I have neighbors that say that. I’ve assigned them all jobs ahead of time and let them know. Some are teachers, seamstress’, obviously my doctor, etc...and some have been made aware that they are on the menu.
Yup... I get the "I guess we know where to go when the SHTF" The simple and unprepared think everyone else will save them....

One of them expressed dismay until I explained to them that when the grasshoppers turn into a plague, they got to go through me to get to them. I told them I don't care what their politics are, they're my friends; and maybe it might help if they stopped caring what my politics are.

I wish there were still cheap crates of SKSs to arm the useful ones. Thinking about getting a bunch of cheap ARs for them. in some SHTFs you will need some extra people around.
There used to be crates of cheap Soviet SKS rifles available once upon a time around $80 in singles or $600 for a case of 10.
However that was around 25 years ago. So if you consider how much money was actually worth back then (as based on say the price of gas, gold, milk, bread, land), you'd probably be about right comparing them with the entry level cheap AR rifles you can get today.

Bought a beautiful Norinco Paratrrooper SKS for $75 . Man I kick myself in the ass everytime I think about it for not buying four .

I've told all the people that make those kinds of comments to go fuck themselves.....when things get that bad I will be long gone, along with all of my "goodies". In other words....."you ain't gettin shit". Certainly nothing above and beyond what you have bought for yourself, just like I have all these years. Your lack of planning and taking things (history) seriously is not my problem. But I did buy a trio of 91/30's for my family about six years back. Those stayed in NY where they could be more useful. I also left a can of ball ammo, I figure they could probably use some of it when it ran low to 'purchase' themselves some more...: I mean, if things actually got bad enough to need them in the first place.
The 91/30, not a world beater (although one might ask the shade of Herr Adolph H on that point); but it might could be an OK perimeter guard rifle.

Back around those times I only could scrape up enough money to buy a single SKS, I had to pass on a beautiful Bulgarian AK because I couldn't swing the $130 they wanted for it.
Everyone on walking dead is can instantly pull off head shots on the run even though there never handled a gun before. I'm sure it will be like that with everyone...
I never liked the AK's. I preferred SKS's. I bought a Norinco then, and another later, both gone now, but I have a new, gorgeous and unfired 66A1 Yugo (ahem, not, nay never, ever for sale). The Yugo has had installed a GI Style rear sight and a 2" UTG stock extension, I am quite a bit taller than 6'.
I used the first Norinco as, A) a test mule for my first semi-auto glassbedding project, and B) to gain match credits to buy my DCM Garand.
So, here was some method to my madness, after all...

There are a few guys at work with which I've developed some level of trust after knowing them for nearly a decade. There are also a few guys I've met through firearms ownership who have earned my trust. All of them, like me, are former military.
Other than that, nobody else I know is privvy to what I have or what I can/will do. I make acquaintances with my kid's friends parents (only for her sake) and some are nice people but I have not met a single one who isn't a clueless non-gun-owning urbanite/suburbanite. I tell them nothing and I offer them nothing. They are less than worthless, and I acknowledge their existence only because my child is friends with theirs. Otherwise I wouldn't give them the time of day.

hard alcohol is great to have in abundance, its sterilizes water, cleans wounds, can be drank, gets chicks hornier, beer is good but volume vs potency is a waste of room.

Nah man, I am a good drinker, never got into a drunken brawl that I would not have done when sober. Simple acid reflux believe or not. Its fuking terrible. I miss drinking.
I would miss my Bourbon but I have slowed down a lot since I don't do a lot of business trips any longer
one other staple besides 308 and 556 green tips is salt, keep a good supply of salt.

I would load out and go to a spot already discussed and start building a defensive perimeter. Prepare for the worst case being heavy armored vehicles/tanks because it’s a matter of time before the gangs come.

I gotta say, if the SHTF I am going on the offensive, there is a lot of cleaning up that needs doing. Think about t gents, never let an opportunity go to waste. I know where I would go and what I would do. Lots of national criminals to be held responsible and accountable for a lot of crimes, lots of justice to be served.
