Wife imparted this story over dinner last night, about the brother of a co-worker.
The guy is mid 50's.
He's a bit of a nut over police stuff and a big gun collector.
Some nosy neighbors had been observing a good number of college kids coming and going from his place and thought maybe he was dealing out of his house.
Turns out he wasn't. Just liked hanging out with the kids and shit. Nothing weird.
Cops pulled a warrant.
They found the guns and all of police stuff, badges, scanners, patches, tac gear, etc.
Zero drugs. Zero contraband of any kind, except one home made unlicensed can.
They tried to pin all kinds of terrorism shit on him, but ultimately all the guns checked out clean and they had no real evidence that he was going to do anything at all.
That would have been the end of it, but for that one solvent trap.
Now he's in fed lockup awaiting trial and could pull ten years.
Like I said, that's third or fourth hand info, but it's something to think about if you're one of those folks who are so inclined to DIY.
