So your saying that Brownells offers a discount for a C&R FFL but you still have to have the "new" firearm shipped to a valid FFL in your state and legally submit the background check and whatever transfer fee that dealer charges....?

Yes, you send them a copy of your C&R and they set you up with a dealer account. All the same rules apply for FFL items.

The main reason to get a ctr over a t3x is
Threaded and heavy barrel
Comes with rail
Detachable mags
Everything else is the same

I got a ctr a couple months ago and love mine

Now: Stainless or Blued steel ?
The barrel will get replaced one day with a stainless Krieger or Bartlien blank so is it worth the extra $ at this point ?
Does the CTR come with a Pic Rail as part of the package ?

If you are for sure going to swap barrels then save the bucks for the new one and yes they come with a 0 moa rail.

Guys,
I've been thinking about one thing, mostly because all of talk regarding Tikka and Sako.

As I've understood it, they both are made "under the same roof" and are based on the same barrel.

Tikka has a 3 shot MOA guarantee, and Sako has a 5 shot MOA guarantee.

My question is, has anyone compared these two and if so how do they compare to each other?

Just something I've been thinking about, at least since I ordered my Tikka
Tikka actually has a five shot MOA guarantee for varmint and Tac models at 100 meters

I started with a CTR in 260. I started with the 140 Hornady HPBT, went to the 140 ELDM, and then the Nosler 140 RDF as they liked a lot of jump. Depending on the bullet, I could get into the lands if I wanted to. When that barrel was shot out i went 6.5 Creedmoor and haven't looked back. I used a 23.5" Bartlein medium palma and I picked up a 20" CTR 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. I am switching to the 20" in a couple of weeks for deer season.

Did you ever run out of magazine length when loading the 140gr ELD for 260 in the CTR?

My J Allen finally shipped! Should be delivered today, sadly I won't be able to use it for my match tomorrow since I won't have time to play around with the magwell and get it re-zeroed. Either way, I will have it for my regional finale. Will post more pictures once I receive it and get it mounted up.

Looking forward to see this!

Are you moving the A5 over to the 223?

I sure am. Hoping it get the 223 load development going shortly after.

Very nice! You going to run the heavies? Will the 1:8 stabilize the 88 ELD-M? I just threw them from my Valkyrie upper and they're awesome to 920 yards (Furthest so far).

That said, my Tikka is @ The Firm Rifles getting a new Proof Research barrel. Looking forward to getting it back and a faster barrel hehe.

I have some 88's that I've tested before with less then desirable results so I'm guessing I would need a 7" or 7.5" twist to stabilize those puppies unfortunately. I do have some 80's I'm going to try, and if those don't work then I will drop down to the 77's.

Gotta love the proof barrels, definitely worth the money!

Don't over look the 75 grain ELD's, either. Those shot lasers in my 18" WOA barrel.

Man, you're making me wanna rebarrel my 223 Remington so I can shoot the heavies in that. Most I can run in a 1:9 (efficiently) is the 69smk.

I'm pretty good at that! I may even go one step further though and go to a 223AI with a 7 just for the added speed with the 88's.
