What is up with all the Amazon gift card ideas? When did everyone here go woke? Get a Milwaukee, home depot, lowes, cabelas, scheels, hell even duluth gift card.
You know what I take to every wedding reception I get invited to? An extension cord. A nice thick one. You move into your new place together and you need one. My wife brings a nice quality knife and cutting board.
If things don't go well, he can use the cord on his MIL and your niece can stab him while he uses the board as a shield. I quietly tell them all that same thing.

If she is a good kid, you like her, -you do what you do and support her the way you dictate. Not her Moms stuck up I'm the boss California clicky narcissistic rules. The groom will appreciate it, your SIL will hate you for it that you didn't subject yourself to her rule, so it's an all around win.
Take guns, lots of places to shoot on the way, and don't give anything but what you decide.

I have a half-brother that lives two hours from me. He hated me as a kid (14 years older), tried to break my mom and dad up. Total shit to me. I'm 42 now, and won't lift a finger to help him. I doubt I'll even show at his funeral.

Weddings make people selfish sometimes. My best friend in college got married in Miami on Orange Bowl weekend about 30 years ago. He was pissed when I told him I couldn't afford to be in his wedding, which was true at the time. Would have had to spring for the tux rental and 4 days in a motel due to their shitty scheduling.

He never completely got over it, and I moved on. Such is life.

Half of the family is staying in Las Vegas for a few days on the way up, and the other half is coming from Phoenix area.

They registered on Amazon and every gift they want is $500-1500.

I told my wife to slip a dollar in one of those complimentary Christmas cards the elk foundation gave us and write the words "covid says fuck you".

I had a team come through for work and one of the assholes had been to Vegas and had covid and had to go home. He actually attended a funeral and killed off a few more people (old fat people in Louisiana, of course covid is like a hand grenade in that situation). His fat ass recovered.

Wife says I am not allowed to do that and is distraught over the fact that her only sister's oldest brat is getting married.

Im part of the religion and I wasn't able to got to my own older sisters ceremony. They could only go once they'd been married themselves. Also the rooms aren't all that big either. This one (or the one other one that looks exactly like it) is where I got married. This is the Payson Temple.

The ceremony is a little different than many of you might be thinking. Paraphrased it are you doing this of your own choice, do you take this person, and different blessings. The answers are yes instead of I do. Exactly the same every time except for the names. After the required part there is some advice offered from the officiator (all men most of whom are of retired age). There is no exchange of rings. There is no exchange of vows written by the people getting married. All pictures are taken outside.

Being around another 1000 people for several hours is why we are not going.

Other family that have been more heavily coerced into going (wife's parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and so on) but are a bigger part of the problem.
