SOLD SIG Cross Precision Stock w/ 1913 folding adapter

I bought this for a project that has changed directions. This is a factory cross stock that I added the SIG 1913 folding adapter so it can be used with any chassis or upper receiver that has a Picatinny rail receiver end piece or with AR buffer adapter with something like the KNS rail.

this is like new, mounted and 40 rounds on it.

$325 shipped w/ 1913 folder
$225 Shipped with factory cross folder adapter

only considering trades that are wildly in my favor.

7.62 RC2 mini vs RC2 vs 300SPS

I think I’m going to buy another can this week and I have been eyeing a the 7.62 RC2 mini. I have access to one, and will likely try it this week on my URG-I but after shooting a 300SPS I’m wondering if the 300SPS or the Standard RC2 might be a better choices. For the cost of a little length I’d have some additional flexibility.

I know these aren’t apples to apples, but if you have run any of these against the others what’s your general shooter impression of the unit and why you’d chose it? Mainly on a 5.56 but will run on everything up to 300WM.

when is it officially declared an invasion?

Was just watching some Fox news clips of coyotes (cartel fucks) bringing across illegals over the RG and then firing rounds (some tracers?) into the USA over our TX NG positions and taunting them.
What is it going to take to make this shit stop?
Where is Winfield Scott when we need him? I'm sick of what's happening to my Texas.

Truing AB with rimfire

I'm having a hard time truing up my AB software on the Kestrel to my DOPE. I'm zeroed at 50 yards with a 22" barrel and on mils.

I can't get the borrowed Labradar to pick up the rifle so I go with the manufacturers website for data on speed. I'm using Center X data for SK STD+, using Center X's G1 at 0.172. I calibrated the MV at the furthest consistent DOPE: 294 yards.

My confirmed DOPE vs Kestrel AB:

100 = 1.8 vs 1.6 (AB)
203 = 7 vs 6.6 (AB)
294 = 11.9 vs 11.9 (AB) [MV calibrated]
489 = 28 vs 25.6 (AB)

I've tried moving MV and BC around to get data to line up but it was always a compromise somewhere. Some are .5+ of deviation between data. I also tried AB's SK STD+ profile and did the same as above with a large disparity of data too.

If I stick with the calibrated MV at 294 and adjusted the BC for the 489 yard [BC is now at 0.138], the 294 yard AB calculated data is 12.7 mil.

What's the best course of action to get a fairly flat consistent calculated data that will do well enough in a match?

PRS Build

Hey guys, here is what I’ve decided on for my PRS Build;
SPECS;
Caliber: 6.5 CM
Action: BAT TR Action
Trigger: Bix n Andy TacSport Pro
Barrel: Benchmark Custom MTU tapppered to 1” at muzzle, 1.75 twist, finished at 27”
Stock: MDT ACC Chassis OD Green
Muzzle Brake: APW 5 Port Raptor
Scope: Nightforce B.E.A.S.T 5x25x56
Scope Rings: MDT One Piece Scope Mount

Reloading Components I currelty have.
Lapua Brass
Vihtavuori N555
Bullets: Lapua 139grn Scenars, Berger 140grn, 144grn and 156grn
Primers: Federal Match Grade

I was originally going to use the 6.5 PRC Caliber for this build, however, talking to guys that are shooting PRS, and reading the forums, it seems like the 6mm virants or the 6.5 CM are the trends. I have been collecting reloading components for the 6.5 CM, so it seemed to be a no brainer.

I’m hoping the rifle will be completed by April 2022, so I can compete in my first PRS Competition.

Let me know what you think of the build.

Photos Let’s see those rattle can guns!

To each their own. I know it’s nowhere close to being worthy of work like Shortbus does, but it’s still fun. Just finished up two of them myself so I figured I could use a little inspiration from others. So let’s see those rattle can paint jobs on your blasters! If you have a technique that worked well, share it with others!

Top to bottom:
- textured multi-color free hand. Dark and lighter shade on the Scar 20. The lighter tan/grey color blends in really well to the clay dirt in the fields behind my house.
- tiger stripe base, tool drawer liner used for the “snakeskin” look, and then textured multicolor over it on the AR15. Just did this for fun. Blends in pretty well with fall foliage.
- wide tiger stripe base with two colors and then sponged over it on the AR10. By far the best camo I did to actually blend in with something. It practically disappeared into the bark!
- custom colors with a digicam stencil on the AR15. Just a fun one to try with stencils since most of what I’ve done is free hand.

Manners Sales/Customer Service - (Tom turned it around!)

Much as I like both of my Manners stocks, I think I might be done with them in terms of buying anything new. The latest incident... I bought a PRS-TCS last year, but didn't get it with the Sikes Clutch rail installed at the time. A couple months ago, I decided to move forward with it, and tried to place an order for the kit (knob and the rail - not an item sold in their online store - you have to contact them directly for the kit). They didn't have black knobs in stock, only orange, and couldn't take a back order. I was told to follow up when the online store showed black knobs in stock.

Six weeks later, black knobs back in stock. I follow up on my email to the Sales department, and I'm told "great, call us to place an order". Got no response to my voice mail, or two followup emails. Finally called again and got someone on the phone, and placed the order.

Clutch kit arrives. 4 of the 11 holes on the rail are undersize - the Clutch knob won't fit in them. The knob fits perfectly in all the GrovTec and MagPul QDs I have on my rifles, so it would seem the rail is at fault. Call Manners and explain the situation. Am told by the rep that he'll send a note somewhere, and his hope is that I'll receive a rail and a return label for the first rail.

I receive a package from Manners today. It does indeed include a return label, but has a knob... not the rail. And to make matters worse, this knob's pin is larger in size. It doesn't fit in any holes in the rail, and is very tight in all my other QDs.

This isn't the first interaction like this that I've had. I sent my T4A to them for installation of an Ingenuity rail. I was told it would take about a month. 6 weeks after the stock arrived, having received no word from them, I called, and found out that the work had been finished for a month or so, and the stock was waiting on someone to call me to find out if I wanted the newly inlaid carbon fiber in the barrel channel to be painted the color of the stock or not.

My PRS-TCS order was mostly smooth, but I was shipped the wrong rail weights on the first go-around.

So, now on Monday I get to see if Manners can get a Clutch kit right on the third attempt (n)

Gunsmithing Schooling/training

What's up everyone? Got a question about gunsmith schooling/training. I'm coming up to retirement in a couple years from the military and I've had interest in building rifles for a while now. I've been doing some research on how to start getting into the skill and business, but most of the information seems to be more of an advertisement for schools looking to make a dime off your interest. I'm on my way back home from deployment now and plan on talking to the smith who has done some work for me in the past, but I'd like to see how some of you guys got started out. Mind you, when it comes to metal work, I'd say I have less than a basic knowledge, so I'm legit starting from the bottom. What I'm craving is what I like about reloading and shooting; the precision and fine details of the work and the end result/satisfaction of the work. Thanks!
