The titanium recoil lug would complicate things if he wants to use that like on the Apollo. My point is that it's easier said than done, but I'm confident that Joel would do it well.
I agree, that's pretty much what I was saying when I said it would complicate things.
Has anyone tested POI shifts due barrel getting bumped or hit hard, when just using the set screws. I am having a hard time deciding between the Apollo with a WTO switchlug or going with the Zeus.
I do not have a Zeus, but I do have the Vector. While I have not smacked mine with a hammer, the rifle (in a soft case) took a fall after I finished with my range session a few months ago. I was just checking zero a weekend before a local match, and threw it back in the case and leaned it up against a post. It fell... Hard! Took it back out and re-shot a group. Same zero.
I just ordered a Zeus and they have an option to have full threads and no quick change option. I chose the longer threads.
I did the same. I just trust a fully threaded barrel more.
I have a switch barrel as well,. But for my intended use which is beating the shit out of it I like having the security of 80-100 foot pounds.
I was assured by Joel that the quick change is just as consistent and I believe him but I have a barrel vise and it’s just as easy to pop it in there and change the barrel so I prefer the full thread and torque just for piece of mind at a match.
Nice, I'm assuming that's the .725" bolt version? Could we get some more glamour shots?

Watch out for the bolt knob...mine came loose...need to add some loctite and torque it down by hand.

nice looking product I would suggest if you are not doing so already a few videos showing off your actions as there is nothing on you tube except a few on set screws for the trigger and barrel nothing showing what is different about your product from any other action out there . I'm having a 260ai built using a Terminus Zeus. The reciever should be at the Smith's shop in the next couple weeks... I like my Axiom, but wanted to give Joe's Russos refined model a try.
Out of curiosity I mounted the Zeus on a KRG Whiskey chassis and tried a few magazines to see how it would feed (No bbl attached), using 6.5 PRC. And also to see if there were any bolt binding on the feed lips and overall fitment.
Mags I tried:
Accurate Mag 308 (no binder)
Accurate Mag 300 WSM (no binder)
AI AW 308
AW308:
Obviously the AW fit the best in the mag well and perfectly lined up with the bottom of the action. Nice and tight fit none to very little wiggle. Also surprised it clicked in. I had thought I would need to file down the mag-catch (Maybe that's on the Bravo only?). Feeding 6.5 PRC went really smooth! However because of the larger diameter, any jarring or bumping of the AW+6.5PRC combo and cartridges will pop out loose, possibly cause double feed.
Accurate 300WSM:
At its lowest position the bolt will slightly ride the lips. Push on the mag at the rear and the bolt will be blocked. The Whiskey 3 SA doesn't have a Mag stop like the LA version. Feeding works fine but not as smooth as with AW.
Accurate 308:
These actually fit slightly better than the 300WSM. Doesn't taper as much. Pushing up on rear of the mag will block the bolt.
I also picked up some ARC mags to try out.
This was done without the bbl installed so results may differ.

MPA without stop-- MDT mag, accurate Shmag- accurate 308, Aw.. none stop the bolt from sliding, however if I lift the entire rifle up by the magazine it will slightly glide on aics/mdt mag. This is a full MPA with weight Kit.
MPA with stop-- zero issues with any, again this was with me holding the entire rifle up by just the mag.
MDT acc-- a very slight glide on just the AI type mags but no bolt stoppage. Magazine could be adjusted to stop this but personally I do not rest my rifle on mag.
Manners- bolt will not pass with pressure (aics), I remember somebody posting about a different type of bottom metal that would relieve this problem. I'll have to look back and find out which one. This is all done with excessive pressure upwards on magazine, no pressure no issues.

Redeye3- have you started your comparison of the Zeus to the old V? Very much interested in the comparison.
The above post you did with the mag testing is very interesting. I have the MPA plastic pieces and on my V I could not tell any difference. maybe I put in wrong?
Thanks for testing that. If you can pick it up by the mag and no binding, that's impressive. Did you try and feed it that way? Wondering how it will feed.

I have done a comparison and although Joel designed them both he perfected the Zeus, the mag testing (with/without dummy rounds) proves this. As i mentioned above the bolt slides across the top of the mag (aics) when pressure is put upward on mag (a good amount). Now add .025 to the bolt and see what u get. The Zeus in Mpa(aics mag) with plastic stop fed perfect with 21.5 pounds on mag,lol no bipod needed
I also had grinding from the V with AW mags from the start in my new MPA and I had to take off about .025 off mag catch. Sooo all testing aside the .725 bolt is going to make things run better(less fckery). I have another new mpa coming which I'll test when I get my hands on it.
I'm not bashing the V its been great to me, just stating what I have seen. The V was sold as AW mag acceptable, not aics & aw. So they designed 1.5 V which has a stop below feed ramp (relief cut) which stops the front of the (Aics) mag from upward travel(Not the back). The Zeus and 1.5 V both have that same feature, I had a buddy test a defiance deviant the same way I tested the Zeus and he had bolt stoppage with both AW&Aics (XLR chassis). So from what I can tell its not easy to design an action that has a front&back stop for Aics mags that can run AW's. (If anyone knows another 3lug that can do this with 20lbs on the mag please let me know).

Zeus on a Whiskey 3. Pics of AICS 300WSM (Accurate-Mag). Feeds fine. If you're worried about binding due to pushing on rear of mag...quick fix some duct tape on the mag body to stop it from riding up further. Same thing happens on my Origin with Magpul mags.
AW mags feed the smoothest. AX308 mags won't fit, looks like the front of the mag extends a bit.

@texasfrog sure! I'll do a range report when i can get the 6.5CM bbl. It will be a 26" Proof Competition Contour bbl. Right now i have a 22" 6.5PRC bbl on it. I've got 2 other 6.5PRC rifles i'm shooting now, so i'm gonna hold off from shooting this bbl.

knob came loose again as i was manipulating the bolt and dry firing. I re-Loctite it again, but if it comes loose again, will have to spend some dollars on Rockset.
I also noticed that there is quite a lot of bolt handle bounce when i release the striker (pull the trigger). with a dummy cartridge i the chamber, this is not that bad. My Factory 700 does this, but nowhere near as much. My Origin's bolt doesn't even bounce. (haven't checked my TL3 yet) I'm sure there's not accuracy issues with this, but just a personal preference.
A video i found on Youtube, the fella has a Axiom, and the bolt handle does bounce.
Anyone else experience bolt bounce?
Update: The BigHorn bolt handle does "twitch" but not as much movement or "bounce" as the Zeus.

Are you using blue or red loctite? Had the same situation with the wife's LP Fuzion, bolt handle kept coming loose with blue loctite. Was driving me nuts, so I hit it with some red loctite and so far that's seemed to fix the problem.
By bolt bounce, do you mean the bolt handle bounces up just a bit when fired? I believe the wife's LP Fuzion does that as well, just bounces a tad. I want to say my Defiance Deviant in .300NM has a bit of bounce to. Honestly, I don't think it's much of a concern, not if it's fairly minor movement.
I used Blue (red bottle). That's all i have. The bolt handle bounce quite a lot compared to any of my other actions. Of course with a chambered round (dummy case), the handle doesn't bounce as much but still more than my other actions.
Right about 1 minute mark. You can barely see the bolt handle bounce. Mine is similar, maybe slightly more bounce.
Will see if my 308 bolt foes this, but its on order.
That's pretty minimal bounce - I'm not around my rifles right now, but I'm fairly certain a few of mine do that as well as I mentioned above. I'm not a gunsmith, but that wouldn't personally concern me if the gun was shooting good.
Red loctite should do the trick. Blue loctite didn't work at all for me on the Fuzion bolt handle. Alternatively rocksett should work as well, as you mentioned.

Yes, I have the same bolt bounce. You are only noticing it now because you are dry firing. Live rounds, it is the same as every other action I have. I, too, also have the loose bolt knob. Annoying, but I finally got enough blue loctite in there.
Had a 700 once that bounced that bad it was due to the cocking piece hitting the bolts caming surface when fired. Removed the handle and had it rewelded into proper position and the bolt quit bouncing all together. As these have one piece bolts I think the issue is no thrust on the bolt face (while using neck sized brass) and nothing for the firing pin to contact in an action designed to have no issues in harsh conditions.

A word of advice with Loctite, because of the materials and coatings used on Actions if it is older style Loctite, it may need Loctite “primer” because older Loctite wouldn’t always set with Non-Ferrous or coated metals. Newer Loctite has taken care of that, but I know some of my bottles for basic household use have lasted quite a while so if you have trouble with it not working, this might be worth checking into. I do not know if the Permatex brand Loctite has updated or not, but the Henkel/Loctite brand has.
So I've been playing around with the Zeus and it's smoothing out real nice. Light bolt lift for a 3 lug...feels lighter than some of my 2 lug actions. Closing the bolt is pretty smooth, comparable to my BH Origin, though slightly more.
Just a note, I'm using a KRG Whiskey 3 with TT Diamond. I had to take some material/aluminum off the chassis so that the TT would go in to safety. Hope that helps out someone who might be using the same components i am.
