Maggie’s Funny & awesome pics, vids and memes thread (work safe, no nudity)

Making friends with the foxes.

I’ve been feeding a pair of foxes for a couple of weeks. Leftover chicken, pork chops, that sort of thing. Yesterday the smaller of the two showed up early so I figured I’d see if I could get her to eat from my hand.

I can’t post a vid from my iPad but here’s some screen shots in order.

a great post. likely an example of how we got together with wolves and other wild canines to develop our millenia long relationship and created dogs.

I'm in the opposition camp. NOT COOL!!!! Training a wild animal to overcome their fear of humans is unfair to both the animal and people. You should be reported. What's next, e.g., alligators, bears, mountain lions, etc.?

Nothing like confessing to a crime on the internet And posting photographic evidence….

Misdemeanor or felony?

I’m good with a misdemeanor every now and then.

Winco wheat bread. They love it.

Okay, Karen. I’ll bet you sit down to pee.

You're either stupid or ignorant, especially with your petulant and childish response. Try reading something other than labels and quit watching men urinate.

Why limit me to either/or?

And did you want to speak to my manager?

Very cool!

There is a study going on right now in Northern VA and other places... of the fox population and their interaction with humans. Which is unlocking some cool clues to how canines were domesticated tens of thousands of years ago. The move of foxes into suburbia... and the greater rural densities are causing more interactions. And the foxes and humans are co-existing really well.

There is some 'experimental archaeology' going on. And it is good.

I have a population here and while not luring them in yet... am at peace with them. And they don't seem to be afraid of me. Feels very 20,000 BC in some ways.

Great post! Let me know when the fox accepts "Chinny rubs" like my best cat Pouncey. A Serval descendant... Works with cats too.

Cheers!

Sirhr

EDIT/PS. I didn't see the responses whining about giving the foxes muffins or whatever. Yes, probably has some Fish Cops/Crick-Dicks/Deer Detectives pissing their panties.

The reality is that the interaction is going to happen. And right now, it is answering one of the major questions in human evolution which relates to the domestion of animals, most especially canines. So... Yeah. Whatever. Call on Officer Obie the game warden and his decoy deer "Stuffy." And piss up a rope. This stuff is happening. So let's learn from it.

The state flower of Oregon is poison oak. I’m not as sensitive to it as I used to be but I still get it pretty bad. Head scratches or tummy rubs are highly unlikely. A decent 3x3 buck let me scratch his head a few years ago (I learned velvet is not at all velvety) and I forgot to Level-4 radiation decontamination my hands afterward. Yep, a pretty healthy dose. Prednisone and mometasone cream. It was worth it, though.

They get the kamikaze birds that suicide into the windows, too.

I borrowed a couple of your pictures and gave as much credit to you as possible without divulging your identity. They are special.

Not more complicated. And the pins are replaceable when they wear down. 6.5? Nah, I still shoot .308AARP.

Totally get it. I used to have a golf habit. Still have lifelong fishing, hunting and shooting habits.

Mostly I was just trying to get a rise out of the cyclist crowd.

Nice one with the 308 AARP, never noticed that before. When you catch up there's a 308 medicare web site.

So if 308 is the Medicare cartridge, which round is the welfare cartridge ?
