Colorado got hit with a flood of Californians back in the 90's. Between them and the flood of New Yorkers and those from Vermont in the 80's, it changed a great place to live into another Liberal shit hole.
And how can California and it's stupid CARB "approved" ideas force it's laws on the other 49 States with gas can nozzles that require someone with three hands to pour fuel into a lawn mower. Try pouring diesel into a fuel tank that's at head level on a Sno-cat with one of those stupid CARP approved fuel cans.

While the OP didn't mention it I think a lot of this has to do with the attitude towards those in CA, more so than the actions, especially as this thread has framed. It's completely understandable when a dealer says no thank you on a transaction to CA simply because they don't want to have any potential backlash. I'd bet money that no one knows all of CA's gun related laws, and if it's extra work they don't need they are free to pass on the sale. But if you feel the need to place blanket assumptions on someone because of where they live, or whatever BS profiling, and then make ill comments or outright attack them, you're an A-hole. Just because they can move doesn't mean that they should, or even want to. Guns are not the most important things in most peoples lives. And while CA gets a lot of other things wrong as well, it doesn't mean that the pros of living here outweigh the cons for every single person. The parameters differ on an individual basis.

It should be popping up on the ballot in 2016.
And I would hope for new state constitutions, which in Socal I would hope couldn't care less about NFA items.
On the surface it feels like its about gun laws but as I read these responses it seems to go much deeper than that. If you look at the actions of our Gov you will see that we the People need to unite for our own sake. Fighting like children is going to get us nowhere, fast. Keep your state and I will keep mine, but we can share the wealth and prosperity with each other is all I'm saying. United is in our blood, or at least mine, so when I see fear starting to create separation so easily, I know we are not ready to govern ourselves yet. The time for intelligent decision making is around the corner. I know that there are a lot of people who feel like I do and eventually progressive thinking will be the majority.

I'll sell to a CA buyer only if I'm not required to do anything more than I am with a buyer from another "Free" state.

I lived in Cali for 3 year and change. The is A LOT to like. Outside of Alaska, more of the state is federally owned than any other state. There are many state and federal forests, parks, recreation areas, etc for outdoor rec. Those that live in San Diego can be snow skiing in the morning and surfing in the afternoon, or visa versa. I had more shooting ranges within an easy drive of my residence than I did living in Austin, TX (and Houston TX for that matter). While I have not done it, "drive out into the desert and shoot as much as you want" is an activity that those in SoCal can enjoy. Northern California is full of timber and most of it makes for beautiful dark timber hunting. I did have the pleasure to turkey and deer hunt in NorCal for 2 seasons, and they were some of the most memorable and enjoyable hunts of my life. San Francisco is a fun place to visit, but it gets old after about the 3rd time out of town guests have to see the GG bridge. Wine touring through Napa and Sonoma (and the lesser known valleys) can be some of the best times you'll never remember. And, California has some of the finest universities in the country. The weather is beautiful most of the year, but there are not much in the way of seasons. A co-worker of mine was from Poland and complained about the weather every day. Apparently, 75 and sunny was not his idea of Eden.
But. Housing prices are ridiculous. Gas prices are ridiculous. Grocery prices are ridiculous. You get the idea. The public education system (k-12) is a joke. A big, fat, mean, terrible, unfunny joke. The crush of humanity is suffocating in the Bay Area. Most of the time you can't build a fire in your fireplace- if you are lucky enough to have a fireplace- and a fire ring in the back yard- if you are lucky enough to have a back yard- will rust out before it burns out. There is a state income tax that pays the bills in the fat years but leaves the state woefully underfunded when the economy hits a bump. And it really f**ks the state budget if the economy actually tanks. The property tax rate is fixed, and the assessed value for tax purposes is set when a home is purchased- and cannot be increased unless a major renovation is done to the home. As a result, property tax cannot carry the burden when the economy goes south. And you have a bunch of 50-60 year olds living in their 80-90 year old parent's houses because they can pay property tax bases on 1970s values.
If you feel a need to carry a pistol with you everywhere you go, California is not for you. If you need 30 round magazines to kill paper targets at 50 feet then California is not for you. If you want to own a home you would actually live in- on a middle class income- then California is not for you. If you abhor a state income tax then California is not for you. If you want your english speaking kids to learn a foreign language- or your spanish speaking kids to learn english- then California is not for you. Then there is the P word. I won't to into that ban-able subject.
Then again, if you like the great outdoors then California has something to offer. If you are looking for world class higher education then California is worth a look. If you are like cheese (you get better with wine) then you should think about California. If you can hit your target on your first shot and have found that 30 round mags are generally more in the way than they are useful, then you could do worse than California. And, if that 5-6 lbs of pistol/belt/mags/etc that you always wear but have never used is getting a bit heavy to lug around every day, then you probably won't get gang raped if you lived in California either.

As a non-resident of CA, I can't make YOUR state better. I'm not a resident therefore cannot vote. Apparently if so many people hate the laws that actually live there, why don't YOU vote them out.

Some of you, especially California residents, don't seem to have got my point. For me, Illinois will always be home. I attended and graduated from the University of Illinois. I lived there for almost all of my life. And you know what? I'm glad I had the balls to leave. We might have problems here in NM but it's nothing compared to being state #50 out of 50 to pass CCW. I miss the midwest. I'd love to move home some day. Until then, I'm so much happier in a place that is not home, but values my contribution to society and tax dollars, rather than squandering it.

I live in that rat hole. Sure you can pull in a good check. But is it really? Not when you get done paying your share for the FSA. Taxes, insurance, gas prices, home prices, etc... I would rather live on less but keep more of it. I loved the beach and other parts of So Cal. Be in the mountains and play in the snow in the morn and on the beach in the afternoon. Actually filled a pickup truck bed full of snow and drove it to the beach and had a snowball fight on the beach once. The bad part of it was sitting in traffic for an hour to go 20 miles to the beach. But I will stay in the mountains of East Tn. hunt and fish and relax without the rat race stress. The part that sucks is having to fight the influence of that hole on my way of life. At least there are still more of us here that are like minded and willing to fight to keep it that way. I call and write my Rep and my Senators often. As do many others that I know. I know how they stand on the issues and that is why they get my vote. We have the same problems as any other state with the FSA. But we have kept our Government accountable to the tax payer not the FSA. So far. CA (as of 2012) had the largest number and largest percentage of people on welfare, over one third of the people in the U.S. receiving welfare are in CA, yet they only have 12% of the population!! Super-duper, strong economy? Great place to work? What is really bothersome, the rest of the country, through Federal Tax, sends money to CA thus allowing the scum in CA to do nothing but collect our money. Not to mention we [the rest of the country] are racking up ever larger debts to countries like Communist China to keep the money flowing to the largest depository of lazy, multi-generational, leaches on the American economy. CA's economy is so strong, the state has reduced the criminal sentences on huge numbers of criminals-reason: cost to much to keep criminals in prison! I wonder what the cost to the children molested by these "early paroled" scum is, or the people they murder, houses they burglarize ect.? Yes, CA is a real workers paradise! It seems like every year there are wild-fires that destroy X amount of homes etc. in CA, do these geniuses clear brush, cut fire breaks, install water tanks etc.? NO. But they sure suck up on Federal disaster relief money-almost every time! Their "we're super green" bullshit, is just that, if they had to produce all the electric power they consume in CA, starting today,-there would be a lot of lights out by tonight. I've never treated anybody from another state like an enemy because of their unemployment rate. Wow. Where is the intelligent conversation with actual facts that matter? For example, I can name 3 guys who I used to work with that are on unemployment right now in my state. All are from other states who came here because they wanted to work here, Florida, Illinois and Colorado. Those are just 3 off the top of my head. I work with people from EVERY state, no joke, who came here to work and live a better life. Many go home to visit but for some reason they decide to come back and plant their roots. So when you hate on Californians, you are actually just treating Americans from all over our country like s*** because of your NARROW focus on life. I am a native Californian , born and raised, and I have watch hordes of people from all over the planet inject themselves into my city and state over the years. More and more every day it seems. I have only known tolerance as I have had no choice but to share my home with MANY foreign "outsiders". The bottom line is that I'm an American who works hard to create things that are enjoyed by people all over our country and even other countries so where is the LOVE?

What part of Florida? I'm in Gainesville and can tell you the only accents around here are Southern. Everything here and North of us might as well still be the bible belt.

I was trying to research how I can gift an AR to my girlfriend's son that's stationed in San Diego. I still don't have it figured out so I think he may get a gift certificate and he can handle the purchase himself.

I wouldnt sell you canned beans if it meant i could get in trouble for doing it unknowingly especially with the legal maze that is firearms and US state-specific laws.
We're all stuck here for one reason or another. We all want out and dream of living in some other place that has all the weather and geography but without any of the associated people/insanity/burdensome regulation/crime/hate/expense. I for one have little option. There aren't a lot of places with the endless job opportunities in my field that we have here. There's a huge out-migration of business and of people. The youngsters are perfectly able to cause and deal with the BS. Those of us who've been there and done that will just continue to leave and this hole will get more and more out of control.
The problem with California is too much democracy. The state is a poster child for the effects of mob rule. The ballot initiative system we have in play here has crippled our elected representatives and given them responsibility without power and compounded that evil by giving power without responsibility to the people.
There's no saving this place. The best we can do is milk it for some moolah and hit the eject button in time that we don't go down with it.

The hate is ridiculous seeing us local Californians agree with your disdain for the state and its politics and obviously their stupid gun control. That's the part that is SILLY. we are on the same team! We just happen to be on the frontlines and you are not.
Hate the liberals and the BS but don't hate us. Why not support us? What do you and the gun loving and appreciating community gain from alienating us and distancing yourselves from us. Why not try sticking together and helping us? You have nothing to lose by helping us fight the good fight. As you well know, if it happens here it is surely going to try and makes its way to you! So join hands with us and help us fight back the stupidity and liberals. We could benefit from the support and help.
Ripping on us and refusing to do business with us is cowardly and detrimental to you and the community and the country.
I am tired of the "hate" and people telling me how much it sucks here. Guess what i choose to live here because I love it. I like the weather. I like the people. I love the beach, the mountains, the lakes, rivers and desert. Guess what I have lived in the east... People are nicer here. Taxes are higher and the gun laws more restrictive. I will take it happily. I do not like the cold, humidity or the snow. I don't like smokers and obesity. I like having teeth too. but to each his own. We each have our opinions, so what. It does not good for the cause to dismiss us because we happen to live in Kalifornia
