The idiot DA has probably just poked the wrong bear. I lived in Missouri for 20 years. They have been fairly successful civil rights attorneys in the dog-eat-dog St. Louis area, not some whiskey tango bubba. They may very possibly end up burning that goose-stepping socialist crotch-sniffer to the ground before it's over. And it will get really delicious if they're attacked in their home since they have the right to security. And they have no previous criminal record. You may hear that intruders were shot by private security breaking in the dwelling. If that home is damaged or they are hurt, you'll see St. Louis selling body parts to pay for that lawsuit...

You don't need charges to get a search warrant. Just a request to search for evidence in support of a crime there is probable cause to believe happened.
Probable cause means you're about 51% sure a crime occurred.
You are making the assumption that some of the previous gun related incidents were not planned.

These protestors broke down a locked gate on their property and entered without permission.
I don't understand why they would be given a search warrant. There is video and public statements by them. It's clear they had firearms. I'm pretty sure I know why the da wanted a warrant - harassment.

You seem to have the same misunderstanding that I have - that English words have a definition that is commonly understood. In some not too uncommon cases a word will have more than one definition depending on how it is used. Yes, the word probable means more likely than not, i.e., greater than 50%. However if you are one of the robed tyrants, it is just like any other word. It can mean anything you want it to mean to rationalize the desired outcome.
Case in point, many states have DWI roadblocks that routinely detain and search people not "particularly described" in their warrant to yield DWI arrests of usually around 2% of the people detained. They might get another 1% for defaulted traffic or parking tickets. It stands to reason that the detention of 98% innocent people means they never met the probable cause threshold to begin with. Yet they continue. Judges keep issuing the warrants.
You can indict a ham sandwich. You can get a search warrant for any fishing expedition.
Because of the targets, this is one of those rare cases where those affidavits used to apply for the warrant and the reasoning to conclude probable are actually going to be scrutinized.
These wasn't simple trespass or protests. These was the same organized mob that had been rioting, committing arsons, vandalism and assaults and had publicly announced they were going to expand their mayhem to the suburbs with the law enforcement pretty much "giving them room to destroy" no doubt on specific instructions from their political masters. I'll bet those circumstances were omitted from the affidavit(s) and the judge that issued the warrant had no idea that any of this was going on.

As was mentioned, the protestors, were on their way to the Mayors house, breached the main gate to the gated community, then they broke thru the private gate of the homeowners. That in itself, would make me take a stand, firearm in hand (although I would NOT be pointing it at anyone) and make my presence known. Hopefully that would be enough to deter anyone that would have any other ideas, because I'm old, crippled and I believe I would feel very threatened at that point in the situation.
