Maggie’s What's Your View II

The other day I saw the news story about a husband and wife who adopted 7 kids (all siblings) at once so they could keep the kids together.
Didn't mention why they needed adopted and I am sure it was something terrible.

Friggin lost it. Some gal saw me at my desk with tears and asked why. Then all the women got teary eyed.

Some things, money can't buy.....:)

Hi,

If same story I am thinking of..they already had adopted 2 kids from foster care previously.

Sincerely,

Yes, one with a lot of special medical needs. They are amazing people for sure.

I have posted about this family before and I will again. I grew up with a couple of these folks 3 biological children. All great kids. After their youngest was a few years old (say 8 or so) they felt the call to adopt kids who needed homes.

They were at 9 adopted children and Don (father) got a call about a little girl who was 4 yrs old out of Atlanta. Girl's mom was headed to prison for life with no parole and there was no family fit to raise the girl. Children's Services (or whatever its called) was looking for a foster-to-adopt home so the kiddo wouldn't have to bounce around so much. They let Don know she was a crack baby and without hesitation he said they would take her. The social worker said "ok, thank you, tomorrow we will take care of the rest of the paperwork and get this girl on her way. Now to find a home for her little brother."
Don asked about the brother, who was 3 and asked if they could have him too, so the siblings could grow up together.

Then he went home from work and told his wife they were about to grow by two. Pam didn't even blink, just asked how old and set about making a place for them and welcoming them into the family.

I never tell that story with a dry eye.

Their 3rd adopted Brandon was the cutest kid and I had him as a student when I helped with Vacation Bible School when I was in high school, if I remember right he was 3 that year. He grew into a tall and strong man, joined the Army out of high school to live the dream of serving like his grandfather (his grandfather was a Colonel). Brandon died in Anbar Province in a rocket attack by the Taliban on Nov 5, 1012, 10 days prior to when he was supposed to come home. He was 19 years old. He was with a Stryker Brigade from JB Lewis McChord.

Nor that one.

At least my wife is s fun teacher ?

Hi,

@Geno C.
Is that the companies original carousel pictured on the wall?

It is. A 1907 Parker. We still have it. Notice there’s no fence around it. No way that would fly with today’s kids/parents. My father in law used to sit in the center on the trouble spots with a live 120 wire and connect it to the steal to shock all the freeloader off. It has spinner blocks to make them fall when they try to jump on too.

He is actually the chunky kid in the bottom right. Black pants and red shirt. I’d guess this was taken in 1968ish

Geno, not sure what she is teaching?
You should misbehave just to stay after school in detention...... and play Van Halen’s “Teacher”. Im sure she would appreciate that! ?

You have a wonderful lady and you post a lot of pictures of her flashing her big genuine smile. Thats a gift every day.
Thanks! She is truely the best thing to happen to me. We try to have fun in life because it’s too short to take too seriously ? she teaches high school special ed. Originally a chemistry/biology teacher.

I’ve been known to play “hot for teacher” ?

We set the old thing up just for fun one fall about 6 years ago. Fired up the old gas motor and ran/rode it until 4am, drinking and telling carnie stories about the good ol days. FIL on the right, his brother behind him, and old Ed in the blue RIP. Ed was their dads friend way before either of them were ever thought of and was a carnie from 11-92 years old.

It takes closer to 7-8 hours to set up while our new one is closer to 2...

Ugh! A confounded nightmare! I got some ceiling texture on the armoire...wife had a shit fit till I showed her it'd come right off with damp rag.
Yeah, I'm glad this project is finito.
And The Boss says I should take a long break before I start on kitchen. Maybe after I get my new knee.

Bedroom flooring looks really good. But that living room floor? That is badass and looks amazing! You remeber what that was called? Besides a pain in the knee. ;)

A good friend of mine sent me some WA rye whiskey that isn’t sold outside their state. It’s tasting very good! By time this porterhouse is done, I’ll be on my second and haven’t eaten anything all day. Thanks amigo ?

No man, Thank You!

Larry needed a set of low 30mm PMR's. @Geno C. , who has one or two of everything, pulled through for me BIG time! Thank you Brother. Win Win !

What scope does Walmart sell with a 30mm tube?

Should look nice on your Keltec.

Hope all is well Mr Shartz. I know you have been busier than a 1 legged man.
With lots of interesting bailiff duties recently..... ?

Haysoos ! Show some respect for your elders, for Pete's sake ! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Absolutely!
I told my wife that helping this young family is all I want for Christmas. It gives me great joy to help in these small ways. My brother says sometimes people's prayers are answered when they didn't even realize they were praying.
Mason has a Christmas party tomorrow at the church daycare that he is at part time. Mom will help with that.
After that she's agreed to "help" me upgrade a customer's laptop.
She'll get some hands on experience and knowledge and I'll give her a share of the bill.
I'm nudging her into looking at the kinds of technical work that pay good money for a little bit of skill and knowledge.
It should be eye opening to make what would be a night's pay in the bar in about an hour.
Yes, it's charity. But it's wrapped up so it doesn't look like that.
Our group projects here have exposed some kind and generous souls lurking these halls of Hide. I'm sure they extend well beyond what we see here.

Living room is TrafficMASTER Allure, African Wood Dark. My wife was against it, said it was too dark, before install. She changed her mind after the compliments started rolling in......women.

ZomboMeme 24052018090748.jpg

Meme I did of our incinerator building. Pic is not altered, taken by industrial monitoring supervisor.
When he showed me the pic I said, "Dude I gotta have that pic! It'll make a great meme for the company."
Swear he said,"What's a meme."

That's steam coming out the stack. Don't you environmental Nazis go getting all high and mighty on me.

Thats awesome Geno!

We rode in a Ford ClubWagon.
We (my dad) moved the longer bench seat forward and built a bed behind it. We could store camping gear below the bed and had a lot of room behind it for most if our camping stuff.
I used to ride facing backwards some of the time leaning against the large engine or transmission cover that was between the front seats.
There were no TVs or game set-ups.
We did have a coffee can for us 3 boys to pee in (or drop a duece like my brother did once).

I used to dream of recreating that van in one with a Quigley conversion.

They make a 4x4 conversion for this sprinter van. If we end up really liking this one, I’ll probably fix the body and sell it and buy a newer southern one and build it how we want. We’ll see though. So far we are getting about 20mpg so that is a plus considering the headwind we have today. Might have to get a nice semi seat for myself. My ass isn’t find of these seats even with the suspension

Wanted to slam the SWFA SS 5-20x50 down on the 1:8 twist 7 Mag. You have any idea how adversely affected I am knowing I can't shoot it for probably another month or so? It's killing me !
Now back to packing a couple more boxes. Then a couple garbage runs tomorrow. Where'd all this shit come from, and why is it still here? :ROFLMAO:

Isn’t it funny how moving boldly illustrates all the shit you set aside that makes you scratch your head and think.......what the fug am I hanging on to that shit for?. When I moved from Millcreek I loaded up a no shit 27’ truck that was going to the dump???

No no no, my name is from the Old Testament!......

I didnt even send him a case of old guy diapers from Amazon. Yet.

Waiting till he moves. House warming gift!

May send him a little something else thats heartfelt.

Wanna split the shipping costs on a 200# Anvil ?:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Not blowing too bad up here. Tide is really high.
That’s was the first time making that. Definitely making it again!
Merry Christmas!

I'm staring at the Willapa as we speak and am surprised the wind has died, for now. Wind and lightning with sooo much heavy rain last night and now nothing. Crazy ass PNW.
