Well, If God isn't male or at least has male attributes that complicates things with Mary.
In college I had a philosophy prof try and tell the class that either Christ came from Joseph and it was hidden from history or that Mary asexually created a fertilized egg and used animals - bugs and amphibians - to justify his point. Everyone agreed he had lost his marbles while we went on for an hour about this. It really came out later that he hated religion and was singularly focused on tearing everything down from all religions that he could. That kind of bias delegitimized everything else he had to say that semester - none of the positions he argued from after that could be trusted as being neutral or geared toward making us actually think about anything. Our final term paper was to argue for the morality of abortion, the other side was not allowed to be discussed. That was the class that open my eyes as a young dude how higher ed is focused on indoctrination and not teaching.
