn't already seen 'em.

Re: SHWW Group

Just got home from camping, and uploaded the photos to photobucket. I don't know if it will let people copy the photos from there, if not I can send them to people or maybe I'll just make a post in the comp section with all the pictures posted.
Thanks to Scott and everyone who helped make this match happen, it was my first civilian shoot and I had a lot of fun. I went in with a brand new rifle with almost no dope and a guesstimated drop chart, but I had it pretty close on day two. More importantly I got to meet a bunch of shooters that I hope to shoot with in the future! And now for the pictures:

Re: SHWW Group

ok if any one here had a R700 L/A with a .473 boltface and wanted to build a tac-comp/hunting rig what ould you build and why?....this is not my rifle its a friends and ive suggested a couple things and just wanted to know what you guys would do....thoughts?

forgot to mention trying to use the KISS method so no wildcats....

Re: SHWW Group

I would do:

- Any of the Manners Hunter Stocks with lightweight option (Maybe even there mini chassis if the offer it in these stocks)
- 280 remington
- DBM of some kind for Versatility
- Heavily fluted barrel in 24" oal or under

Re: SHWW Group

i suggested .30-06, .284win, and 7-08 so if anyone that has used or currently using any of these calibers tell me what you think....6.5x284 was also considered but barrel life is high on the list

I shoot a 7mm08 on a short action and really like it, but if I were using a long action it would be a 284 Win, no question about it.

Re: SHWW Group

Alan this is a no brainer for me 284 all the way. It truly shines in a long action, feeds awesome out of aics 300wm mags with no mode. I was pushing 162's at just over 3000fps in the one I built. Probably alittle hotter than it should be but 2950fps should be easy. To me if your only going to have one bolt gun 284 is the best choice, however I wouldn't recommend going any lighter contour than REM varmint they heat up pretty fast.

Re: SHWW Group

Just got my New 280AI from JD at HSSS ( goes by HSSS on the hide)which is a local guy out of Yakima area, info is below for anyone looking for work with a quick turn around. The Rifle turned out great! Still have to have him Paint the scope, rings, and atlas bipod.

I went with the 280AI since I would get 6rds in a 5rd 300wm and I should also get some pretty good barrel life. I should get some high velocities as well. I am planning on running 162amaxs, I also have some Nosler brass sitting here ready to be loaded up.

A range report will be done as soon as I have time, I just started a new job which has been 6days a week and barely enough time for diner let alone play time.

Sorry for the shitty pictures...never have been good with a camera.

Bathroom scale Weight-
9.5 lbs with no goodies
14.5 LBS Fully dressed as pictured.

6 Digit Rem 700 action blueprinted ( Barreled action Duracoated Tan)
280AI 24" Obermyer fluted 1/8.75 with AAC 51T brake
Manners 90% carbonfiber shell T4 w/minichassis in Desert GAP Camo
Atlas V8 bipod
NF 5.5-22x56 HS ZS NPR1/MOA with Seekins Rings

Re: SHWW Group

Hey guys, I'm looking for a local lawyer that handles cases hat revolve around child protective services or custody issues. Don't know if any of you have any expericence, but thought I'd ask. A lawyer we aready talked to, said to file te papers with the courts, it would cost $7k. Don't know if this is normal price range. Thanks ahead of time.

I am shooting the 162 A max's at 2800 fps with a 26" 3 groove Benchmark barrel, they shoot real well and I expect to have a lot of barrel life.

Re: SHWW Group

I'm relatively new here on the site, but i've been following this thread since I signed up. Do these shooting events in central washington happen often? It sounds fun, but my skill levels are no where near it should be to think of competing.

Good luck with your court case. 7k is a good start and probably won't cover all your court cost. Don't make the mistake of hiring a cheap lawyer, they will just cost you more in the long run.

Re: SHWW Group

You can hire attorneys by the hour, or by the job. You might want to ask how they are figuring out the cost...hourly, or just by the job.

Dr. Giggles is absoutely correct about hiring a good attorney. It is the same as what we say about buying equipment for our firearms. "Buy well, cry once, buy poorly, cry twice."

It is worth checking out costs from various attorneys, and asking people for their recommendations. If everyone you ask really likes one attorney, while only half of the people give the other one a lukewarm recommendation, that should be a strong indicator of who to hire.

Re: SHWW Group

Guys here are a ton of pics of the match. A big thank you to lucas girlfriend you did a fantastic job taking pics. Odds are if you attended you will be in multiple pics. She even took enough you can check out peoples different positionings from different stages and get some ideas for next time.

Re: SHWW Group

Awesome pics. I even saw a BSC shirt in there. I like the box thing. Diabolical looking stage. Looked like a lot of fun, too bad I had to miss it! Maybe next one. I could use a photographer for my next match. I'm hoping to have it up by Mazama next summer.

Re: SHWW Group

Craig,

Tell me what could be better, we wake up eat breakfast, ride for couple hours, ride the bikes down to the on site lake lounge/have few drinks, have lunch, take a nap, ride couple more hours, cleanup go out for a nice dinner, come back sit around campfire for alittle while, well you know what happens after that.

My wife really enjoys being active she does sprint triatholons, and all sorts of adventure sports. she's just not that into shooting yet, but give it time.

Re: SHWW Group

I have a couple of handmade Bill Bagwell knives that I was going to send off to be sold, but thought I would see if anyone here collects Bagwell's first. If anyone wants more info, let me know.
#1: 10.5 inch blade with stag handle. Classic fighting bowie shape.
#2: 9.5 inch blade with cocobolo coffin shaped handle. Blade on this one is a
little wider than the #1.

Both knives have the arched Bagwell signature and are 10-20 years old. I think they date from his time in Crowville, LA.

Re: SHWW Group

Just yanking your chain, Scott. It sounds like a fun weekend. Unfortunately my spouse doesn't seem to like the outdoor activities like she did early in our relationship/marriage.

Looks like a fun match, I'll have to try to make the next one. I spent ten days archery elk hunting instead, got into 'em but couldn't put it together. I'm going to try to make the next match!

Hello all,

I'm going back to Bremerton in a few weeks. I've been stationed in Bremerton a few times before, but this should be my last sub before I retire. Just checking in and looking forward to shooting with you all.

Thanks for the thread,
