I like it. Weed out the fat, lazy and uninspired trash. During my time in the Army, Army Reserves and National Guard, I trained to run my 2-mile PT test by running a 5k.
those are things that really need tariffs or just not imported at all. yes i know,the end of human civilization if smart phones ceased to exist. would be Armageddon.
i don't have a problem with excluding products for which there is little or no "american made" option (yet).
i guess tariffs are a good tool because you can change the application quickly.
these exclusions can be removed once there are american manufactures to compete in the market, or could be applied on conditions that the supplier is actively building the capability to make them here.
