    Gunsmithing Fluting........

Re: Fluting........ I'm not sure, but I think that the stock 5R barrel may not be cut rifled -- which iirc means fluting now (after contouring) could be bad (I'm not sure if there's extra stress-relieving stuff they can do at this point or not).. I'm sure somebody else will jump in and clarify.

New Triad Product: Rifle Ammo Pouch (RAP)Updated

Re: New Triad Product: Rifle Ammo Pouch (RAP) Random suggestion: How about a "tear away" version with velcro on the back of the pouch itself, and then a panel with the molle backing with the other side of the velcro --- this would allow the pouch to be carried on a belt or pack or whatever...

which of these two Savage MKII's

Re: which of these to Savage MKII's FYI, the side rails on the TRR-SR are just a big funky one-piece scope base -- you can replace it with a $40 EGW 20 MOA base or something and end up with a very nice (and normal looking) trainer. On a completely unrelated note, anybody want to buy a...

Gunsmithing Q re: Barreling Savage "Rem style" (sans nut)

Quick question for folks who have re-barreled their Savage without the nut... does it require a 'special' barrel blank, or can you just order a standard barrel blank like you would for a Remington from one of the usual suspects in the contour you want? (assume for the sake of the question that...

Anyone making 26" fluted barrels for Remington 700

Re: Anyone making 26" fluted barrels for Remington 700 Any custom tube chambered by somebody competent will almost certainly be more "accurate" than a factory tube. What you likely really want is to stay above transonic velocities out to 1000. Play with ballistic programs and find out how...

Mk II stock to short ?

Re: Mk II stock to short ? My Savage TR stock is almost exactly the same as my McM A3 in terms of length of pull, position of the grip with relation to the trigger, etc. The forend is several inches shorter, but behind the rifle it feels very similar.
