Where it seemed like the jumping off point for one's preferences in 5.56 is, it SEEMS like the starting point for the 6ARC is the next step up in gas length AND down one weight in the A5 system.

For example: where I would traditionally run an unsuppressed 18" rifle with an A5h2 in 5.56.... for a 6ARC 18" on a rifle +1 with an A5h1 (or 0) seems a parallel operational envelope.

Am I about in the ballpark?

.223 Tikka T3x in MPA BA Comp chassis, it was used twice, less than 50 rounds through it. Bolt has been fluted and muzzle threaded by LRI. Comes with Area 419 muzzle adapter (1/2-28) and a Magpul 10 round AICS magazine. Trigger pull has been lightened to about 1lb using Mountain Tactical spring. Chassis has minor scratches on Arca rail from the bipod clamp.

I have been shooting PRS for a number of years now, I have always struggled with target acquisition. I am color blind so when the target gets beat up it’s hard for me to find it. Looking at tinted glasses to maybe make the targets pop more. Anyone else have similar issues.

I have tried better optics and that didn’t change anything Nightforce ATACR but currently running a Burris XTR Pro.

Over time i have had more than my fair share of expensive Alpha/Top Tier Glass fail ...

Just recently i had 2 current Top Tier optics on 2 of my Desert Tech,s go down. While still waiting for this to be resolved i decided to go the complete other end of the scale...yep....."Cheap" China scope !!!

My dealer here in Aus sent me 2 of the ARKEN EP5 7-35 and said....try to break them!! .................but also give an honest opinion on how they stack up. My dealer knows the Glass i own, and have owned and also the regularity i shoot.

Not really having any high hopes i was pleasantly surprised when the Arken,s showed up..

#1 heavy , externally .....very well built.
#2 expecting the worst..... the glass is quite good ...especially considering the price tag !!
#3 Turrets....very positive .
#4 Tracks great!!

We mounted the 2 on DT 338Lap. 300 Win and the 50BMG.

Today myself and friend fired circa ......"100" 300wm....... "150" 338Lap and "90" rounds of 50BMG ... Both the Arkens went through that session without any glitches what so ever!!!

Focus remained constant , while not Alpha glass they are more than capable of providing a very rewarding experience . Distances we shot at were 1200yds and 1500yds and 1700yds.

The 2 plates "Knocked " over in front of the log are 1200yds...the 50 smacks them down with authority !! The couple of misses onto the log actually penetrated out the rear side....very impressive !!

Are the Arkens the best glass......hell no... BUT !!! They are VERY respectful and i have no problem with using them . They held up to the 50 better than a couple of "ALPHA" scopes ( that shall remain nameless) that shit themselves after a dozen or so shots!!

Truthfully....the hardest thing to overcome is the mind set that these are "Cheap" and "Chinese" ....functionality wise they a very good!!

These will be subjected to a few more sessions over the next weeks...lets see if they hold up...

So I recently had a 6.5 GT take a 50 fps nose dive in the middle of a hunter match with 1600 rounds through it, measured .075 erosion to the lands.
I adjusted seating depth, increased the charge .5 grains and put a few hundred rounds through it before things really started going to shit. I was running 34 grains N150 with 142 smks, shocked I didn't see at least 3000 rounds. It was a Benchmark Sendero.

I'm running a Criterion 223 wylde for PRS, it's been a picky bastard from the beginning but shoots 75 vlds real good toucking the lands, loaded with 24.5 grains N150.
I'm getting ready for the finale Aug 23rd and my accuracy is starting to drop! I'm at 2200 rounds and the lands have eroded to the point that I can't seat into them with the bullet still in the short 223 neck..
WTF is going on? Thought I'd for sure get 4000 rounds from a 223..

Is N150 super hard on barrels?

Up for sale is a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x24 contract scope with the Recon Army-Spec markings. This is not one of the commercially released optics from 2015, but rather one of the real MK12 Contract optics. These featured mil-dot reticles with MOA turrets. 1 MOA elevation and 0.5 MOA windage adjustments.

This scope is in great condition with the original tag on it still. Glass is clean, as is the body.

It’s been a while since I’ve looked at thermals and within past year or so there are literally a shit ton of options that I’ve never seen or really heard of. I’ve always wanted a nox18 and the XRF.. are these still considered high end? Probably a dumb question as they obviously haven’t just turned to shit all of a sudden, but it seems there is way more talk about all these new budget thermal brands.

Maybe a better question would be are they still worth the $$ with all the options available?
