Tried out a new loading of 308 today... Went to the indoor 100 yard tube range, too late to make the sand pit.

The barrel is a varmint contour. Which was a mistake I see now...I blame myself! At the time I thought this could be a hunting/match rifle so I was trying to save weight. I've realized that is a ridiculous concept. I've since built a kick ass hunting rifle so now I just want this as heavy as practical! Luckily, I chose a barrel burner cartridge so I'll be able to correct my mistake pretty soon!

• Barrel from a wall gun that was used by Alessandro Farnese's (Pope Paul III) castle guards and has Farnese family crest stamped on it. The Farnese family crest markings have the crossed keys of St. Peter and a papal hat. These papal symbols were added to the Farnese family crest after Alessandro became Pope Paul III in 1534. The primitive peep sights also help date the barrel, these type of sights were used in the early 1500's. The rear sight also has a slot in it for changing the aperture size!
• Military matchlock musket made by Peter Peck. Too much info to type, read this thread if you're interested, this is my rifle - http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?p=167030
• Left to right: 2 large handgonne barrels from the mid 1400's and 2 small handgonne barrels from the 1360/70's. The 2 small handgonne barrels were used in the Battle of Aljubarrota on August 14, 1385. • A small handgonne barrel from about 1400 in tiller (early wood stock). The barrel is original and is over 600 years old, the tiller is a modern reproduction to make a complete handgonne. These handgonnes had a max effective range of about 25 yards, were quick to reload. Just dump primitive gunpowder in the barrel until it's about 3/4 full and then drop a marble ball in there. Coincidentally, quite a few of these early handgonnes also ended up becoming early hand grenades!
Here's the handgonne from 1400 with some modern upgrayedds, lol:

Just an F class build, but i've always wanted to have something worth posting. Took me about 4 years from the first part ordered to the first shot (i identify as "a poor" according to some here

Looks great... another 200 yards and those 308's would be hitting that wall, dropping right to the ground!
Though that velocity at 600 looks a bit faster then 308 win...

It's a .308. FT/R build. Shooting Berger 200.20x, Lapua Palma brass, 43.5gr Varget, CCI BR-4
during load development i had one that was a 2 SD with 10 ES, but at 100 yards it looked like a snowman with 5 shot groups.
Haven't stretched it past 600 yet, but I'm hoping to get out to Lodi this next year to see how i do at 1000.

That was my last "official" match of the year. Had one extra round... and yeah, that first one... I own it. It was me. I was so confident that I didn't need to look at that flag or pay any mind to that breeze sneaking up my calf...

First time shooting past 300 yards. Made impacts from 430 yards to 830 yards all by myself which I was pretty happy with; nothing like a wasted 4 hour trip!
