When I was in High School there were two kids with questionable immigrant status and didn't speak a word of English. Wanna know what their first English words were they learned and recited everyday? Our football coach in high school said a friendly 'Hello' to a militant clot of hippies he walked past outside of class and some greasy haired pothead popped some shit off. BIG mistake.

At the same time, the teacher admitted to the statement, other students clearly must have heard it, and now she no longer retains any credibility or authority in the classroom.

No, I’m not wrong. Any individual, whether government or private citizen has free speech rights. An individual acting as a government agent does not automatically forego their rights. This teacher made a broad statement in class. The student made it personal and APPROACHED the teacher after class, and attempted to confront the teacher on her beliefs. The teacher expressed her disagreement. The student got butthurt because the teacher didn’t give in to her demands, and expressed her OPINION that the student should leave the country if she was unhappy here. Sorry man, there was no violation of her rights.
