where the fuck did all this gray shit come from
Apparently better than I thought, from Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DUKW
The DUKW was designed by Rod Stephens, Jr. of Sparkman & Stephens, Inc. yacht designers, Dennis Puleston, a British deep-water sailor resident in the U.S., and Frank W. Speir, a Reserve Officers' Training CorpsLieutenant from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[SUP][7][/SUP] Developed by the National Defense Research Committee and the Office of Scientific Research and Development to solve the problem of resupply to units which had just performed an amphibious landing, it was initially rejected by the armed services. When a United States Coast Guard patrol craft ran aground on a sand bar near Provincetown, Massachusetts, an experimental DUKW happened to be in the area for a demonstration. Winds up to 60 knots (110 km/h), rain, and heavy surf prevented conventional craft from rescuing the seven stranded Coast Guardsmen, but the DUKW had no trouble,[SUP][8][/SUP] and military opposition to the DUKW melted. The DUKW later proved its seaworthiness by crossing the English Channel.
The final production design was perfected by a few engineers at Yellow Truck & Coach in Pontiac, Michigan. The vehicle was built by Yellow Truck and Coach Co. (GMC Truck and Coach Div. after 1943) at their Pontiac West Assembly Plant and Chevrolet Div. of General Motors Corp. at their St. Louis Truck Assembly Plant; 21,147 were manufactured before production ended in 1945.[SUP][8][/SUP]
My mistake, would not want to be on deck of a Littoral in heavy weather, looks like they go through waves rather than over them. As for the DUKW, we saw one doing tourist trips somewhere and Pam thought it would be a good idea, I managed to talk her out of it. Watching the news later that night at the hotel, it had sunk and not all passengers were rescued. I think we were in Thailand at the time.
Just texted ya but I'll put it up here as well. Where else can ya go over to your buddies place, cut Elk meat in the living room with an Elk picture on the wall and a rogue cat that ate his weight in scraps? Right here is where. Hate that fucking cat..........
How the f&%# did my cat Pouncey get on AJ's shoulder? He doesn't even have a credit card to book an airline ticket?
Damnation, now I gotta go waterboard Pouncey to find out how he got out west and back without my knowing it. Damn African cats....
Cheers,
Sirhr Yes, I typed that, AJ.
All that grey shit comes from growing too old to die young, and a lifetime of "hold my beer and watch this" moments. Pussies leave an undamaged corpse.
I took off Friday to hunt with an old buddy. Also hunted with him Saturday, sort of.
Didn't see any worthy shooters, so no pics of monster bucks.
Friday afternoon the walk in got a little interesting.

Possible gnome hideout.
Checked my game cams on my place this morning and we have kittens!
Saturday was a bit of a let-down.
Turns out my buddy got into a drinking contest Friday night with a couple of local youngsters from the hunt club.
He unconscious until about 8:30 and useless until about 2 PM, which is when we finally got out to the woods.
I didn't see anything worthwhile, but he did take a big male coyote off the planet (no pics).
I took this shot of his old boots while I was in his basement waiting for him to come to life. I think I am going to start a GoFundMe giving him shit about his drinking and not being able to afford both booze and footwear.
I finally got somewhat caught up on work and took the afternoon off to do round 1 of the leaf cleanup.
Still a lot of leaves yet to fall.

Hate cats too.....grin
I've been lurking now and then.
i'm glad the forum is no longer part of that Scout lashup.
I'm still shooting the 308 and 30-06, dabbling in some AR stuff a little bit. Nothing 'cutting edge'.....grin.
I hate you.....
Cheers,
Sirhr
You will hate me more when I tell you I killed the one in the back.
I know that big bull.
Were you hunting the Willapa Hills by chance?
