Now that's quite an optic!
How do you like it?
What reticle do you have?
Is the box mounted on the side of the scope an electronic level?
Absolutely love it... its a 6-36 on steroids...slightly sharper than the 6-36 with more contrast
40-50x is crazy sharp !! I love using high power at ELR...so this scope really suits my taste.
M1FL reticle..
Box is a...........Rianov CSI Digital Cant and Slope (Cosine) Indicator

@wooferocau I just tested that T6 brake on my .408 barrel. It works great but it moved my POI 4” down at 100 meters. Sound normal?
I cant remember if any POI changes were apparent sorry ... I wouldn't worry about it. Its a huge difference in mass hanging off the end of the barrel , so i theory it would have an effect on POI..

I have not. I've heard of optics failing on big bore rifles (think 50 BMG) that were fine when being used on a standard type rifle before.

I've run the following scopes without issue on DT's and other platforms

NF ATACR 5-25
NF ATACR 7-35
NF ATACR 4-16
NF NX8 4-32
NF NX8 2.5-20
NF NXS 3.5-15
NF NXS 5.5-22
S&B 3-20
S&B 5-25
Tangent Theta 525
Kahles K318i
Kahles K625
Kahles K525
ZCO 4-20
ZCO 5-27

Great...Thanks
Can you PLEASE list the optics you have used..
No optic failures on mine.
I started with a first edition Vortex Viper
PST 6-24'x50, no problems, just not enough scope in many ways. Then I did the buy once cry once, and ordered an S&B 5-45x56, this is my favorite optic for my shooting! As I thought about what optic I would put on an HTI if I were to get one, it would probably share the same scope. However, your S&B 10-60x56 would be what I would buy for it eventually.

Quality optics have evolved a great deal in the last twenty five years and most are able to handle recoil. Back when 50 BMG rifles were few and far between, optics had trouble with their heavy recoil impulse and then effective muzzle brakes that subjected them to a quick reverse impulse. I regularly saw reticles and lenses come loose, and inadequate mounts break at 50 cal matches. Surprisingly, quality air rifle scopes would handle these conditions better than the standard scopes of the day because they were setup to see similar impulse reversals.

Righto...the reason for my cryptic question...

Over the past couple of years i have had a LARGE number of optics fail when used on the Desert Tech platform .
In all the Years ( 40+) of shooting "conventional" rifles i have had one sole failure.

I was just wondering "IF" the recoil pulse was in some ways different to a conventional rifle that possibly puts more stress somehow on the optic ???

All the failures have been while using...
SRS with 338 Lap Conv
HTI with 50 Bmg Conv.

Scopes i have had fail.
2x ZCO 5-27
1x ZCO 8-40

1x March 5-50
2 x March Genesis 4-40
1 x March Genesis 6-60

1 X Leopold 3-18

2 x S&B 6-36
2 x S&B 10-60

1 x Kahles 6-24

Scopes that i have NEVER had an issue with when used with the same SRS/HTI conversions...

2 x Nightforce NSX 5.5 - 25
4 x Nightforce ATACR 7-35
3 x S&B 5-25
2 x S&B 3-27
1 x S&B 5-20 Ultrashort.
1 x Leica PRS 5-30
2 x Tangent Theta 5-25

So.......... Is it just a case of pure dumb luck on my behalf ...or maybe not ??????

Any thoughts.....
That's interesting.
In what ways did they fail?

The eye piece focus for most instead of the parallax adjustment and the ZCO being the only one with the parallax issue?
You've definitely had some bad luck with scopes.
Yeah.. i have finally realised i have had a complete gut full in regards to optics..!!!

Will most likely from this point just mount the old 7-35 ATACR,s on the Desert Techs...not as flash optically, but i trust them impeccably!!

Wow that's crazy!
I talked to Vortex and Leupold about ring torque specs and how close I could put a ring to the turret housing. They both said an 1/8" or so so I wouldn't mess up my parallax adjustment.
My razor slipped in the rings even though I had it torqued to specs, this is what had me call both companies for a little more detail on how much I could actually torque them.
I now use lapped rings and resin on everything but Sphur. The latter I just use resin.

A 20 lb 50 BMG has a bit of recoil. Still, it shouldn’t be killing optics like you have experienced.

Do you use one certain specific mount?

Did the optic manufacturers ever suggest certain mounts to use or avoid?

We’ve sold lots of hti rifles and I’ve only ever had one customer let me know he had an issue with his optic.
