Hey guys i have a vortex pst ffp leaking some type of fluid from the ring just before the 50mm objective.it had leaked a little since it was brand new but now it's leaking in three different places. just wondering if anybody else has experienced this.Thanks in advance.

Are you just seeing a bit of a sheen on the scope that makes you wonder? Its probably just a bit of oil seeping out. I've had that on almost every optic I've ever owned to varying degrees.

Strange. Give Vortex a call and see what they have to say. Only Vortex product I own is the Razor HD 10x42 bino's. They have a tiny bit of oil coming out of the seams but thats about it. As far as the glass and product quality I'm very happy with them. Hope all goes well and if you find out let us know what was up.

Also definitely call Vortex today. They make a great product and stand behind any problems. They will get it taken care of for you.
They are trolling as they are pissed that their BSA sniper delux has no warranty. So it eats at them like a cancer. So I have heard.
Since we are spouting off with what we hear.I have 7 PST's and Ive never used the warranty. I did have to use the Nightforce warranty once, and they were great. (Not saying Vortex is better than Nightforce) Had to use the Leupodl warranty once and they told me "product meets our standards, nothing repaired" (I am saying Vortex is better than Leupold MK4)
For someone who has never owned a Vortex product you sure sound like you think you know everything about them. Are there problems? Yes. Every 6 months? No that's just being idiotic to try and prove your point which doesn't hold water.
To each their own I guess. If you're happy with your Vortex, then I'm happy for you. Having said that, I personally know others who aren't.

I know "others" that are not happy with every other scope made... So I guess I don't get your point other than your taking a jab at one manufacture of an optic you have probably never owned.
I have not heard of any issues that I remember that were not taken care of and the optic work fine from then on. The "every six month" comment is just silly.
Should the "others" I know use your advise and every time they have an issue with "your most perfect brand" sell the optic?

Scopes sweat it can happen if you go up and down in altitude a lot. Haven't seen them with oil running down the length of the scope though usually just a 'sheen' around the objective bell.
If there is oil inside it say drops on reticule plane then I'd send it back.

I can say the same of the other scopes you mentioned in he other post where you were bad mouthing Vortex as well. I have owned multiple Bushnell, Millet, Burris, Leupold, SWFA, USO, Nightforce, Vortex, Premier, S&B, and one Hensoldt and I am sure others I have forgotten. You can find someone who has had a problem with anyone of those scopes but that doesn't make them garbage.
You need to readjust your means of ranking scopes if "knowing people who have problems with them" is what you are using. You won't be able to use any scope if that is the case. And to reiterate what 3D said, that every 6 months comment was ridiculous.
I can appreciate if you found that comment a bit abrasive, and yes nobodys product is immune from the odd defect. However... The frequency of threads that originate due to a defective product from Vortex seem to far out number any about other Manufacturers.

Yeah you must have seen hundreds in your few months here? Please. LOL You are wrong and don't want to admit it. That's fine but don't act like there are 10 posts a day on Vortex scopes having problems. They sells many thousands a year. There are a few posts here and even if you don't want to admit it some of those posts are user error or not understanding how they use the scope and think there is a problem but isn't. There are actual problems as well but they are no where near as frequent as you think.
If you would like to tell you a story about your newest awesome scope that you have and the return rate on those I can. I have had 5 and 4 had problems. Versus the 4 Vortex that i had with no problems.
People don't buy PST's because they are the best scopes on the planet. They buy them because they either can't or have no desire to spend $3k plus on a rifle scope. The Vortex PST fills a role in being affordable and of decent quality. Everyone here knows that S&B makes a better scope then the PST. I don't see your abrasive big boy wording making any points on the subject other then to possibly confuse new shooters or piss-off folks who can only afford a PST. Either way, being a dickhead is not going to help anyone. Be part of the solution, not the problem. Also, in defense of Vortex(not that they need it), I would reckon there are more PST's in use then all your Premier, S$B, USO, March, Hensdolt, etc. combined. I would also venture to guess that the percentage of defects in the PST line is on par with every other scope maker other then NF.

Please tell us about the five Steiner 5-25's you've owned and their host of problems you've encountered. Let me guess you sold them to buy Vortex PST's. Lol!
No sand here and no post count doesn't count for anything but you act like you have seen all these Vortex problem posts and you have only been here a few months. I am sure there are posts elsewhere but I am sure you don't see many other places either as i frequent quite a few forums. Didn't say anything about post count but it also seems like it's not just me who seems to think you're wrong.
If you want to act like an asshole and get personal then you can be on the outside looking in. Your choice.
It wasn't the Steiner you were talking about in the other post and not what I was talking about.
Send it back to Vortex. They will take care of you. And if Vortex is the best glass you can afford at that price point, then don't worry about the other comments in the thread. If anything, I would immediately start saving, sell the new/fixed PST when you get it back, and comb the snipershide optics for sale forum until you find a Vortex Razor 5-20 for sale that fits your budget. I've had both, and the Razor is in a completely different class. Some of the best glass you can get for the money, in my humble and limited opinion.
Oh and forgot to add that if the Vortex PSTs had the track record of problems which you think that word would have gotten around everywhere but it hasn't. It's a small community. Product problems spread like wildfire. It's known as a solid scope in it's price range.
If you read my other posts you would find that I am running S&B's currently with a Steiner on order, so it was the Steiner I assumed you were making reference to.

I don't know if it's me but the new 2.5-10x32mm PST is outstanding for the price. Any idea if Vortex is changing their glass on the newer versions with the aluminum mag ring yet to be released???

Yes opinions are like assholes but you are acting like your opinion is fact and it's not. Yes some scopes have problems but it is no where near the amount you make it sound like. As I said that word would have spread like wildfire and the scopes wouldn't sell. This community is small and like a bunch of old maids in that rumors run rampant and travel fast. That most stocking dealers are out of stock and waiting back orders on PSTs speaks volumes.
I personally don't have a Vortex PST yet. I have a 2.5-10x32 on order. I run S&Bs on my long range match guns but have had 3 Razors, which I have won at matches and they all worked fine. I do know many people with PSTs though and very rarely hear of problems and when there are they are taken care of by Vortex ASAP. They are a very good company with very good products that doesn't deserve to have rumors spread about them.

In a perfect world of non mechanical products that are never used in a real world scenario this would be true. Vortex warranty covers abuse, most companies only give you manufacturing defect warranties. Everything mechanical has a breaking point even without defects. I find comfort in the fact that if I drop my gun on some rocks when I am hiking/hunting because I just slipped on some mud that my scope will be replaced or fixed. Can't say the same about any of my guns......

I have 2 PST's, I rate them right along my two Bushy ET's and my S3. To the OP , just give them a call. Tell them what you are seeing and ask them to do a purge with argon so you will have peace of mind.
Thanks for all the replies guys , called vortex today and they said send it in and they will more than likely replace it.by the way the glass is still clear on the ffp and i own a sfp vortex and its been a good reliable tracking scope.
Marco - although I can kind of understand what you're trying to convey, the fact that you have never owned a Vortex product, yet you have reviews for it is a bit damning to your credibility. I have owned several Vortex products. Sure, I bought them because I believed the value was there, but I have had issues with 4/6 of their products. 2 of the 4 happened to be their best offering, yet mine had issues. These are my experiences. And from my experiences, I will now offer my opinion(s) on said matters. You, however, don't have a fucking foot to stand on, so I'd probably just leave the, "I've watched my buddies' Vortex products take shits on the firing line" deal alone (unless you own a Mueller Tactical and watched a guy's Razor take a shit during a competition about two months ago). It doesn't fly with MOST Hiders. MOST of them are rather discerning.
I would also do another thing, and that is this: Stay far the fuck away from telling Rob he has sand in his vag. That's a solid cat right there, and I'm an outstanding judge of that kind of shit. You'd be better served just dropping the subject. I, on the other hand, cannot practice as I preach.
