I thought it was a pretty good variety. Things didn't really go well. My main takeaways were:

1) The rifle's recoil isn't that bad... I put exactly 123 rounds through it and I'm sure I will be a little sore tomorrow but it didn't bother me while I was out there.

2) The rifle does a little better if you really grip it tight as you would your semi-autos... I got marginally better groups doing it that way than when i held it loosely like I would a normal precision bolt action. This also helped manage the recoil a little.

3) The bolt lift is rough... I understand why you see people putting their thumb on the top to manipulate the bolt. After almost knocking the rifle over a few times I resorted to that same method and it worked pretty well.

4) Feeding is hit or miss with the 20 round magazine (can't remember if any of the issues occurred with a 10rnd or not but I know for sure they did with the 20. The round would bind up on the bottom of the chamber... this happened 4 or 5 times before I figured out that the loose fit of the mag in the magwell was causing the round to go in at a bad angle. I ended up just putting a little forward pressure on the back of the mag when cycling it so it didn't bind up which worked pretty well.

5) The rifle isn't accurate. I'm really pretty down about it because I am almost desperate to make this thing work. It is really cool... i think it is the perfect size and weight but it just wouldn't shoot. You can blame my fundamentals all you want but I don't think that is it... I know they may not be perfect but I feel like I was getting good trigger pulls. I took my other rifle and it shot well for me. I got a 5 round .3" group with the 5 rounds of Hornady ELD-M and it was shooting in the .75 range with american gunner which is pretty typical. I will post pics later tonight I guess but its a lot of targets and I kinda quit documenting what was what. I think I had one group that was just under 1moa with the FGMM (175 i think... surprise surprise) but a 1.25" group was a major win today. I'd say most are around 2"-2.5"... they were bad. I did the break in kosher break in. I spaced shots by about 3min for awhile (I was there 4.5hrs); I shot from the bench, I shot from prone, I cleaned the rifle halfway through to see if that would help. I shot groups quickly to see if that helped... nothing seemed to work. Groups did seem to tighten up a little toward the end but not really. I honestly don't get it and am not sure what to do about it. If anyone is in the Columbia SC area and think they can shoot it well let me know and I will let you shoot it. If @Lowlight wants to hold on to it for a little while and see what he can do with it that works. If @DAVETOOLEY wants to keep it for a little while (he has prob seen enough of Q products tho haha) thats great.. but prob not. I am just at a complete loss. I don't know if it is the contour... I noticed that the front of the barrel was pretty warm at one point and the back was still cold but I don't know if that makes any difference. These Bartlein barrels shoot great in everything else I have seen. The rifle did worse than when I was testing mil surplus 5.56 through my LMT. My LMT grouped Wolf Gold, MEN, PPU, etc better than this rifle grouped $30/box match ammo. I just don't understand. My fiancee who HATES my guns and is never nice about them literally said "I'm sorry your gun sucks" and meant it. Thats where I am right now. Confused/"bummed"

I’m in Cola every week and have a new 16” 308 Fix. Lmk if you want to shoot it for a side by side comparison. My scope should be here middle of next week.

It could be... I would love for that to be the issue. The best groups i shot were my 3rd group and then something towards the end... like the 21st or something. I closed the bolt on an empty mag (thinking it was loaded) and I didn't notice any movement when I pulled the trigger, so I felt like I was focused. Way more focused than when I shot my other rifle (where I was some weird type of pissed of and was basically just cycling the bolt and pulling the trigger as quickly as I could while thinking about why the Fix wasn't shooting well). I took breaks where I took a step back, thought about my fundamentals for a min before getting back to it. I was determined to shoot this thing well. I wanted so badly to come back and report that it shot great. I felt very comfortable behind the rifle and tried every method of shooting I know. What changes have you made to your shooting to change how this thing shoots? How much exactly has it improved over those 600 rounds? I'm telling you, nothing would make me happier than for someone to take my rifle and make me look stupid with it. Attached are some examples of how it shot. Also will attach my 4 test groups from when I was testing surplus 556 through my MRP (that PPU group ended up not being the norm and it opened up to about 1.3-1.5" on average... the rifle also shot American Eagle MSR really well but didn't get a pic). On a positive note, the whole experience did lead me to order 2 old fashioneds last night at dinner and they were about the best thing I had ever put in my mouth haha

I also don't really understand how fundamentals would be different for the same exact rifle with a 6.5creed barrel on it. Its the same rifle and those guys aren't having any issues. The issue people were talking about with the .308 was the "recoil" but the recoil isn't bad. I feel great this morning... feel like I could go put another 150 through it (I'm not a big guy... 5'11 175lbs)... no bruising whatsoever. I understand that most of your serious long range guys aren't really going with .308s right now, but still, something isn't jiving.

On a side note, that Nosler Trophy Grade shot like hell but I am sure it will pack a wallop haha. Noticeably heavier recoil and looked like a flash grenade went off at the muzzle. Literally sat up and was like "whoa" after the first round. The 125gr SST Hornady custom lite shot ok but I just don't have the time or space to pick up reloading again right now... but that a hotter round with that same SST projectile could be a good option for those who do reload.

What do y'all think about Badger unimounts? I am already hearing the collective "Seriously? ".... but looking at my rifle this morning it looks like the scope shifted about 1/2" toward the muzzle over the course of the day. It didn't rotate any... just shifted on that one axis. I tightened exactly to Badger's specs "Place the scope in the rings, put on the cap and install ALL the screws loosley, (do not use Loctite) holding the short end of the T-15 wrench tighten about as tight as you can get it. (holding the short end of the T-15 wrench!)" but that didn't seem to work. All the bolts are still tight and I can't move the scope around by hand but it DEFINITELY shifted. I am going set everything back up and torque to 25 in/lbs, like I normally do, and see what happens. I may still have issues, but I don't think the scope moving around did me any favors.

That definitely isn’t good. If your scopes moving in the mount there’s no way accuracy is going to be great. Never had any issues with badger mounts myself, but I prefer Spuhr. Spuhr has a lot of meat contacting the tube and their torque specs run higher.

I may have just not have tightened it enough. I pulled out the torque “wrench” and, while tight, they were not quite at 25 in/lbs so gotta give that a try before wasting a busy man’s time

I kid. I was going to ask about that. The reason I asked for the groups is that may have been an issue. Looking at them this morning I think that’s part of the issue for sure. Two rounds touch. Then two rounds close together 2 inches over. I think you have an optic problem my friend.

I wish this would have happened while i was working in Greenwood, i would have come down and brought mine for comparison.

I have not had good results personally but I sent my rifle back to Q and they shot sub moa. I don’t know what they do differently but it’s working. I’m waiting on parts but next weekend will try it again and see of things improve. Here is the proof target from Q along with their testing ammo and optic info.

As soon as I get the parts and get it back together I’ll take some pics. I have 2 of the MK5 one with the Tremor 3 reticle and the other with the TMR. Goes without saying but for anything 200yds plus I’d go with the Tremor 3. Where I hunt it could be 50yds to 300yds and the TMR is clearly visible at both close and longer ranges where as the Tremor 3 is extremely hard to make out at closer ranges.

No but I have tried it from bipod and bags. Usually a good setup which makes me wonder what Q uses during testing.

Not a 308 but here's 3 rounds at standing height with my 6 Creed fix off the RRS with the Arca Swiss rail my buddy and I developed. Well under 1/2moa, but not quite as well as I shoot with it prone.

I’m usually a NF guy. Just sold my NX8. It was the first NF I didn’t LOVE. The weight difference is what makes me curious about the Mk5. Almost a half pound... (for the x50mm NF, I could look at the x42mm as well and it’s only 5 oz different).

I think you found your major issue.
There’s so much inconsistency in those groups no wonder you’re scratching your head.
Once you get that dialed in fingers crossed you can then have some consistency and just work on getting comfortable with the rifle.
I wouldn’t say it’s hard to shoot but getting comfortable with it (mostly the recoil and how much it jumps between shots) took longer than I expected.

MK5 I had was garbage. It went back to Leupold 2 times. It would not track and the reticle was misaligned. After it came back the second time I dumped it.

Alright.. I agree. start it up. No one seemed interested in answering the guys question about if anyone else was getting rust on the barrel. Anyone have any success out of the .308 with something other than FGMM lately? I came here to ask questions and got bombarded by bullshit theoreticals and speculation so post some info and enlighten us.

Seriously tho, some here consider FGMM the gold standard for accuracy and that looks like what the rifle but a lot of people don't think it performs well out past at longer distances. So has anyone shot it past 750y or so? I really would like to find an alternative round to shoot through this thing.

Desert Tech shoots good out of my .308 Fix. And it’s a green mountain barrel. It’s about $.50 a round higher but if you reload it’s worth it because you get good fired brass out of it instead of just federal brass.

Well shit man now you have me wondering about my setup. Its the MK5 in badger rings. Rings are tq’d to 20in lbs and the rings to rail are tq’d to 50in lbs. I have another MK5 I may try on it due to what someone posted above about MK5 being garbage and not tracking correctly and your post about pairs toching and then having following pairs touching but high or low. I haven’t noticed the optic moving in the rings but always a possibility. Did you wait between shots to let the barrel cool or crank off a 5 round group? Also did you let the barrel cool and notice any cold bore flyers?

Alright so I am going to have to eat my words on the accuracy. Actually got the scope rings torqued to 30 in/lbs (i think they were prob around 10-15) and having a properly installed scope made all the difference in the world. Shot 3 5 round groups... one with Hornady 168gr ELD-M and 2 with 175gr FGMM (shot 2 because I knew I pulled a shot in the first group... as you will *see down and to the right*). This is out of the B/T .308 16".

One thing I noticed today (what caused me to pull the shot) is that the thinner cheek rest makes it hard to lay on like you are laying on a pillow, if that makes sense. I had inconsistent pressure when i pulled the trigger and it when low and to the right.

Great to hear it was the scope/mount and now you can just get used to the rifle and actually see when you pull a shot.

Here’s some shots of the vert grip. I like it a lot. Had to trim the back strap a bit and I may take off like 1/8” from the finger rest but the grip is amazing ????

That’s a great looking setup. Maybe one day I’ll break down and paint my fix, I just don’t want to ruin the look of it if I screw up.

What is with the bulge on the grip where your trigger finger goes? Is that to promote a better trigger pull?

I think the rifle shoots fine. I still have other issues with the product itself, but I can work with those. Basically look at points 1-4 on my original report. The fix is a great design, but I feel like certain aspects of the execution fell a little flat. @newguy2k3v2 's suggestion about the velcro is excellent and I will definitely be putting that to use, but I will always have a bitter taste in my mouth from what I have seen from this Kevin guy (whether I know him or not). When one guy is calling us "fags" despite the fact we are spending thousands of dollars on his products, and another (Dave) offers to take on a nobody like myself's case, despite the fact that he has no obligation to do so, financial or otherwise, says a lot about character and who has it and who doesn't. I wish I could have lied and said it wasn't shooting well just so I could go meet the man and get the opportunity to shoot with him, but I will not waste his time unnecessarily. As I have said before, buying a good product from a shitty person doesn't satisfy me. Good products from good people. We are all on the same team here when it comes down to it and I think it is obvious that Dave Tooley understands that. I encourage people to think about not only what they are buying but who they are buying it from.

Happy you identified your problem. When good guns shoot that bad it's almost always a mechanical problem. You or anyone else is welcome to stop by. I'm a shooter and enjoy hanging out with shooters. I have 200 yds shooting out of the shop door. Out to 1200 about 6 miles away when there's no crops in the fields and I going to seriously work at finding a permanent location out 1500+ this winter.

Yeah it promotes a 90 degree finger. It looks a little odd and it takes a minute to get used to, but I noticed when trying to group that my hand feels the best when it’s in the position of this grip. ????

I have had the same experience, my rifle shoots little bitty groups, cycles fine, love the trigger, and had good luck with customer service.
We have established at this point that KB is a douche, just love the rifle for what it is and base your purchasing decision off the rifle itself.

I could make it happen but would need about 50 people to commit and pay up front once it’s drawn up and we have an idea of machine time and cost. It’s not going to be a $20 part either. It’d probably end up in the $50-$100 by time they’re anodized just depending on how long it takes to machine.

I wonder if the 3lb 2oz on their website is right. I weighed my Green Mountain 22 6.5 barrel and it was 3lb 12oz. It’s like they left the 1 off on accident. And it makes sense because the weights of the two guns are 1.2lbs different. So I don’t see how the barrel is only 3lb 2oz.
