That is a noble sentiment, but what is your battalion going to eat? Unlike your experiences OCONUS there will not be a supply chain.

I believe Redmass lives in an area that produces a surplus of Food. That is a noble sentiment, but what is your battalion going to eat? Unlike your experiences OCONUS there will not be a supply chain.
Cow and corn. We're surrounded by it, and gardening is a way of life in the western mountains. That is a noble sentiment, but what is your battalion going to eat? Unlike your experiences OCONUS there will not be a supply chain.

Having over eight years in war zones, I have my own experienced based opinion of what works. While others may be accepting or even perpetuating the decay of society, I'll be working to help keep it together and strengthen it further.
I bet I'll be in at least a battalion of citizen patriots that will stand a greater chance of survival than the best prepped prepper. Know your community, it goes far and wide in a disaster, regardless of what created the disaster.
my hoods in S Florida and here in Texas were seriously perfect pictures of teamwork handling hurrucanes, taking care of the old and those hit harder. then going over to the next neighborhoods to help, pretty standard in these two states. Both states shoot looters on site, Fla more so than Texas.
I think it is kind of pointless to prepare for a disaster that lasts more than 3-4 months. It probably makes sense to have food and water for 6 months but in reality, any disaster that lasts that long is not something that is going to be really recoverable.
You hit it smack on the nose; I'm retired. I can look up on the Stronghold, I honestly doubt I could climb to it.

Don’t think Phoenix would have any issues at all? Complete shit show for sure sorting out the makers from the takers. True relationships aren’t made when things are easy, there made when things are hard and ugly. Damn few of my neighbors would understand that concept and have no sense of community. Spent my youth wanting to get the hell out of a small town.....now I’d kinda like to go back and certainly so under a shtf scenario.
That’s pretty standard anywhere in the SE for the most part.
Phoenix is so fuq'd. You couldn't get out of here w a 2 dayhead start. I went to Payson over Labor Day. Spent more time stopped than I did driving. 5.5 hrs to make a 2hr drive.
No need to reinvent the wheel. We've had ways of appointing publicly supported leaders and enforcing law and order since the beginning of civilization. I'm not saying it will be immediate and easy and I'm certainly not saying to ignore ArmyJerry's mantra of "Buy more ammo", but it is far from Hollywood's apocalypse scenarios.Agreed. But, you are going to have to maintain control of them, which will be the hardest part and everyone has to chip in as you already know.

the same as they ate before the civil war, bring your own shit to eat, officers get them food and ammo. simple, we survived a good way through our own civil war that way on both sides.
You're kind of turning me on with that. Most city dwellers wouldn't know how to skin and gut an animal properly. Cities will turn into nothing but large graveyards
You're kind of turning me on with that.
I live in the High Desert, about 1/2 a tank's distance from any major population center, and about 45 minute's drive from any smaller municipalities. I literally look left and up from the end of my driveway at Cochise's Stronghold, and the first lesson I take from its presence is the fact that the land just barely supported his small band of experts in the field of survival.
why are you planning to attack each other, you need to go after the ones that caused this situation, start keeping a Christmas list, ones who get coal and ones who nice. I will be on the offense, think it will take 24 hours to jell that we are in a SHTF moment then those responsible need to pay. RWOL goes both ways. Stop thinking Red Dawn and start thinking Saigon 1975 except we are Charlie.

The elite few may be bastards and bitches but they are not entirely stupid and, for the most part, have above average wherewithal. They will be able to evacuate quickly and quietly. Any breakdown in communications will only help them.
There will be plenty of backstrap to gnaw on in NO!not new orleans
I'm thinking by the time people realize the water in the drain is swirling fast they are going to have a lot more things to worry about than extracting revenge upon the elite few. And if they do, it will be localized.

Inasmuch as I will hold them in the deepest contempt, there will be no time give a shit. I've a family to see to and protect, by any means available to me.
The one I love is when they say "I am headed to the mountains when the SHTF"
You and 10 million others, good luck with that.
His liberal, pacifist wife was with him one night. He was jumped by 3 guys outside on the way to the car. While dealing with one the others knocked him nearly out. His wife picked up some object, I cannot recall what it was. Anyway, she liked to beat the 3 guys to death. Literally. He came to, had to pull her off. She was breaking bones, smashing skulls.
Afterwards she refused to acknowledge it ever happened and resumed her pacifist BS.
You assume no one else knows, or can execute from, those play books. Bad assumption. When family is involved and the others do not want to assist polite offers, well, force becomes required to insure teh mission is completed. Do I care if someone else gets offed to support my family in a STHF scenario? No. I'll be as ruthless as required as taught by the Marines. Mission first at all costs. Failure is not an option, and your feelings do not matter. A full tank should go the distance to point B, but in the event it does not, and extra fuel is used to run, the first point with fuel will be politely asked to assist for barter or goods. If they do not assist, we move out to a point unseen, and a probing mission against the group away from the fuel happens. A second probe goes down immediately after the first just a few degrees off the first, then the opposite few degrees. Once the group is fully involved in stand to at the attack points, a three man team comes in, gets the fuel, and away we go. Between three or four vehicles though, I am certain this will be a scenario not needed and movement will be completed in about 5 hours
People think I do GORUCK and adventure races because I like the outdoors and am a masochist. While that is partly true, it is also because I work 36 miles from home, on the far side of a large metropolitan shithole. The mtb isn't in the truck just because I like to hit the trails after work. From wherever the truck can go no more I can easily throw on the ruck and go 50 miles on foot (preferably at night), further if I had to, and much further on the bike.
I also have the travel anxiety. I will not be getting away from trips to NYC any time soon. So I have a plan to handle that too.
Chocolate or Vanilla? And, while its storming outside you can watch Stormy inside. Good Plan. Is your Tissue and Lube supply sufficient?I'm just gonna eat ice cream and watch porn until all you fucking kooks get done killing each other off.

A lot of people have nightvision or thermal. Some people have fun stuff like mgs and belfeds. Few households don't have a hunting rifle that will punch right though your armor while you are trying to steal stuff. And ar15s are selling like crazy. So you might steal some gas. It's probaly going to cost you a lot more than you are planing on
