Tikka T3 Thread

Chopped a .308 varmint barrel down to 17.5' - hacked at the standard t3 lite stock to open up the barrel channel - 7.4 lbs as pictured and balances like a dream

Any know where to find the best deal on factory CTR mags? Am I correct that 5 rd mags are the same dimensions as 10 rd mags? Thanks.

No idea there are like 2-3 different kinds of mags.

One of the big reasons I got the KRG chassis was mags. I use the ruger 10rd steel scout mags which are 40-50 bucks each off Ebay and they feed perfectly and drop free.

Quick question for Tikka users.

Have any of you experienced slam-fires after adjusting the trigger? On my T3X CTR, it is possible to adjust the trigger weight low enough to where the gun will slam-fire when the bolt is closed or smacked hard enough, and that's with the factory spring in place. There's no way I could use the Yo Dave spring safely in my gun.

Not specific to tikka. After adjusting a trigger I work the bolt hard and beat the rifle with a rubber mallet. If the sear won't stay engaged the trigger needs more adjustment.

Got the Boyd's At-One stock in for the T3X Varmint. Pretty darn impressive for $200 to my door. Very nice inletting. Adjustable cheek riser and butt plate work well. Fits me so much better than the original. Weighs just over 1 lb. more than the original. Rifle is balanced very well now.

Got mine out to the range today. I haven't shot a rifle in at least 20 years. Just looking to get in to precision shooting and bought a CTR 6.5 Creedmoor with 20" barrel and the Sig Tango6 3-18.

I'm pretty happy with this group @ 100 yards from a brand new rifle and my first rifle shooting. Ammo was just Hornady American Hunter rounds for break-in procedure (I know not everyone believes in it, hope I don't stir the pot by mentioning).

I'm sure the rifle is more accurate than I am and am looking forward to trying out some match ammo soon.

Luckily I haven't experienced a slam fire, but like MtnCreek said, its best to test your rifle (with no rounds) to see if you adjusted to light. I installed my Yo-Dave and it passed every drop test I performed, but after running the bolt hard in some dry fire practice I came to discover that I could run it hard enough to disengage the sear so I tightened the spring up a little and that solved the issue.

Couldn't resist when he told me he had a few extras! Now to buy a rifle to put these bad boys on![IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com\/20171030\/db8332f1c152a9b750f68fed8f6e2a87.jpg"}[/IMG2]

Besides the product the packaging was by far the best I have ever seen.

For the me 5mm screw that holds the Trigger assembly in place obstructs how much I can adjust the trigger. Is no one else having this issue? I never got to the point where it would go off when I dropped it.

Well, incase anyone is holding out for a grayboe inlet for tikka. You are going to be waiting for a very long time.

Hi Ty,

Yes there is truth to this.  We'er shooting for this to be our next big launch after we launch out new tactical stock called the Ridgeback in December.  The launch of the Tikka though may not be until summer of next year.  Hard to say for sure, but that is a best guess.

Cheers

Anyone done one of the criterion prefits available through solid accuracy? My CTR is still hammering, but I'm fighting the urge to build a dasher on a new t3 this winter....
I haven't yet but I really want to. He is just a couple hours up the road from me. I've been looking for a true accuracy report but haven't seen one. I've been thinking about a 260 with the 7.5 twist. Wanting to shoot the new 150 match kings

Yeah, two of mine hit the screw, kind of a built in fail safe. My third does not, and I could get a slam fire with it by backing it out too far. I did some checking, you gain nothing trigger pull wise by backing it out farther than hitting the screw anyways, just causes slam fires. I had an AD at match before last, was downrange and was the safest AD there is, but it still SUCKED! So check, double check, make sure your equipment is squared away!

Yeah back in June I was told 2-3 months by Ryan...every time I have contacted them or heard of the release date it pushes by about that much. I am no longer holding my breath nor expect to see the inlet anytime soon. It is something that is easy to do and if they thought the market was there for it they would have done it a lot sooner. Clearly the 700 business is keeping them in the green and they are busy enough with it. I am happy to see them succeeding but it is frustrating to see it keep pushing.

I was just looking for something I could throw onto a 223 trainer that could fit the role until I can get my Mcmillan A5 fully adjustable. I guess I will just use my CTR factory stock till the A5 makes its way to me.

I was pretty disappointed to hear this as well. Been waiting since August when he told me they would drop. Oh well. With the Bravo coming out its going to be hard to not put my 223 in that. Like you I was trying to get close to the feel of my Manners.

If you end up getting the bravo, make sure you share your thoughts on it.

My CTR recently got a stock upgrade & a scope upgrade. I'm in love with this thing. .260 T3 CTR, Manners T4A GAP, Razor Gen II, Vortex PMR. I also installed the factory T3x aluminum bolt shroud.

Tikka .243. 26' Shilen, Manners T5, NF ATACR 4-16. Goal was sub 14lbs, came in at 13.4 as pictured. Will start working up a load with 105gr Hybrids next week. Aiming for 3100fps with H1000. It's heavier than most would want to carry for hunting but I want to see what an 80gr ttsx will do at 3450fps.

Sexy! Mine T4A is off at manners getting repainted something different. I wrote "surprise me". GAP came would be sweet!

Of course! I owe yah that much with all the reviews you did with the bolt knobs.

Thanks! My reviews aren't done yet, I'm still working on them. I just wanted to give my initial impressions. Now I'm trying to get trigger time with each of them. I'm waiting for RND work to get done from a company who is looking to start making them as well, they are going to send one for me to try out.

Tikka newbie here looking for advice. I've got a T3 in 7 SAUM currently set up as a short action and would like to swap to a long action to gain more cartridge OAL . Is it as simple as a mag and bolt stop swap ? Ive also heard that the feed ramp may need to be modified? Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys .

I'm thinking the 80 grain TTSX will do just fine. I'm running the 100 gr TTSX at 3300 in my 25-06 and it is flat out devastating on whitetails. It also shoots in the .2s with that bullet.

Another swept ball handle knock-off/copy? Oh boy.

Somewhat new to the forum, and just wanted to add a post here. I never owned a bolt gun til about 4 years ago and went through a couple Savage rifles before stumbling onto Tikka. I currently own a T3x Varmint 223 and T3x CTR 6.5 creedmoor 24". Both shoot tiny little groups and make range trips a lot more fun. Can't believe that factory rifles in the sub-$1k price point can shoot this accurately and operate this smoothly.

Anyone here using a sling (carry strap) and a bipod on a CTR? Did you add another swivel stud? Something else? I don't plan to use a bipod much on this rifle, but want to be able to attach one without removing the sling.

There is only one screw you should be adjusting to change the weight for the factory setup. I think it's a 2mm.

The rail is just a Magpul MOE rail. I think I paid less than $10 for it. It also comes with its own fasteners. Then I bought some brass sleeve anchors at a hardware store that matched thread pitch of the screws supplied with the rail. Sorry i don't remember what the thread pitch was. I used the existing sling stud hole, plus drilled one more, sized appropriately for the new sleeve anchors. Then I epoxied the sleeve anchors into the stock, screwed the rail in place, done. Sorry I didn't take any pics, but that was the process. It's suits me well enough until I can manage to get a chassis. Pic any kind of sling cup you want and rock on.

Has anybody tried an AICS short action magazine without a binder plate? Were there any issues with rounds getting stuck under the feed ramp?

I seat my bullets pretty far out and could use the extra space in the magazine for COAL.

I use the Accurate mags without the binder plate and I have a few issues. The rounds don't get stuck under the feed ramp, but the follower will bind up from time to time. But it's still worth running the mags in my opinion. When it happens I normally have to slap the mag or reach down and push on the round. It doesn't happen very often.

I'm still trying to get the ARC mags to work, the follower on those get bound up all the time so I don't trust them enough to use in a match yet.

Ill buy an ARC mag when that issue gets resolved. Wish I could get the 5 round magpuls to work with the Tikkas
