Tikka T1X

My current Tikka T1x competition build...Moving to a Vudoo, but this has been a great little rifle and I finally got it weighted perfectly. I replaced the muzzle device with a Omega 300 can (not pictured) to add some weight.

Anyone heard when the next batch of Sterk bolt handles are expected? I’m on the waiting list but it’s going on a month or 2 over due. I don’t mind waiting but just wondering.
Your spidey sense must have been tingling. Machining just started this morning, an update was posted online. Not too long now

Are there any downsides the the swept/AI style bolt handles?

I really feel like upgrading but the cost as % of the rifle is high. Enough to make me not want to make a mistake!

Cheers.

I have had my Sterk swept handle since July 2019. I can say it’s probably one of the best upgrades for the T1x right out of the box. Huge ergonomic improvement.

The factory handle is too far forward for me. When I get off the trigger to run the bolt I have to move my hand forward to get to the bolt. Didn’t like that.

The Sterk puts it right over / slightly behind the trigger. When I come up to grab the bolt, the handle is exactly where I expect it to be. Movement is directly up with a bit backwards which works perfectly since that’s the direction you will be taking the bolt.

Worst case, if you don’t like it, you can always sell it in the PX. People are thirsty for them between production runs.

Speaking of productions runs, thanks for getting me in late to the list for a T3X swept handle, @cannoncrossfire

Need to get some pics but man I have the bug for 22 now. Picked up a 20” in the PX loaded out already (bravo, spring, sterk, 419 rail; thanks poke). I am still waiting on my Tac with the aprs6 so I took my scope off my Tikka 6.5 and went to range today. Wind was not ideal to zero but I did not care.

Ran through 150 rounds of sk+ on kyl racks and various steel out to 125 (missed all shots at 175 got some 22 wind to learn).

it was so fun. Felt like I was 11 again on the deer lease.
22 range all to my self, ears loving the nice sounding 22 followed by the little ding of steel.

Big thanks to this thread and the rimfire forum!

Go post in PX. People are selling the 16”
Good idea, I went ahead and did that. Guess I'll see if anyone is ready to offload one here soon and if not I'll backorder one.

Hoping to pick up a TBAC 22 takedown suppressor as well. Currently have a 9mm suppressor that I use on rimfire, but looking for something built for the job.

I had a few people reach out with 16”. I was waiting for 20”. PM me and I will look up who reached out

I ask this question out of ignorance, what are the pros / cons of the 16” vs 20” barrel? I love shooting .22’s but most of my firearms experience is 3gun and hunting. .22’s were just a tool for playing kick the can.

Pro of 16" barrel, it is shorter than 20". Especially a pro for running suppressed. I can't imagine you get any velocity gain for going 20" but I'm not sure, pretty new to this 22 long range stuff.

That is my thought. Unless shooting 3gun, I only shoot supressed anymore. So I am thinking 16”. I think I have read .22 basically has burned all the powder & gotten all it’s speed in 16”. However, there has to be some reason all these folks have longer barreled rimfires.

I was interested to find that my unsuppressed 20" Tikka T1x and my daughter's suppressed 16" CZ 457 run exactly the same velocity when shooting from the same box of ammo. I didn't realize it until I got home and looked over my notes, or I would have tried combinations of suppressed and unsuppressed on each rifle. I may give it a go the next time I'm at the range.

I would have preferred a 16" Tikka if I could have found one.

i bought mine new online just now for $535 before taxes/fees but its already listed as sold out and obviously hasn't shipped. given how fast it sold out after i placed my order, who knows if im actually going to get it or not. well see i guess.
Best thing is to call them and ask. 20 min on the phone is worth it.

The extension’s worked great for me. I ran the same + 4 mag extension, with the block in it to limit it to +2 yesterday, and it was flawless in my Tikka over a 8 stage Rimfire match.

I haven’t tried the +4 option yet because I don’t want to stretch the spring. I value reliability over +2.

Thanks for the feedback. Ordered my plus 4 extension and it should be here Friday.

my t1x MTR is on its way! whats everyone using for their scope? i was going to go with a swampfox arrowhead 1-10x mil. this is is mainly going to be shot offhand/standing so im looking for a lightweight scope and this scope seems like it fits the bill.

i already have a heavier vudoo with a 6-24x so i dont particularly feel the need to get outfit the t1x for long range precision, this is more of a lightweight offhand rifle.
