GAP-10
22" 1-11 5R Bartlein Stainless Match barrel
POF Sniper/Hunter Handguard
Magpul PRS Stock & Grip FDE
POF Big Handle with Badger Ordnance Tac-Latch
Single Stage Match trigger, tuned to 3 1/2 pounds
Surefire 7.62SSAL Muzzle Brake
Troy Battle Sights Micro FDE

Badger TRAMP (Sending back because it doesn't clamp tight)

Since it's being used in more of a range environment I went longer on the barrel. I still need to pick up a USO 3.2-17 when I get the funds. In the mean time I'll put some down range with good ole BUIS and watch the other people look at me like "Wtf?" Lol...

To Be Purchased and added later...

USO SN-3 or T-Pal 3.2-17

Not sure, but it's not as bad as you'd think. A few operators were playing around with it and commented it was lighter than they expected, but it's definitely not petite. I'll see about getting it on a scale sometime soon. Besides, I need the exercise lol...

The hand guard is 11 3/4". The muzzle brake makes it look shorter too. I'll work on getting a better side profile shot when the rain lets up...

Re: SHWW Group

I got out today and started on some loads in the 7WSM shooting the 180 SMKs. The extra throat length in my barrel as well as it being built on a long action are great, and they let me really pack the case with powder to take advantage of the melonited bore. With 68 grains of H4831SC I managed to send a 180 SMK over 3100 fps. There were the beginnings of pressure signs there though, so I backed it down to 66.5 grains and it looks like it's going to shoot pretty well right there, and I'm still seeing 3040fps with the 180s.

Re: SHWW Group

Sounds great MG. I'm going out tomorrow (weather permitting) to do a ladder test with the 225's, & H-1000. I want to see if I can match the velocity of the Retumbo with a little more room to spare. Then I may go for 1950yd again just 'cause. I need to do some clearing around the tgt's anyway. Damn Fire Weed!!! May Day went out for a little while yesterday, & shot the 500yd tgt's through the weeds. Sounded like fun.

That's screamin' for sure! You're gonna be hearing the steel ring past 1500! Is it accurate?

I only had a few rounds left after chronoing and it was pissing rain, but I had no trouble keeping them inside a 1" circle at 100 yards while I was laying on rocks. I'm going to hit up my local range and work on seating depths and fine tuning and I anticipate no problems with accuracy.

May be a dumb question, but to be a second something has to be wrong. Are thye still accurate and worth picking up??

Re: SHWW Group

Stanwood-most are cosmetic blemishes. Occasionally you'll get a bad tip, but my experience has been that they shoot just as good as firsts. You may have to toss a few from your visual inspection-but I think they're a good buy.

You might give H1000 a try as well. My new one is running the 180 Bergers at 3050fps in a 26" barrel as well. 66 gr of H4831SC also gets me in the 3025fps range. The H1000 just does it with a little less pressure is all and is more stable than the H4831.

I tried H1000, and with 67 grains I only saw 2953. 67 grains was just getting to be a compressed load, though I could probably get a little more in there. I only loaded rounds up to 67 grains with the H1000 to test though, and I didn't try to put any more after that figuring that even if I got a little more in I wouldn't pick up another ~100fps.

I headed back to my crappy local range to shoot my 4831 loads and they seem to give me very little vertical dispersion, but I did get a lot of horizontal, which I blame on the fact that the "benches" that you are forced to shoot from wobble significantly if you lean against them at all. I'm going to head to a proper range where I can shoot prone this weekend and gather some more data before the JTP match on the 30th.

Re: SHWW Group

Jim, will the pistol portion be set up like it was at the Findlay Cup? Do we have to wear the pistol the whole match, or can we just put it on for the pistol part.

TSI: Assuming we don't have to wear the pistol the whole time, and you're right-handed I have a Glock 19 setup that I am going to use that I will let you use when you shoot. You just supply the factory ammo that you'll use.

Re: SHWW Group

You won't need to wear the pistol the whole match, but you will need a decent holster that will keep it held while running. If you choose to wear it when not needed and it falls out your day will likely end in a DQ. We'll have a safety area at each of the firing points where you can stash your extra guns that aren't being used for that COF.

Scoring for this match will be some form of time + penalties similar to USPSA scoring, we just haven't figured out how much the penalties are going to cost you yet. Likely 5 sec for a failure to neutralize (target with insufficient hits) and 10 sec for a failure to engage. Since it's all based on time, shoot fast and a lot as the only two things that matter are hits and time.

As far as the high volume pistol COF, it'll likely be around 75 rounds.....and it's ok if your buddies load mags while you shoot. Remember, this is a fun match.

Re: SHWW Group

alright guys you suckered me in, now i need a recommendation for a red dot or sometype of 3 gun style sites for my ar 15.

Also i know this is crazy but did any of you guys stock pile 223 pmags i could use a few extras.

I'd run some version of a 1-4x scope. That's the best compromise I've seen.

Re: SHWW Group

I can bring some extra pmags if you want to borrow them.

As for a sight, I run a Nightforce 1-4 on my AR, but if you're looking to go with a red dot Aimpoints are pretty much the standard.
