I have scopes from the major vendors and of all of them, I've had the most fit with Leupold tracking. With that said, I like their customer service but hate the fact that their product doesn't instill confidence. With that said, which brand of scope seems to track closest to true according to the turret? I'm looking at the new Steiner scopes and wonder if we had to rank the major vendors in the turret cranking dept., who holds true? I'm most interested in the sub $2.5K market but open to hearing all comments.

You should not have a detectable tracking issue with any scope over $1000, and for that matter it's not really excusable for a scope over $300 or so. Your experience is why Leupold is having to reestablish themselves in the high end market.
Stock answers.... well, Nightforce certainly. Any other premium grade brand like S&B, Zeiss, Premier, USO, Steiner Military should all be expected to track perfectly and fixed on the maker's dime if they don't. Anything else trying to play in that same game, like Vortex Razor, should also be expected. I've had excellent tracking and return to zero with a Sightron SIII, which is only a $800 scope. Some of this depends whether you expect perfect tracking in relaxed sporting use, or perfect tracking when bashing around in ATVs, small aircraft, dropping your rifle, etc.

Steiners are awesome. The HDMR is very well known for it's great tracking above its other features.
I have had 2 scopes checked by Score High and both had tracking issues 1 better than the other but they both had small issues at different settings and they also have had issues with click value being measured off from what the caps say the values are but my LR PMII S&B did track a little better than my Leupold Mark 4 ER/T. Charley has a very refined set up to check tracking and I am really impressed on his method as him being a competition shooter he gets doing it rite as it gets you as close to perfect once ya know exactly what the optik can do! You get a worksheet after every install and it has all the data and it's probably so amazing it will take you some time to understand his numbers but I am getting better as this is my 3 rd install and work sheet! Kinda simple for shooters and I guess I am getting better understanding his worksheets!

If you are looking for a tactical scope 2k or less then it's Vortex Razor, Nightforce F1, Bushnell HDMR...Steiner intrigues me but I would wait for their newer models to come out...............
I would go with Vortex, new Steiner or best would be the March 3-24X 42 mm or new 52 mm. All are very good.
Nightforce and March are most popular with demanding Benchrest and highpower shooters. By volume, nightforce is the leader. March was introduced to the US by Benchrest shooters tired of sending their Leupolds in for repair.
