Thats AWESOME! Do you PNW fella’s do ANYTHING sober? ;)

So I’m headed home this afternoon on the ATV from painting steel and spotted my ol’ buddy Chuck nibbling grass on the shoulder. Rolled up to the house, dumped my backpack and grabbed the 243 and a rear bag. I built a hasty and goofy field position which involved the kids trampoline structure, rear bag (not used on the rear), a insulated chore glove, and from a kneeling (kinda’) position. Guessed him to be at 100-120 yards. The result of a 70 grain Nosler...strawberry JELL-O.

We got a dandy of a rain last night and today! Over 2 inches total.

I spent 6 hours on the mower yesterday getting ready for it. The seed and amendments have been laying there for weeks. We had a small rain the other day which loosened the soil up enough that I could finally make an impact with the dethatcher. I use that to rake in seed and nutrients to improve germination.

The newly reworked feed into the pond is working great, and the best news is that it actually got some water coming into it today!

LOVE IT !!!! Chuck's gonna be a little late getting home tonight. Nice job. A dab of whipped cream on the top would be cool. ;)

He was gone (as in, had disappeared from his resting place) an hour or so after sunset. Judging from the “carrying on” sounds from southwest of here tonight, he made a fine meal for some yote pups. Their day is coming!

Just doing my part to keep everyone happy, warm, and fed in SW Jones County for the last 10 years.

lol Tucker said "package" and you said "Jones'n".

all good in the hood, homeboy...
we gotta do a camping extravaganza here soon...
too much beer, fireworks, bb guns and beer

Man that definitely sounds like the beginnings of a plan. Although this go around I'd really like to get out on the water with Mike Casselton and drag up some dinner for all of us. Blackened redfish or trout almondine over a grill seems like a good starting point. Crabmeat-stuffed flounder wouldn't make me angry either.

Spent an amazing "Fall" day at a friend's camp on Dauphin Island, just off the coast of Alabama. We fished the canal then walked across the road so my lady could see the Gulf.

Totally random heads up, if y'all have a Firehouse Subs location in your area, they sell those 5 gallon pickle buckets with a lid for $2 (no tax). The money goes to their public safety fundraising campaign and it's about the cheapest source of clean, food safe, 5 gallon buckets I've run across. Added benefit is that your mouth will be watering smelling the residual pickle odor until you get them stunk up with bait, fish, crabs, whatever.

When that sun went down over the gulf, you didn't notice any nekkid swimmers running around the beach, did you?

Amazingly, my clothes remained on out of decency for my fishing podnah that was with us. Momma did have to walk my nekkid ass into the house from the truck the other night though.
You may need to warn Rebecca if we're gonna do the island camping thing. Make sure there's some eye bleach in the kit next to the Deet.

Checked out the smokeless Savage this afternoon. Opener is Saturday.
I haven't turned one click on the Leupold in 3 years.
2 rounds @150.
I was expecting about an inch lower, but we're good.

That's legit shit right there man. You doing powder or pellets? 150 grains or so? Ya know, if I remember correctly from some years ago you use to use either triple 7 or that Jim Shockey FFg or FFFg. Either way, scrub that bore and go !!!!

I'm glad they weren't around when I was a kid. I had a 50 cal Hawken as a kid and would cup my hand at the bore and pour Pyrodex RS strait out of the bottle. Powder wet? No problem, I'd take the nipple out and pack more powder in there and hit it again with another cap. I really had no business being left alone with it...

lol We're glad you're still here to share the story ya crazy bastard. :p

Just seeing all of this. Yeah, 100 grains would likely produce undesirable results.
43 grains SR4759 under a 250 XTP nestled in a sabot.

Well thx for the clarification stud muffin. You coulda highlighted "Smokeless" in bold ya know. Seriously awesome group, like sex right? You flush that tube every 4-5 shots before it goes south? I don't know. I have no Smokeless Smokepole experience.

If you still have all your fingers........I guess you did alright.

No need. I haven't cleaned the rifle in four years at least.
I'm going to test at 200 tomorrow, hopefully. I nicked a yote last year at 200, and I want to get a better handle on my dope in the out yonders.

Whoever designed the breechplug did a hell of a job.

I've heard and read stories about the havoc smokeless powder played on a lot of reloaders when it entered the market. I'm not a blackpowder cartridge loader, but I seem to remember hearing it's safe at 100% fill ( I could be way off there).
