To my ear, I don’t hear much of a difference behind the gun. Others around me say they can tell when I’m shooting my 6.5 ultra vs a 30.

Only you can decide if you want the utility of a 30 cal can vs a dedicated 6.5

Or buy the ultra 7 in 6.5 and the ultra 9 in 30. That keeps your 6 and 6.5 shot and quite and your big cal still quiet enough.

I really love my ultra 7 and 9. I would go with the CB attachment vs DT since I find myself taking them on and off a lot more than I thought I would. (due To storage in a locked contained while on the road and changing rifles while prairie dog shooting)
my sparrow does have a first round pop but it doesn’t bother me. I use it on a 17HMR. Again works great.

I went TBAC. I ordered the Ultra 9 and a 556 takedown. I know the 556 is heavy but I wanted something geared more towards the AR. I figured because I can clean it I should be able to use it on a 22lr as well. I’ll used the 556 TD on any 1/2x28 threads bc they will be 556 or less dia. I wish I could get my Ultra 9 faster. I did get one of those nice 50% coupons.

I have no doubt TBAC makes absolutely top flight suppressors. I’m considering a TBAC takedown 22 myself.

But as that long thread attests, the myth that one never needs to clean a centerfire suppressor is false. That myth has been around long enough to be gospel. Then they discover their can is 10 oz heavier than when they bought it and have to ship the thing back to the manufacturer for weeks of cleaning. Weeks.

If I was all full-auto high-speed low-drag (and had an armorer cleaning my stuff) then yeah, give me a strong sealed can. But I’m a hunter, and as Griffin and Banish silencers can attest, they’re strong enough and accurate. And something you can take apart is faster and easier to clean. Just read the thread above.

Want to throw it on your rimfire? No problem.

Not too long ago, I’ve heard some people were making sealed rimfire suppressors…ask them how well that went.

I think TBAC should make a can like the Banish and corner that market. They make a great product, as all the great reviews can attest to.

It takes a lot of shooting and no intermediate cleaning to get to 10 ounces. If you clean it in CLR when you get to 1-2 ounces over spec, it's pretty quick and it doesn't build up.

We used to make sealed Ti rimfire suppressors. I don't think we ever had one we couldn't get reasonably clean using our recommended methods. I still shoot a couple 22S's and 22L-1's and they aren't full of lead. YMMV.

I am getting a TBAC Ultra 9 and I still want to run a brake. I have an APA Lil B. I think the Hellfire is very similar and it’s a heck of a brake. I wanted to be able to run the suppressor on multiple rifles and have the option of the Hellfire brake. I went with the Area 419 system.

I never own or shot TBAC before. But got the certificate 50% off and I placed the order TBAC 338 Ultra SR on June 2019. The can is still in JAIL with the form 4. While waiting for my 338 Ultra SR. I was thinking I want to something smaller and lighter to replace my 10 years old YHM phantom(20.1oz) that can shoot multiple calibers. So just placed order the Dominus SR couple days ago. It's gonna be a very long wait......but not really care about the time line because I will play with my 338 Ultra SR soon.

After recently getting my second Banish, my suggestion is to just buy one of them if you want a user-serviceable suppressor. I do, because I think clean cans are more accurate. That may not matter if you are happy with "under MoA" or even half-MoA, but I want much better than that, and I get it with my Banish. I couldn't care less if the TBAC costs less, not after spending thousands to get custom rifle and $2,000 scope, and hours meticulously reloading match ammo. There is simply nothing made that will perform better on a target rifle, assuming you don't mind doing the frequent cleaning, and I don't.

I see frequent arguments about whether to get a 7" 30-cal or a 9". My Banish 30 is either -- 7" if I am hunting with it and 9" if I am on the bench. How cool is that?

My trust is complete and I’m looking to buy my first can. The first one will be for my long range 308/6.5 but I want precision with 300 win mag capabilities. ThunderBeast ultra 9 is what I’m going for unless there is something I’m missing. The next 30cal can will be lower end and for a gas gun. Any arguments for something else?

im also looking at a silencerco sparrow for up to 22mag. All help is appreciated. Looking to order this week or next, so in the future it’s coming is out.

Thunder Beast has been hands down the best can I've run. I currently run an Ultra 7 in 6.5 but the Ulrta 9 would be money in a 30 cal. Purchase with confidence.

You're right, until you start shooting a seriously accurate rifle. Because "every bullet has to go somewhere" you can get an occasional half-minute, 3-shot group with a dirty suppressor, but I cannot get consistently great groups with one (meaning multiple 5-shot groups on the same page). I can with a clean suppressor. This is a .204 at 100 yds shot a couple of weeks ago through my Banish 223:



Once you start taking dirty suppressors apart you see that you get large amounts of carbon build-up on the baffle holes. Without cleaning, that build-up continues until it gets blasted off with shooting, resulting in vastly different hole sizes and geometry as the process get repeated for each baffle.

It's like with the crown of a barrel -- you would not think that the accuracy of a bullet that has left the barrel could be affected by a tiny scratch or ding on the crown a quarter-inch away from the bore, but it sure as heck can, and will be nearly every shot. Those dirty baffle holes mess with the gas the same way, causing slight changes in your POI. If you think MOA is accurate, you will probably never notice.

And please don't post a photo of a single .4 MOA group shot seven years ago with a suppressor that has had "thousands of rounds through it" to "prove" how accurate a dirty suppressor can be. Post a target with at least three 5-shot groups on it, with all of them being under .4 MOA. I cannot do it with my non-cleanable can, so I doubt you can either.

I shoot my cans till the engineers laugh and make me clean them. I've won matches with cans several ounces over weight I've posted videos of sub 1/2 MOA groups at various ranges with dirty cans. You can tell yourself whatever you want. I do this for a living. Until a can gets noticeably heavy there is no accuracy degradation.The initial carbon build up isn't around the bore, it packs in the corners. We've had to prove to this several very elite units over the years. For most of us on this page it's not about shooting groups at 100. You want to waste time cleaning after every few hundred rounds have at it. Not me.

I can honestly barely (negligible) notice audible difference between a Ultra 9 and 338 Ultra between 300WM, 300NM or 338LM.

243, 6.5, 308, etc... very nice report.

Depends if the user is planning on going over 300WM, as that is the limit for the 30 caliber Ultras. Anything higher, got to jump to the 338 Ultra.

Are you saying the smaller caliber should sound quieter than the larger calibers for ultra 9 v 338 ultra?

Also the ultra 9 is rated up to 300RUM

My suppressor has about 700-800 magnum rounds fired using H1000 exclusively which is supposedly one of the worst for suppressor fouling. Never been cleaned and it's always, I mean always 3/4 MOA or better. It's often 3/8 MOA but even when I jerk the trigger it's pretty damn accurate. My rifle will go over 1 MOA once the barrel is done, well before the suppressor is fouled to the point of giving a shit.
