Here's the deal. I've searched everywhere. I can not find a definitive answer. Situation: just bought 716 3-gun, want to run a PRS on it reliably. I can't find any where where someone has posted an acceptable result when installing one, or a list of he exact parts used to make it run reliably. The only threads hat I'm able to find are people saying the damn thing FTF, & FTE, once changed out. If anyone has swaped into one of these please share parts list and results. Otherwise I'm thinking I'll have to use the UBR, which doesn't have the adjustablity that I'm looking for.

Thanks guys.

PS. Excuse typos, doing this from my phone

Where exactly are people posting about FTF's and FTE's after installing a PRS on the 716? I've yet to come across that.

How do you know they put the proper buffer in it after the install? A lot of peeps, THINK they know what they're doing, do whatever it is improperly, then immediately post all over the net about what a piece of shit something is. When in reality, the wrong part was used, or the user fucked something up to begin with. I.e.; putting a carbine buffer in the PRS, or using an AR15 rifle buffer, instead of a 308 rifle buffer.

I've never liked the UBR. I would get the PRS, and install it using the correct parts. If you have issues, I would take pics, and make a detailed inquiry. Maybe even an email to Sig with the pics.

Edit: Just found HSmart's thread here. It's up in the air. But I typically go by "the simple solution is usually the correct one".... Occam's Razor n all that.

I've put the PRS on 2 308 Carbines (LMT and Armalite) and not had a single problem. As noted above just get the correct 308 buffer, recoil spring and receiver extension and you'll be gtg. I got mine from Brownells. I have a 716 but have the Magpul ACS on it.

I'm not here to see if they put the proper anything on their rifle. What I'm trying to do, is avoid purchasing a multitude of parts to try and piece together the proper combo through trial and error and spending way to much $ to figure it out, when someone has already done it. The only part that I'm fairly certain that I can get is a rifle length buffer tube. The right buffer and spring combo,( I'm talking about particulars here, not just a rifle length spring and buffer). So like XYZ brand, and model of spring. XYZ brand of buffer, and model. Would make it really nice.

I'm not just talking on SH for looking into this. I googled it and checked every post damn near that hit on sig 716 prs install. They are all very vague, and many were only complaints. Thanks again for the help.

Then you miss the point entirely.

Putting a PRS stock on the rifle is not going to cause an otherwise functioning rifle into a non-functioning one. UNLESS... The improper parts were used.

And it's an easy mistake; Sometime the wrong buffers get shipped from a company, and there are no identifiable markings sometimes, distinguishing the a 223 rifle buffer, from say, a 308 rifle buffer. Sometimes the springs aren't what they should be, unbeknownst to the buyer.

Now I'm following your thought.

Anyway do you know what the proper items would be??

I would talk with the techs at Brownells for guidance on exactly what parts you need. They have a 100% guarantee on anything they sell. That's what I did when I installed my first PRS. I agree that with the correct parts your 716 should run.
