Re: US Military Died Today
Prior to being a correctional officer, when I worked patrol, I worked with a deputy, who later became a detective, who I had, and still have, a tremendous amount of respect for. In addition to his accomplishments as a police officer, he also served 2 tours in Iraq, 02-03, and then 04-05. He served in the infantry, out of Ft. Hood, Tx and operated the Bradley fighting vehicles. He survived several fire fights, had an RPG go off a few feet from his head. He suffers PTSD, and scar tissue that formed on his brain from the RPG has left him epileptic, and prone to siezures. He has had one operation already to lessen the siezures, and is on really expensive meds to prevent further siezures. Those meds are only partially covered by the VA. He is also an avid precision long range shooting enthusiast, and a huge 1911 fan. Not too long ago he and I were talking and he has no regrets about his decisions as far as joining the military. Oh, I also forgot to tell you he is gay.
I would like to see someone go up to him and tell him that his services were a waste because the country he was fighting for doesnt want people of his sexual preference defending their freedom. I can picture that person being pistol whipped, and then savagely beaten.......by a gay guy.
The US Military will change with the times, much like and with the rest of the world. Those who cannot handle the change, or cant accept it should stop watching the news, and shelter themselves in their den and watch John Wayne movies until the last day of their life comes.
