How about something along the lines of a match in which you travel by quad or dirt bike and have a course that's spread out over say 40 miles of trail/road. It would likely just be a day event, but could be multiple days as well. Say there was maybe 10 firing points which each have multiple targets, and a shotgun start format. While the hike and pack all your shit idea sounds good on the internet, I see that as a logistical nightmare and could end up with some serious safety concerns/liability.

Let me know if anyone's interested and I may try to set something up for late fall or most likely next spring.

This sounds awesome. I almost always have my quad at the shoots we do out here on the olyimpic peninsula and i ride to the different points its really fun. Keep me posted for sure.

Re: SHWW Group

hey guys, just curious... is there a shoot in early september by chance or late august? i am fixin' to be en route navy took longer than i thought possible to decide to cank my orders and fire me. ( lovin' those cutbacks!)

Re: SHWW Group

Ditch... I think TSI is planing on putting something together in that time frame... if I remember correctly.

Rotor.... been a long time since the last O.P. shoot.... any word from the ghosts on that side? ......just sayin'....

Re: SHWW Group

Last I heard the TSI shoot was on 9/10-11. Haven't heard if it was in E-Burg, or Moses Lake.
I called DSM a month ago or so, & he was still without stick. Haven't heard from BW in months...
Yep. Called DSM a little while ago. Still no stick.

If I can actually get everything together in time, I'm thinking the High Mountain Adventure Shoot has to be on 8/27-28/11. Otherwise I'll save that for next year, so I have more time to get everything set up, etc. So, who all is actually interested? Anyone volunteer to help set up? We would have to meet in Mazama, & I'll lead the way to the base, where everything will start.

Yo Yo Yo Father F'rs!

Been out to Stud lately...but a bun is in the oven and sadly the firearm re-acquirement will be set back even further. But I would like to come and RSO a stage or two. Talking with Bigwheels got me thinking about putting on another shoot at Hopps'.....you all keep safe and always, always, always show RSO that firearm is clear!

Re: SHWW Group

I am going to be working in the Seattle, WA area, and likely spending 2-3 weeks at a time there. Can anyone recommend some good ranges within an hours drive or so from the downtown area that I can go shooting at up to about 1000 yards?

Re: SHWW Group

Thanks for posting the results, Jim. Bet it was just a little warm towards the end of the shooting today. Only 4200 rounds...hmmm probably sounded like the 4th of july at the range.

Re: SHWW Group

thanks for the great shoot Jim and Jesse, i had an absolute blast. I never have shot against a clock before, and it highlighted the areas of weakness rather well. Better form and practice will fix that.

Spare Kidney for Sale or trade for guns and gear. Thanks Jim.

This is a GREAT group of folks!

Re: SHWW Group

Ah yes, I know there is a big shelter up there. Stanwood is a great location for long range shooting, it really puts you in the thick of things as far as getting to matches.

Re: SHWW Group

wait till he finds out about the rain and no SBR's, he will be talking her out of it.

hell Stanwood is one exit north of me. move on up and join the party.

Re: SHWW Group

Stanwood is pretty centralised for shoots around here. There is a place to shoot out of Darrington.(don't know exactly where) I do most of my shooting out of Acme, & there are guys in Stanwood, I'm in Anacortes, & there are guys in Monroe, & Bellingham too.

So are there any more potential takers for a High Mountain Adventure Shoot (H-MAS) on 8/27-28/11? Would still need some volunteers to help get things set up too. I just did some quick testing @ 4000' ASL with the new 225's, & I think my dope is right on. I'm ready.

Re: SHWW Group

She tossed her hat in the ring, we'll see where it goes.

Maybe something'll happen, maybe 'll come up if she gets it, maybe nothing will happen, maybe a lathe will fit in the garage here where all the animal stuff is, only time will tell

I would DEFINATELY like in on this but I gotta ask uncle sam for the time off. Is this date set finalized?

There's a couple towns that have outlawed certain breeds, but none north of Seattle. Auburn would be the biggest Nazi city when it comes to dogs...

Re: SHWW Group

Fun match as usual Jim. Everything went smoothly and we finished just in time. Good to see everyone and test out some new toys.

Guys, the 2012 Findlay cup is going to be one of the premier matches. Lots of new stuff with some of the typical JTP surprises thrown in.

The date is set, but the likelyhood of getting everything ready by then is not. I still need a couple guys to make arrangements to help out in the next few weeks.

Re: SHWW Group

Wow... flurry of activity...

Congrats to Travis, Tyler & Alan... top three finishers, in that order. Nice shooting guys!

Thanks SOOOO much to Jim & Jesse, for throwing this thing together! Although no ballads will be written of my own shooting prowess (
laugh.gif
frown.gif
I actually managed to earn a booby prize

).... I've got to say, this ranked as some of the most fun I've had, behind a smoking barrel! Hits or misses, I COULD NOT wipe the smile off of my face! Something about blasting away, as fast as you can, over a five minute course of fire, littered with steel.... Man... it just don't get ANY better! As Jesse kept advising.... "The only thing worse than a miss.... is a SLOW MISS".

SO thanks to you two, I'm now officially double fucked... one more discipline to chase down the rabbit hole! I'm already short on time, brain space..... and.... money.... just what this OCD riddled dude needed..... so yeah.... thanks .... I think.

That said... it was a lighter turn out, than Jim had anticipated... which for something thrown together, off-the-cuff like this, is understandable. For those of you guys that are sitting on the fence... know this... from the highest score, to the lowest score, this thing was all laughs, and smiles, all day long. If you like trigger time with an accelerated heart rate... the time is now, to jump in with both feet.

The reputation of Jim's matches are growing, and if you ain't on the inside track early, you may find it very hard to see the field later. The 2012 Findlay Cup, is going to another level... start jumping in on these local opportunities.... before they're snatched from your grasp. As fast as some of these "Top Matches" fill up these days, it is truly a blessing to have this local resource.... the stuff that Jim is doing, is as cool, or cooler than most any of the "Big Matches" around the country.... when word gets out, it won't be as simple as driving a couple of hours, with $40 bucks in your pocket, and a trunk load of ammo....

Good to see all of you guys yesterday.... Shoot Straight.

Re: SHWW Group

Sobr..... welcome aboard! Great group of guys here... the weather may take some getting used to... your sun, is our rain.... you'll just likely learn to enjoy driving mountain passes... ...or... ...just being wet.

Love the idea in principle, but is a no-go date for me unfortunately (also, unlikely my rifle will be back together by then).

Re: SHWW Group

first off big thanks to jim and jesse for the sweet shoot, i haven't had that much fun shooting in along time. possibly more addictive the bolt guns.

Sobr man would love to have you in the area, bring your warm clothes because you are going to freeze your ass off up here in the nw.

bigs if you want to do your match on the 10-11th i would be happy to cancel mine and come shoot yours. i don't have a ton of time on my hands for setup currently.

Re: SHWW Group

Thanks TSI. But the archrey deer season opens on 9/1 up there, & it will be a zoo come the dawn. Probably wouldn't have room to park everyones rigs, let alone do any shooting. The more I think about it, I think that a real match on this time frame is out of the question. Maybe a small get together to scope it out on that weekend should be doable. I could get some of the legwork ready for a match up there either later in the yr, or more likely next year. Maybe I'll do BSCIV up there in the late spring/early summer.
So, if anyone wants to meet up there on 8/27, we can do some shooting, & some scouting. Be a good chance to check your DA come up's etc. if nothing else.

Re: SHWW Group

PM sent with destination for meet up. I'll probably be heading up on Fri. the 26th, & camp out the weekend, so you can meet me Fri. if you can make it, or I'll come back down to the meet in the AM. Hope for cool temps, & no forest fires.

Re: SHWW Group

Jim & Jesse's 3 gun was a ton of fun, learned a lot and had a blast. hope someone posts some pictures soon. I was on the fence on what squad i wanted to shoot with, i like shooting with my friends but need to shoot with some of the other wet-side guys some more (that way i will also remember their names)

Re: SHWW Group

Hey guys I need your help. I am an MOA guy and I REALLY want to get a spotting scope that has an moa recticle in it that has good optical quality (US optics is horrible glass) I found a company that would be willing to make a run of scopes but I need enough people who are seriously interested. Here is the posting I made

MOA Spotting Scope Group Buy

If you can think of anyone who would be interested send them to this link. Thanks Everyone! [color:#FF0000][/color]

Re: SHWW Group

I spent all last week involved in a week long shoot on Ft Lewis (50m - 900m) and we had four USO spotting scopes that we used a lot. I found the glass to be just fine. Their eye relief is like a rifle scope and is a pain to use. Their FFP inch per hundred (IPH) reticle is handy and eisier to use. We also had our Leupold 12-40X60 gold ring spotting scopes and their glass was a bit better than the USO scopes. The Leupold MK4 12-40X60 has a mil dot reticle. Will that fit your needs?

Re: SHWW Group

Unfortunately Leupold doesn't make the mark 4 spotter in MOA. When I was out shooting with some friends I looked thru two USO spotting scopes that day along with my Leupold HD and I wasn't expecting much of a difference in optical quality but man I was astounded how poor quality the image was with both USO scopes compared to the Leupold. I don't know if it was two scopes that were bad. But I mean it was REALLY different in the image quality. I should have taken a picture but it was BAD. I played with all the focus and zoom knobs to make the image better but it still didn't look any better.
