Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

Hi everyone, I live up in Akron and I went down to shoot under Tom's instruction today. Being someone that hasn't shot out much past 300yd, this longer range game was more or less new to me. Tom was very patient with me and guided me through a very comprehensive dope sheet, ranging from 200y-over 1000yd. My last shot was my longest ever so far at 1165yd, and I could put my remington 700 .308 on the 1000yd mark pretty reliably by the end of the day.

Overall, a huge success, and I look forward to making some new friends in the near future as I become a regular here!

Thanks Tom!

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

I finally get some time to shoot again! It's been awhile since Mammoth but T.A.M. and I will be down August 6-7...we're looking forward to it for sure. She'll finally be able to get some trigger time instead of playing combat photographer for us haha.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

This is great news! Nick has to be one of the most lucky guys in the world to have a girl like that. She's tough..smart..great fun to be around and very beautiful. Just better get her food and drink right though...lol. What a night to remember!

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

Yeah, come down as much as you can to TVP. You will be surprised at how much you can learn and how proficient you will become at engaging long range targets just in a few short months. TVP is the premier shooting facility east of the Mississippi, at least!!!

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

Another great day at TVP. Small crowd, only 8 shooters, but it was still a great time shooting the intimidator with pretty moderate wind throughout the day.

Moderate wind at TVP?? I would have to see that to believe it, lol. I cant wait to get back up there soon.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

Yesterday was a good day at Thunder Valley...

I witnessed the Headhunter course get cleaned.

Tom Sarver did that with his .338 Lapua Mag while testing new 300gr. bullets from Berger Bullets. Great shooting Tom. Just another target...right?

I got my barrel back for my Hulk rifle. This new configuration will be fun. Hopefully,I will be able to use it more.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

A friend of mine was just up there, and i'm assuming he had a good time. I'll have to talk him into a road trip so he and I can do something out there sometime. I do have a question, is Ohio a suppressor friendly state? I shoot with a suppressor on and would prefer to do all my shooting that way, but I sure would hate to travel all that way and then have a "woops" moment.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

Short-bus,

Yes, suppressors are allowed in Ohio. We sell them and several of our customers are running them in our shoots.
Our Head Hunter night shoot is suppressed only and we rent them to shooters who do not have a suppressor of their own.
The Head Hunter was just cleaned with a suppressed .338 LM with a Jaws suppressor built by Shark. Very quiet and very accurate and built like a tank but light enough not to hinder the weapon in anyway.
Looking forward to seeing you and if your buddy was Chet he had a blast. I put him in with two other shooters I was training and by the end of the day he was making some great one shot hits. Nice guy.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

That sure looks like a fun course of fire.
Like to make it there some day.
The 10yr old was kicking butt. He should have been kicking butt with some glasses on!!
Shame on you older guys.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio

Glad to see the fun & learning continues, TVP without a doubt has the best format in terms of being a competitive challenge, but also the place where everyone goes out of their way to help each other learn and improve.

Any details for the Open Range Day on Sat? Shooting from the benches, and/or heading out to some of the positions?

Looking forward to finally making it back, it’s been way to freaking long!

Might be moving the Party But the shooting should stay the same.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio

Tom - Super thanks to you and all the guys yesterday (Sunday)for letting me hang out with all of you on the intimadator shoot. It was a hell of a lot of fun (but brutal)!! I was the guy from Dayton asking all the questions :)I'm afraid ya got me hooked. There goes my wallet :) I'll definately be joining you for all the shoots next year. Thanks again and I'll get back in touch later in the year to start planning my strategy for next season as soon as I get done buying my lottery tickets :)

Oh yeah - who won the match on Sunday ? Which guy in the above picture ?

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

How is the double HH going to be run? Each shooter runs through it twice in a row? Run through shooter lineup twice at each stage? Run through the course, then start over? Sounds like a long day of shooting either way!

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

I am heading up for the shoot tomorrow, do we have to be there by a certain time for briefings or staging, or is it just going to be an open day to come and go as you please?

I will also be sticking around for the HH on Sun.

See everyone then, Thanks,
M Richardson
