Maggie’s What's Your View II

I'm staring at the Willapa as we speak and am surprised the wind has died, for now. Wind and lightning with sooo much heavy rain last night and now nothing. Crazy ass PNW.

Took the MIL to the airport this morning. I-405 and I-5 had rivers of water running down them.......Just another "sunny" winter's day in the beautiful PNW......

Got to spend half the day with my youngest daughter and my 14yr old step son today.

Took them shooting.

They played ring the steel at 300yds using an AR, a 6BR and a 6.5 Grendel.
Their favorite was the BR, and the Grendel a close second.
Both agreed that an 8" at 300 was too easy.
I guess I'll buy a 4" steel to up the ante.

This was the first few for warmup before going cold range. They put a hurting on it after they got the groove going.

While we were out doing that, my fishing partner (on the right) was fighting this 48" Cobia 14 miles away.
Took him over 40 minutes to land it.

That'll make a few fish sammiches..

@1J04 wants to trade in his scope rings for some of the light up deals ya got...... Also, he was wondering if they “gauge up” at all for the more experienced......

Raining a lot so send petroleum based lub too please.
You too........reprobate ! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

(Besides, isn't he busy being the Louis Cecille B. DeMille of beastiality right now ?)

Got up this morning and got the coffee started.
After the first cup Rebecca and I decided to have some breakfast and the idea of French toast came up.
We scrapped that idea because the only syrup in the house was Mrs Butterworth.
Maybe next weekend.

Eggs and toast it was.

About a half hour after breakfast Rebecca decided to make some cookies for everyone.
While she was doing that, my daughter says "Hey, there's a package at the door."

The consensus was no-one was expecting any delivery.
Then it dawned on me that I was actually expecting a package from up north.

I had sent out some local Tampa coffee to a couple of Hide brothers and I got some pretty neat gifts in return.
Anyway, back to today's package.

It was heavy and it sloshed in the box. I opened it to find an entire quart of Ohio Maple Syrup, courtesy of our own @308pirate

Brother, that's gonna be the center of attention at breakfast next weekend.
Here's a pic of the yummy syrup right next to the cookies Rebecca is making.

You're more than welcome. TRUST me there is no going back to caramel-colored corn syrup after you taste the real deal.

The Navieras coffee was OK, but it had an aftertaste that was unfamiliar. Chickory maybe? Or just how it was roasted?

The Don Carlos..........OH MY.........now that is how cafe cubano is done. My goodness what a cup of Joe.

PS...Make sure you refrigerate the syrup after opening. That stuff is 100% organic with no preservatives. It will remain completely pourable while refrigerated, unlike the fake corn stuff.

Yep, that Naviera makes a great cafe con leche, but it's not good for straight espresso. Chicory flavor, maybe. My taste buds call it oaky. Not sure there's much difference unless one is familiar with chicory.
The Don Carlos has been great in every way I've used it.
Hint: grind 3 or 4 tablespoons up into a fine powder and mix some in with your dry rub when doing ribs.
It gives a great flavor and the acid in the coffee tenderizes the meat even more.

After yesterday's running around in two states it was nice to not log a single road mile today.
Took the kid to work yesterday morning. Halfway home Mrs T tells me we need vegan cheese for our special needs (vegan) daughter for Wednesday's lasagna. OK, so who has that?
Looks like it's about 90 miles from here. Alright, we'll go grab some lunch and pick up the anti cheese, then head home. Emily said she was pretty sure she's got a ride home lined up.
She didn't... And we're 90 miles in the wrong direction.
So I run the wife home and head back to where I started.
I was tired, but I smiled and told the kid it was no trouble. Joked that gas is so cheap now that I'm actually making money riding all over.
Took her by Walmart to get some last minute stocking stuffers for her little guy and then dropped her off at her home.
Another 30 minute ride and I was home.

She just sent me a Christmas message, stating how deeply thankful she was for having us enter into her life at the exact right time.
I told her she was welcomed, but I'm just following orders. Thank the boss when you talk to him tonight as you drift off to sleep, and tell him happy birthday.

Watch out for those nurses......

I am engaged to one. Kindest soul I have ever known. Including my mother who is a saint and a nurse.

Congrats Bryan.

Tucker, nice work brother man. Following orders. I like that. Those orders probably came through pretty gently and you are just in a spot to listen.
Merry Christmas to you and yours. Wish a Merry Christmas to my buddy Mason. I have a big soft spot for that kiddo.
We might need to do a Hide man thing for his birthday.......?

Momma just headed home with her two little ones and we will reconvine tomorrow at 1100 to open gifts and eat some prine rib I am making......

Merry Christmas!
Little guy was sick last night and today. She said he seems to always get sick at Christmas. Last year was spent in the hospital.
Strep, respiratory, and pink eye - but he's doing a little better tonight with meds.

I'm probably going to see if my mother in law will come out of cake making retirement to do him up a nice T-Rex cake for his birthday on the 19th.
She makes some incredible and delicious works of art, but arthritis has her down to just doing them for really close friends and family.

Christmas day has less than 3 minutes to run down here, told the grandkids today that we were taking them to Disney and Vegas, grand daughter was excited but seemed to be mainly happy about missing a few days of school, her younger brother is genuinely Autistic/ special needs bombarded us with facts about the places we told him we would be visiting. Strangely he knew nothing about Disneyland but quoted every fact known about Hoover Dam. Interesting times coming but I did get to book our seats so we are not sitting together on any flights
