1st off a few vendors have these as discontinued. Are they no longer making them? They seem to get good reviews and are supposedly US made. Use would be on lightweight carbines mostly in thick brush so don't need a big illuminator. We're running tlr2 eye safes right now and weren't going to upgrade for a bit but these look like a good fit.

I have the mini scout vampire and like it quite a bit for a lightweight carbine. I do prefer a pressure pad option but if you don’t need that the pistol one should be good based on a few other vampire ones I have.

This is the one I was looking at. Could have sworn you could plug a pressure switch into it but now I don't see it. Pressure switch is a must so if not back to the drawing board.

Eta looks like they sell a tale cap for the x series weapon lights. I'm assuming this would work on the one above? Honestly all sure-fires different models confuse the shit out of me.

Looks like it takes switches, though I'm not entirely sure how.
At the bottom of the features list, under construction details:
"
  • Accepts optional pistol grip and long gun forend switches

Yes the X400V has been discontinued. The Masterfire holster version is still being made though. For the X400 you would get the XT00 tail cap and whatever version of our tape switch that you would want to run on your long gun.

Thanks. I have one on the way and am working on getting another one used. Are parts going to remain available or are there some consumables I should try to get? We have our remote streamlight switches shaved to fit in tango down vfg. I think these were made to fit your switches so should be plug and play.

No real consumable items that you need to stock pile parts for. Tail caps have been the same for a decade plus and anything else would pretty much have to come back to us to get checked out if busted.

Amazon still has 'em. The IRC model, not the Masterfire version. $662. I'm one of the ones that begged them to make this shit twenty years ago.

MSRP on the Masterfire is like $800 something so even with the .mil discount you'll come out cheaper with the IRC. Unless you're set on their $200+ kydex holster, I'd go with the IRC and something from Off the Grid Concepts (to name one custom holster maker, who even makes this shit in IWB if you can believe it). When they came out there were no holster solutions (short of nylon tacos or repurposed mag/radio pouches) and nobody carried a light anyway. Not true anymore.

The original X200 displays came with a blue glock wired to a 2x4 with 16 penny nails... I doubt you can fuck one up. The V light bezel is pretty solid too and there are no bulbs like with the pre-x2-400 shit.

I don't know but I'd imagine you could change out the entire head if one went bad somehow... That's how you convert a standard Surefire light to a V light anyway.

Have 2 of them now. We're running them on carbines. Have them on the right side now where our white lights used to be but am thinks of moving them to the bottom of the rail where it seems they would be more out of the way. I don't see that much except on subguns. We are very rural so don't have any worries about them getting beat up on window sills or barriers.

They definitely seem more rugged than the tlr2 eye safes we were running before. Lasers are rated the same but the X400irc seems brighter and has a crisper dot. I like the soft ir illuminator which helps cut down on glare in the heavy brush. I'll probably get a Luna or similar for the rare times when we need more throw.

We're running old school tango down switch grips. Not my favorite but my wife likes them and I want both carbines the same. I'm assuming I need this switch to fit the grip and plug into the tailcap above. Our streamlight switches had to be shaved to fit but I think the grip was designed for the surefire.
