Maggie’s What's Your View II

Geesh, I didn’t realize we were that bad. ^^^

It's different out there in the heartland. Ours come from the cities of the Northeast, and like the others said, they move here for a way of life that is friendlier, slower-paced, and more neighborly, but then they want to start changing things to be more like what they're used to.
We have a saying that the only difference between a yankee and hemorrhoid is that a hemorrhoid will go back up.

Yep, and in VA y'all have Yankees, damn Yankees, and half-backs.

Yankees come down south for a visit and leave
Damned Yankees come and stay
Half-backs make it down to Florida or the Coast somewhere, then make it halfway back home and end up in Va, the Carolinas, etc

Down here we also get to enjoy the yearly Snowbird migration overtaking our campgrounds

Here's more hawking pic my girlfriend took. Myla the goshawk missed three grouse that day so all we got was some pictures....LOL

Don't worry rednecks are taking over the North Too.....LMAO

Someone had to go north and show y'all how to drill for oil. Judging by the newly elected Mayor of Helena, it sounds like y'all may need a bunch more of us up there. ;)

In all seriousness though, as Tucker said before with tnichols , y'all up there in the Great Plains and northern wilderness aren't what we consider to be "Yankees".

OH....I'm from Tennessee....LOL I'm representin' up here for all of us rednecks.

I did my time trying to introduce some Southern sense to the southside of Chicago and had enough of that shit. One of the few "God, guts, 'n Guns" guys I met up there is driving down this weekend to do some 'Merica with me and some buddies. We're taking bets on whether he ever leaves.

Not my view, but I felt it was worth sharing.
My wife works for a local electric co-op here in Virginia.
They just got a crew back home from helping out in sirhrmechanic 's neck of the woods in the granite state.

"As an electric cooperative, SEC operates according to a set of core principles, one of which is “Cooperation Among Cooperatives.”

We would like to welcome home the six SEC linemen that aided New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC) following devastating storms that ripped through the state on October 29th.

Welcome home, guys!"

Too soon... the good news is that opening day is tomorrow. And I have a whole bunch of kids coming to hunt the deer woods at Schloss Nitrocellulose. So this will make for a good opening day, I think! Certainly easy to track!

And based on the weather forecast... it will be gone in a few days...

Cheers,

Sirhr

Just enough to make it pretty but not so much you have to move it. Beautiful shot.

Thats beautiful, and you can have it. I rejoice in the idea that I've moved my last flake of snow. We had a front come through yesterday that dropped us into the 50's, warming into the 70's today and through the weekend with bluebird days.

I dont miss miss driving around in a dirty ashtray for 6 months of the year. If I had a Schloss I'd probably feel differently.

Thats one thing that sucks about winter-keeping vehicles clean. Can’t argue that.

Shooting this morning from the deck was brisk to say the least. 18 degrees F with a stiff breeze from the NE, windchill of 8. Bare fingers don’t last long in that.

I took off Friday to hunt with an old buddy. Also hunted with him Saturday, sort of.

Didn't see any worthy shooters, so no pics of monster bucks.

Friday afternoon the walk in got a little interesting.

Possible gnome hideout.

Checked my game cams on my place this morning and we have kittens!

MvtZSTj.jpg

Saturday was a bit of a let-down.
Turns out my buddy got into a drinking contest Friday night with a couple of local youngsters from the hunt club.

He unconscious until about 8:30 and useless until about 2 PM, which is when we finally got out to the woods.
I didn't see anything worthwhile, but he did take a big male coyote off the planet (no pics).

I took this shot of his old boots while I was in his basement waiting for him to come to life. I think I am going to start a GoFundMe giving him shit about his drinking and not being able to afford both booze and footwear.

Damn you gotta lotta cool stuff going on around there, cept for the 'chiggers' n such. :p Back to work today. Chased 2 Bulls around Friday and Saturday in the timber around some friends property. Could not get a shot off in that thick crap they're hiding in. Damn near every year a couple Bulls will break away and get outta the hills and head for the lowlands near the river to hide out. Think'n we're gonna have to burn'm out since we didn't have enough people obviously to drive'm into a spot to kill'm. The brush in this swampy timber spot is so fricking thick it's almost impossible to fall down in there.

Good luck on your future endeavors my friend !!!!! Keep us posted.

You need to chunk a handful of beagles into them thickets. Accidentally.

I think you're right. One of my buddies that lives on that piece of property had a long haired dachshund years ago named Teddy.

dachshund-longhaired.jpg

Teddy was a Norwegian Elkhound in his little heart.

I had a couple Elkhounds in the long long ago and I'll tell ya, Teddy was a fucking terror on Elk. They didn't know what to think when that little shit showed up amongst them in the shit. He may or may not have come in handy a few times finding a dead animal or four. When we'd have the animal hung in the pole building and the head on the ground outside the main doors he'd nut up on that damn thing like it was still alive. Chew on the ears, bite the jaw and face and basically stand guard over it. No dog or man could approach it without getting some Teddy growling. Funny as hell. After boning out the quarters and rib cage we'd toss the bones out back and that damn dog would do it's best to eat at least it's body mass in scraps n bone marrow. Miss that little fucker. ;)

And later today. Didn’t have a lot of time in the timber, but ended up with 3 little stacks like this. 35 degrees and VERY damp, but no wind, so it was comfortable to work in.

Nice job buddy. Keep it up and you might make it through the winter. ;) I'm starting to think you've got yourself some demented wood fetish like our other buddy down in the sunshine state. :p

You should take a day off from that saw and go fishing with me tomorrow.

My new Rolls Axle trailer will be completed this afternoon, and I'll need to test it out.

I'll be able to park the Hewes in the garage from now on. No more going to get it, and taking it back to storage.

I was having fun with your fellow Plainsman Nodakplowboy's Ebonic turn of phrase, good sir. No aspersions were in fact cast towards Omaha, NE, nor towards the Grange, to the P, to the izz-H, boooooy.

;)

Norsky Ebonics:

Ole: "Yay vell Sven, how's it ah going today?"
Sven: "Aw yah Ole, I tells yah, alls dat dere snow, shes be deep".
Ole: "Yay, yay, dis be da truth, dat for sure. We's was a digging out all dis morning to gets the cows fed, yay".
Sven: " Yay, and it looksa like it's here to stay, dat it tis. Vas its a cold at your place?".
Ole: "Uffda, yay, the mercury stick showed a minus 4 dis morning. Dats a cool one, yay".
Sven: "Yay, dat it tis, and a colder it's a gonna gets. Must be dat dere global warming, huh?".
Ole: " Yay, yay, dats a good von, dere Sven! Dat dere global warming, sure makes it's ah cold, it does. Gots a time for some coffee, yay?".
Sven: "Yay, you betcha I's do. Dey gots fresh cookies dis morning, I'll bet. Meetcha dere".

Translation:

Winter is here to stay.
It's going to get colder than a well diggers ass.
Liberal suck.
Cookies and coffee are good.

I shit you not, I've heard various renditions of this conversation multiple times. Those old 2nd generation immigrants that settled this country are some tough birds. The Child Bride is 3rd generation Norsk, so I have to be careful with the Ole and Lena yokes.

I be like 5th generation Kraut, so don't have the accent. But sure do enjoy it. Dat I do.

Im down to 2 hobbies anymore with busy kids, job, etc... Obviously one is LRP rifle and the other being running saw. Now the second one I freely admit has got to be about the dumbest hobby in the world, ‘cause it’s fricken WORK, but it keeps me moving and in shape I guess. Plus, I don’t hunt so it gets me out in the timber with all the same scenery as hunting.

As as far as making through the winter, I think we’ll be ok ;).

Headed over to a buddy's place last night to cut meat around 1800 (Dark) and not 75 yards from my house a damn 5x5 'walks' across the road bout 12 yards in front of me. wtf? Well, there's one. Last day of the season today and Jimmy's gotta work. So I get a hold of another buddy who's not tagged out to go after him this morning. Woke up to looking out the window and seeing him cougaring around in the timber across the street. That bull is doing exactly what so many do every year. They get tired of the pressure in the hills and being pushed so they throw everyone a change up and sneak into little pockets on the edge of the valley. Sneaky bastards. Waiting patiently for the call that he killed him. Fingers crossed boys.

Now then, anyone up for a chicken wing? lmfao:p

My buddy is a bachelor so cutting meat in the living room is acceptable, and preferred.

Just texted ya but I'll put it up here as well. Where else can ya go over to your buddies place, cut Elk meat in the living room with an Elk picture on the wall and a rogue cat that ate his weight in scraps? Right here is where. Hate that fucking cat.......... :p

A couple of “boot rides” may persuade him to stay off folks. Works real fine here on the farm felines.

Funny thing is is my buddies ex girlfriend outta the blue dropped 2 fucking cats off at his door step while he was logging. He doesn't have it in him to just cull'm. The one has no fear obviously but the other is smart and keeps outta site.

So I'm stupid enough to post that pic and immediately get texted this pic and caption.

"My beard will beat that biology experiment on your face up and take it's lunch money".

I'd like to take back all the nice things I've said about the people on this site........ :p
