Rifle Scopes Zero Compromise Optic update

Hit the range today. Side by side. Zco 4-20 still my favorite scope I own. (Or have used as of late)

And yes that’s an AI in an MPA ?

What scope mount is that Gilly? Height?

MPA 36mm 1.250” 0 MOA. Could easily go lower as far as clearance on barrel but comfort wise and clearing the NV rail or something like grey ops thumb rail you can see hand over the top so lower is really gonna be counter productive for most situations. I think the 1.18” sphur is as low as I would go personally

Didn’t like pic quality upload so deleted.

FOV difference is very noticeable and the ZCO has more definition on plate. At 785 yards I could make out old bullet impacts with zco, not with kahles. I give advantage on clarity to ZCO. FOV and a flat image are kahles main disadvantage in this comparison. Feels very tight and off a barricade at 520 yards was much harder to find a target than equal power on zco.

I was easily able to call impact and location on the smaller plate in the picture at 785 using 6x47 running at 12-14x sweet spot for me.

@Bravo6niner can add his thoughts on the side by side too I just happened to be taking the pictures.

Yes if you caught them before I took them down.

I took through scope pics down after seeing how poorly they uploaded. I’ll have to try to get better pics. Didn’t feel they did either justice.

No worries i know not to take them at face value. The ZCO looked exceptionally better, though having a k318i myself i know it doesn't look that bad. But it's hard man taking through the scope pictures is difficult. ZCO pic looked pretty dang great. FWIW every kahles i've had i have a hard time taking a pic that is remotely representative of what i'm seeing. Idk why but kahles in particular for me is very hard to capture anything worth showing.

Had i had to do over again i'd definitely have a ZCO 527 dunno that i could give up the k318i for what i got it for it's impeccable for an ultra short even with it's compromises. Really love the MCPT reticles but want to see a SKMR4 and it would be cheaper for me to change them out.

I’ve owned both the k525i and k318i. Also owned the zco 420 and 527.

Not even worth mentioning in the same discussion. I like the kahles optics a lot. But different tier of optics. If you put them side by side, it’s easily noticeable.

Only time kahles comes into the convo is if you get a smoking good deal on it. If it’s within $6-900 of the zcomp, unless you’re really penny pinching, it’s not worth it.

Someone please fucking FAX an order in.

@Dthomas3523 - I'm trying to fax an order in but I have to disconnect the phone line from my rotary phone in order to use my dial up modem.

On a serious note these optics seem very solid from the initial reviews, I'm looking forward to hearing more and seeing more reviews!

I didn’t want to mislead anyone on a single picture so decided to pull them. Zco look good but had a shadow made it look darker than reality. Not everyone would necessarily take it for what it is that hadn’t been behind them.

Dthomas is right there is a class difference but everyone also seems to want to compare the two. I think a 5-20 s&b ultra short would have to be one to put it up against for a fair comparison on glass. Zco most likely still wins in features and reticle though.

I'd like to thank Zero Compromise Optic and Mile High Shooting Accessories for making me feel like a little kid at Christmas again. My ZCO shipped today. Should have it next week. I'm probably replacing my NF BEAST with it. I'll post something up once I've had some time with it.

Ya first target I looked at when comparing them was a 2/3 ipsc at 785 with both scopes set on 18x. First scope I looked through was the kahles k318i. Target was bright and the edges were defined well. Then switching over to the ZCO 4-20 it to was bright like the kahles and well defined but more detail was noticeable like the bolt heads attaching the target were visible and the red spray paint water mark had more detail as in you could see the overspray vs the kahles just showed a red stripe through the middle. Most noticeable was FOV, the ZCO hands down is the winner. Features wise both scopes have good turrets and the power rings aren’t to stiff or to light. The hex key for zeroing the turrets housed in the illumination turret of the kahles is very handy!!! Comparing the two scopes was good in one way because I think when guys go to look for a compact higher magnification scope these two will make the top of the list I’m sure but to me they are in two different categories or “tiers” as far as glass goes. Now I’m not ready to go get rid of my k318i but actually very happy with it. My k318i started out on my AX but as soon as the ZCO 4-20 arrived I pulled it and moved the k318i to a 308 gas gun. I really like the k318i on the gas gun for its compactness and the glass is plenty good enough for the distances the 308 will be used. Also the k318i’s cost plays into things, for the money I feel you get a heck of a good scope!! While on the topic of cost the ZCO 4-20 is truly worth the extra coin over the k318i in the glass department, FOV, and the extra magnification.

So if I was asked which scope I would pick I would ask a couple questions on how will it be used before I could just blurt out an answer. If your going to use your gun in PRS type shooting, extended range hunting, you shoot past a 1000yds more than just occasionally, or money isn’t a player in your decision I would go ZCO. If it’s going on a gas gun, never shoot past 600-800yds, closer range hunting, on a budget but still want quality glass the kahles is an excellent fit.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either scope but feel they both have their niche.

I know DT likes his ZCO and don't doubt him. I need to see one of these or don't lol it'll have me spending more money I do find it interesting because i know some prefer the k318i to the ultra short. None the less i need to find someone in MS that has ZCO. Maybe someone will have one at the match next weekend. Never the less definitely seems ZCO is the only one nipping at TTs heels.

To be clear, the kahles are very nice. The zcomp is just another tier level for many reasons. Glass, parallax, ergonomics, etc.

While it’s reasonable people want to compare ultra shorts across the board, just understand they are not all created equal.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the price difference is too close to consider the kahles.

Anyone compared the ZCO ZC420 to the Schmidt Ultra Short 3-20? I see from above the ZCO seems to best the Kahles K318i in FOV and depth and resolution, and I see the Schmidt as the other "top" competitor in this market.

Not exactly sure. I need a better scale. My cheapo bathroom scale has it at 15# with can and bipod. I’m guessing it’s more like 11.5 to 12.

I was going to say no way it's 15lbs that's nearing my match rifle with heavier components. I was curious because i've got an Impact with a 20" medium palma that's going in a PRS2 with an AMG on top and NF ultralite rings. EH1A with the mini-chassis is pretty much equal to the PRS2 in weight. I also have a 24" proof sendero lite in 7mm that's going to be a 7 SS. I've been thinking of trading up to a sendero. With the medium palma i'm sort of expecting right at 10-11lbs and to retain that with the 24" carbon.

I've been waiting for my dealer's shipment to arrive since late February. Getting tired of waiting....tic toc.
I have a rifle with no optic and an impending match! Are these just that heavily backordered? Dealer put in an order for them at or just after SHOT. ??‍♂️

I can't speak to your specific situation, but I pre-ordered my ZC420 with MPCT1 February 5th from Mile High. I just got it Monday. Hopefully yours is soon too.

The process is slow as the QC is Theta like with owner inspecting all optics before they leave.

Also, it’s not a large company capable of mass production.
