Maggie’s THE "NOM NOM NOM" THREAD

Hi Barn,

Sorry to hear of your wife's Mum's condition. Hopefully, she isn't in pain and is with you as long as possible.

When you go to S/D, there are a lot of great restaurants in Gastown and down by the convention center/Petco Park (Baseball Stadium). The Bluewater is great, but lines can be long. It's cafeteria style, so you wait in line to order your food, then go look for an open table. There is also the "Fishmarket", down on the water, next to the Midway aircraft carrier. Neat place/area, food is pretty good.

Jamie wants shrimp and the stuffed fungus...

Just finished picking a bunch of cooked blue crab for salad. The missus is taking pity on me and doing the last few, and then the assembly. Should have been there when she got them. They were about stockpot size to just boil and toss.

Now, sammich time!

The weather last night just wouldn't allow for cooking on the grill.
Today isn't much better, but the rain is lighter.
Picked up a couple of NY strips, some asparagus, a sweet potato for Rebecca, a Russet for me.
A bottle of 19 Crimes cab.
And last but not least, a pair of mock tender steaks for the pooch.
Gonna slap them on the fire as soon as I post this.

Our steaks.

Well, that will make a turd!:D:D

Gave Cherry the dog her bowl of steak and started setting our plates into their spots. Looked over and she was finished.
So much for tasting it...

Here's ours resting and melting the Irish butter.
The pooch steaks are the little ones.

Of course no steak is complete without a test piece.

Lastly,
Neither one of us likes the taste or texture of fat or gristle.
Guess who cleaned up for us...

Everything turned out great. The pup has the full belly, dry diaper feeling.
Rebecca the carnivore is happy, happy, happy.
And, we're working on the other half of that bottle of 19 Crimes.

1/4 block party with the good neighbors. I wonder if the asshole neighbors know they're missing out on a good time??? They will when I blow off big booming fireworks in the middle of the night!! ?

Hell yeah brother. Good food, good friends, shitty neighbors and loud noise makers. Fugg yeah!!

Well, I've obviously been out "Impregnating The Canine" and a friend contacted me and said "You're gonna have fun catching up in "The Pit". I'm sure I will. In the meantime, I'm gonna toss down this awesome Breakfast our Cook threw together for us this morning. God Love Her. (y):coffee:

The Honey Habanero on Wings is outstanding. Next we'll try with Pork. Great flavor.

She will for sure. But with our pleasant personalities, sparkling smiles, and persuasiveness we'll getter done. You just watch. ;) Susie has been a joy to work with. Just the right amount of gruffness in her. :D All good really. I'll go back to being the camp cook if all else fails..........

Just finished making fresh horseradish. It's not quite 'makes your ears itch' hot, but darn close. Walking into the kitchen was like getting pepper sprayed, but you could still breathe.

The ribeye roast is about 5 hours into the sous vide bath at 131 with 5 to go.

And I going to try making bacon wrapped potato roses as the side. I guess even if they don't turn out, there's still bacon.

Had never heard of that, I had to look it up......You bastidge ;):ROFLMAO:

@Mike Casselton , "Irish Butter"????? And just keep the pup away from the Bourbon. They start to turn mean, when they get used to the Bourbon. HA.

@1J04 , you stepping up to 'camp cook' again means everyone's on a diet again? :)

Everyone, there's some fantastic foods showing up here, and now that the hot season is mostly over here, we're going to be going back to cooking indoors. With that, more time to actually prepare dishes and meals, due to less time being spent on "insane responsibilities and grown-up duties".

Who knows, I/we might even make a contribution or two around here, again.

@Sean the Nailer
We don't do that French butter thing around here.
It costs too much.

French stuff?
Yeah, fries and their wine.

I stay away from hard liquor. Never developed a taste for it, but I do like an occasional rum and coke or mojito.
The mutt would probably try and drink that too.

From experience; There's nothing worse than an alcoholic dog. If he's gonna drink, at least limit him to beer. But, no deviled eggs, pickled bologna or pickled pigs feet if'n ya' get my drift. (Is he by chance an outside dog ?.......Have you given that any consideration ?)

Um, he's a she.
And she started drinking at an early age.
Bologna, in flat pieces or stick form gives her the double ended shits.
Damn thing will eat a jalapeno popper though. And sticks, mulch, insects, lizards, frogs, oak leaves, flies and whatever else she can snatch up if you're not looking.
She's not my first dog, but she is for the rest of the family. They spend a lot of time looking like they have their tail caught in a door. I shrug most of it off.

Here she is at 15 weeks (the day after we got her) trying to eat my firewood.
