My gunsmith told me he ends up having to make a relief cut in the barrel in front of the action to get most factory Tikka barrels off.With everything tightened down, I’m trying to turn the wrench by hand, with the cheater bar, and the barrel spins. Should I be whacking the wrench handle with a hammer instead of just pushing? Sorry for the dumb questions, just getting a little stumped.
I mean, it's not permanently removed, it's held on by a screw... But yes it needs to be removed. It is what holds tension on the factory magazines that release from the front, AICS mags release from the back.Question for those KRG owners...why do you have to permanently remove the spring clip (see picture) when installing your action to a the KRG chassis?

Got it..so just remove clip, reinstall screw. What about the barrel nut housing screws? Is there a place to reinstall those on the KRG xray?
I like it and as soon as I can find a ultra 7 direct thread I’m gonna order one.
My 11.5” 6.8 SBR it still has a crack but I’ll shoot the 6.5 on Friday and video tape. I’ve never shot the 6.5 without hearing protection but when I have shot my other bolt guns suppressed it’s significantly quieter. I’m probably going to hunt exclusively with a suppressor and ear pro from now on that I’ve got tinnitus. I have noticed animals don’t scatter as far when I hunt suppressed

He's a reputable smith and very widely known. The rifles that he has built for me are absolute hammers. He did in fact cut the barrel off of the Tikka he recently did for me. I would much rather have him make a relief cut in the old barrel than apply more force than he's comfortable with and twist my action.I feel like this is an old wive's tale by now, this needing a relief cut business. If a consumer can remove a Tikka barrel with some effort I would expect a gunsmith to have no issues. Sadly it seems many gunsmiths aren't so smart, or only know bow to work on Remingtons.

Is anyone running the KRG xray chassis?
What chassis systems are direct drop in for the Tikka T3X Tac A1? I’m looking at swapping out to a fixed stock over the folding oem T3X.
Tikka experts - Any advice would be appreciated:
What height vortex PMR rings should I use with my Tikka CTR and Vortex razor gen 2 3-15x50. Im using the base stock that came with the gun
I picked up an X-Ray on here used. Was going to get the Bravo, but this was a better deal. I have added a spigot to it since these pictures were taken.
Nice! What Tikka barreled action did you use in the Xray? I’m still a little confused on how the Tac A1 action will work in the xray, because it looks different than the normal T3X? Other than the front two barrel nut bolts that I posted a picture of above, is the Tac A1 a direct drop in for the Xray chasis? What about how the scope rail lines up on top?
I finally received my X-ray, really liking it.
But Whiskey is the love connection, that is just amazing rig.
Tikka T3X CTR 308win.
Custom cerakoted.
Ase Utra SL5i supp, Coletac cover+2ammo holder.
Spuhr mount, Kahles K624i scope, Vortex defender caps, Mkmachining level and lever, Sterk swept bolthandle, Atlasworx boltshroud, MDT AICS magazines, these are great by the way, Atlas prs bipod, Riflesticks spiked feets, these are killers.

What color is that Cerakote? Is it the AI Brown or Federal Standard Field Drab? Nice rig.
Are you talking about the Sterk shroud from the previous page, here (4548):I saw somewhere someone had a Tikka Bolt shroud that was square, had an AI look to it. Has anyone seen anything like that or know where to get one like that? Might look cool paired with a Sterk AI bolt handle
It is mentioned much earlier in this thread. Made in Germany. Three position safety. Don't remember name but it was really expensive. Over $200.No,
No, I found a post somewhere that someone had a bolt shroud for a T3 that looks like the shroud on this AI bolt, like this...View attachment 7061827

Yeah it was meYea I saw that but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’ll keep looking. I seem to remember someone made it custom and said they might sell them.

Ive got a few people interested but they have to be 3d printed (can't be machined), so theres a fair bit of hand finishing. Got a heap of other products to make at the moment but might do some more metal 3d printing and see what people think.Yea that’s dope, you gonna sell them? I’d buy one...

I work at a machine shop too and it's maybe possible with 5 axis and a tiny ballnose haha. The issue is the round front changing to a square back - but the transition is on an angle due to the shape of the back of the tikka action. It might look simple but to make it is another story.Why can’t it be machined? I run a machine shop, I might be able to figure that one out... PM me if you’re interested, maybe I can help.

Just completed my Tikka T3 223 build:
* Started life as a Tikka T3 Lite in 204 Ruger
* Bartlein 0.224" 1:7.5 twist, heavy palma, SS barrel, 23" long
* Action & barrel cerakoted in graphite black
* KRG Whiskey 3 chassis gen 6, in Sako green
* MDT AICS polymer 223 magazines (10 round)
* Spuhr ST-4701 mount
* Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x56 EBR-2C MRAD scope
* Sterk swept bolt handle
* BT46-LW17 PSR Atlas bipod
Big thanks to this forum for the info & advice I got to help me spec up this build.
For those of you with the Bravo how is it? I've had an X-ray before and like it for what it was but it never felt as steady to me as a McMillan or Manners, even with the Spigot. Just got the 223 in will be doing load development this weekend. Grayboe keeps hinting that Tikka T3 inlets are coming but idk how far away that will be. A $350 renegade would honestly be what i want as of now. If i'd had the money i'd grab another PRS to mimic my Tempest. Still waiting on the next sterk shipment as well, other than that everything is in place. Just need something besides the factory stock and DBM.
I’ll post up. Ctr in 260. First shots, Little bit of load development. This thing shoots for sure
MountainAnyone know where I could get a factory Tikka Tac A1 0 MOA scope base? Found a Tac A1 chassis but its missing the scope base and I dont want to get the EGW 20 MOA since I plan to run an ARC or Spuhr with it built in.

Unfortunately that's the name of the game in this industry.Seems like I can't win on stocks. Manners took over a year to ship my stock and I finally get a tracking number just now. Meanwhile the grayboe I ordered had to be sent back because of an incorrect inlet and I'm still waiting on that to come back 2 weeks later. Would be nice to just get all the rifles in the right stocks.
How heavy of bullets can the 7.5" twist barrel handle?
I have a few of all the flavors from KRG and I just snagged another 24" CTR rifle that will be going in a Bravo. For me the only thing that I like more than a Bravo is a Jallen. I stipple the grip area and call it good.For those of you with the Bravo how is it? This is how the factory mount lines up with the factory hand guard rail.Do you have a link? I looked in their website but I couldn’t find a raised 0 MOA base that works with the Tac A1. Only regular can’t bases...
I’m not trying to steer you away from a Spuhr Mount I own one. I don’t like the grooves the have protruding that contact the scope. It’s good for extra grip but IMHO it’s not necessary and did mar my scope. I recently purchased a JP Enterprises 20 moa Mount and Love it! Also only $220. Very stout and precisely machined. Ordered from JP and received it 3 days later.Mountain

You are correct Mountain Tactical does not have the flat mount ready to ship yet (but soon). You can get a factory 0 moa base from Tikka. Here is the part number. They use the same mount on both models. Probably why it doesn’t perfectly line up to the rail on the T3 TAC A1. It sits about 1/64” higher than the pic rail on the hand guard. They do interlock and may be an issue if you not using the factory hanguard.
