I’m thinking about another build and can’t decide between 6.5 cm or 6.5 prc. I recently just had a 300 prc built and have a dd5 in 6.5 cm but want another bolt gun. It will primarily be for hunting. I I will probably have it built similar to my 300. Origin action proof carbon barrel ag alpine stock. I don’t know much about prc but do like my creed. Which would you guys recommend?

Hello Hide, I don’t post online much but I’m stumped. Been shooting and reloading for my 6.5 Grendel AR for about 6 years. Im a machinist and have been hobby gunsmithing for 30 years but far from an expert. Recently replaced the Alexander Arms 18” barrel with a Lilja 16”. Started out with some OK groups 1 to 1.5 MOA on average. Seemed to like the Hornady SST and Shooters World Match Rifle powder so bought a bunch and started to refine a load. Every time I went to the range, the performance got worse. Thought it might be the scope so changed from the Athlon Helos 2-12 I was using to an NF ATACR 4-16 in quality mounts. No dice. Stopped using a suppressor to remove variables but no help. Performance went from bad to worse. I clean regularly with boretech and nylon brush followed by patches. Baby the crown and always use rod guide. I’ve done what I know of to give it best chance for accuracy. Barrel is bedded in loctite 609, receiver is lapped, nut is torqued to 50 ft lbs. Gas tube is tweaked to not touch receiver, AGB tuned to just lock open on last round. Everything to do with optics is torqued to spec and loctited. Everything on the gun is premium but 300 rounds in an it’s shooting 4MOA with the same loads the were 1 MOA at first. Nearly all groups have a mostly vertical dispersion with an angle high left and low right. Pretty sure it’s not me, I can shoot great groups with my other guns. Just bought a bore scope and it looks pretty good to me with the exception of the gas port which clearly has some buildup on it. Don’t know what normal looks like so hope someone can say if that looks problematic. Also, when I received the barrel the extension looked like it was produced in 1980’s china. I polished it up as best I could. I’ll add a pic.

What am I missing? Appreciate any suggestions. I’m loathe to ditch a new $450 barrel but the gun is worthless as is.

New to ELR so I took my 6.5CM out to 1000 today and even tho it was windy I was able to get on target consistently once I figured out the wind hold. There is something about hearing steel at that distance. Now it’s on to taking it out farther.

Why are top shooters all switching back from 6GT to 6Dasher?
Is it because 6Dasher is easier to tune and has lower velocity (to see the trace)?

Time to draw up plans for a winter project.
A few years ago, I wanted to really get into the 6 ARC in a bolt gun but I wasn't fond of the temp sensitive powders (CFE223 and Leverevolution) folks were using to get to 2900+ fps. My goal is to reach 2800+ fps with a 26" barrel, 1:7.5 twist, bolt action using Hornady 105 gr BTHP, Alpha OCD brass, CCI SR magnum primers, and Winchester Staball Match powder.

With the release of Winchester Staball Match in Jan 2023, the new powder got my gears turning again. Staball seems to slot between Varget and CFE223 in the burn rate chart and temp stability tests show reasonable stability for the Staball XX line of ball powers.

Anyone with experience on with similar combination with getting their ARC bolt guns with 105 gr bullets to 2800+ fps?
Any available info for max pressure and expected velocities on QuickLoad?

Like new Maven B.5 15x56mm comes with all the original extras, paperwork and box. Abbe Koenig prisms and fluorite glass. Purchased from Maven 09/30/24. Stupid good glass for the $$$$.

I have a Forster FL sizing die (no bushing) and a Neck size die with bushing.

The FL die is compressing the neck way too much, so I was thinking to open up the neck of the FL die so it doesn't size the neck and then use the neck die with the bushing to size the neck.
Would I need a carbide bit to do so? Not sure what the Forster is made of, hardened steel? Of course, I can use the mandrel after but it'll just over work the brass.

Resizing 223 starline fired brass. Using a rcbs rock chunker with a forster bushing FL sizing die. I have romoved the dies cleaned and installed per instructions. When i resize the case it doesnt fit flush in my hornady case gauge. If I take the brass and rotate it in the pres 4 times it sits flush. What could be the cause of the issue. If i need to post mor information I will as soon as I can. Thanks again

I’m curious if anyone might be able to tell me what my Leu Mk4 3.5-10 with TMR reticle and M5 turrets is worth. Non ill ret. It’s in great shape and I can’t find any flaws.

Since they’re don’t offer these anymore and it’s a one-run optic, it’s a good (and rare) combination. I love it but I need to go another route.

What might this actually be worth? From what I can see it could vary greatly and thought I’d come ask people who would know best.
