We had one gun a month years ago. As soon as we got a Republican Governor back, they wiped it out. Virginia has some history of erasing bad gun laws so it's not like other states that roll over and give up once bad things are passed. This all sucks but it's all fixable.

Worse thing that could happen is the Republicans put up an idiot against Fairfax when he runs for Governor. Put a strong candidate up against him, and support the hell out of him/her with every fiber of your being.

We've had Governors from both parties many times so this isn't a "Virginia turned blue" thing, it's a "We lost an election but we'll win the next one" thing.

IIRC that was the last time the Dems controlled everything in VA. They lost control of the legislature , governor, lt govenor, and attorney general. It's taken them 20 years to get back in control. Hopefully it will be a repeat next election cycle.

I suspect there are many in Russia, China, Iran, etc. that would never consider attacking the US on ground because of all the guns. i think we're barking up the wrong tree if we think there's a dr evil/russia/nk/bloomberg/soros that's behind taking our guns, to disarm us, so they can run roughshod over us. again, no one reasonably thinks a ban or whatever will remove anything but a small % of our firearms.

the moms, libs, snowflakes and the like just want guns gone because they're ignorant of guns. they're not going to use them for protection, so less guns = less chance that guns will be used against them. the more people we get interested, invested and knowledgeable with firearms, the less that will blindly vote to get rid of them. if you're expending all your energy against this invisible dr evil, you're wasting your time vs just getting kids and friends and associates interested in guns. politics and voting is just a numbers game, and we need to get our numbers back up.

On one hand I agree with you, on the other hand, history shows that such puppet masters and evil men with enough power, can and do exist. I like to believe in Occam’s Razor here but at the same I can’t prove that there isn’t a nefarious group that doesn’t want to rule us either.

I can however say there is/has been a huge push in the last 50 years to disarm us. But as you said, that could directly be a result of a numbers game. 50 years ago Guns were more mainstream, before that rural people relied on them for existence, people took their children shooting and hunting and so on. That could be it, could be the boogeyman or it could be both. I certainly don’t, much to the dismay of many here, run around thinking the gov is out to get us. I don’t literally think the gov wants to do its people harm for many reasons, mainly because if they did, they already wield so much power that it would be easy to do.

I think there are just people in power that are unfortunately misguided or they simply are playing the numbers game you mention hoping to keep their jobs. It’s hard to argue that gun lovers aren’t dwindling in number much the same way that the number of kids that actually play outside like I did as a kid are dwindling as well. Perhaps there is a correlation there. Either way, you aren’t wrong.
