    savage mk ii fv-sr ????'s

Mine shoots well enough with good ammo, cheap ammo isn't worth shooting for accuracy or varmints. It's a good 22 to tinker with, tune & work to get better groups. Figure it might take a brick or two to settle down and start grouping well. Try everything you can find for loads, because 22's are...

Rifle Scopes Lapping Cheaper Scope Rings

Dude, lighten up! Anyone can whittle up a perfect 30mm dowel in a few minutes. What do you use for stock inletting other than lamp black?

Rifle Scopes Lapping Cheaper Scope Rings

Personally, I would just make sure the rings are properly aligned prior to dropping in the scope. For a 1" scope, buy a 1" wood dowel & spray it with white paint or clear lacquer. Paint the inner surface of the lower ring bases with lipstick and gently drop in the dowel. Press on the dowel &...

A bit disappointed with the "standard" AR accuracy with "standard" ammo...

I had my first AR shooting some good groups, followed up with some lousy groups. Once in a while it would shoot OK, but I eventually sold it and found one from a local manufacturing company which was able to do better. Ended up with a "demo" weapon which was used & shoots very well, but it's...

Rifle Scopes Newbie Scope Mount Question

Best fit for your scope is to put the rifle at your shoulder and get comfortable with your eyes closed. Once you have a good cheek weld and everything feels good, open your eyes & the scope height should match your eye and center properly. If the rings are too tall or too short, you won't be...

Rifle Scopes Scopes don't always have to be as low as possible

I sent for rings to put a 50mm objective scope as low as possible on my AR. Great! I couldn't shoot with it because I had to mash my face down too far on the stock, exit pupil was all wonky to see through, no go at the range. There's a mount on the way now for the 30mm tube which is just a...

Anybody know where I can get a holster for this pistol/scope/suppressor combo?

Best bet is to have one made, custom job in kydex or leather would be best to get a good fit & carry you want. Best of luck on that one.

Rifle Scopes good idea to place scope as close as possible to barrel?

You should throw the rifle up to your shoulder, get a cheek-weld with a closed eye, then open your eye and have the scope centered. Whatever ring, stock, scope (face) combination works this way for you is correct. Too hard to just say to "use this ring for this scope" as there are more variables...

Maggie’s People who carry guns concealed are "Douchebags?"

Looks like an open invitation for the bad guys to do a little bit of "grab the cash" from this store owner. Can't wait to see the follow-up story when he's robbed and no one is there to help.

Canada is not free, our SIG rifles were nationally banned by the police today.

Allusion: an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly. White flag = French flag... And no, I didn't misspell illusion.

    Help me with MOA

Any mil-dot scope won't be "calibrated" to your specific round, unless you are just plain lucky. That's why the Nikon P-22 isn't correctly calibrated to your specific brand of 22 ammo. The only way you can be sure is to test your load against a known distance and compare the drop on your scope...

    Help me with MOA

Instead of changing the scope "zero" just figure out your bullet drop and use the BDC circles. Here's what you need! Just look up your scope & plug in the load you shoot. My Nikon P-22 uses this system, so a 50 yard "zero" means the bottom circle works at 100 yards (actually not exact, but close...

    Is this to fast

Check the case head. 1/1000" expansion at the head and you're toast in a load, too hot. If the brass is flowing, don't bother going! Not sure on all of this semi-auto stuff, but on a bolt gun, that's too much pressure if the brass is expanding.

    New FVSR accuracy issue?

Really nicely done! Looks like you're getting it dialed in now. Keep looking at different types of ammo, as you never can tell what it might like. Sort of fun working the bugs out, isn't it?

    Sionics Weapons Systems

Fenix Mike, the ASA rifle was built by them in 2009, I checked the serial number with them when I called. As far as "bashing" them, I said nothing about the company, only the weapon, its fit, finish & accuracy. I know there were a lot of issues with their company, until the previous owner passed...

    Sionics Weapons Systems

Saw this thread from a few years ago & I'd like to add my 2 cents worth, since there's been no activity of late. I recently sold my AR and was looking for a better weapon. The old one was a run of the mill M4 clone (ASA Scottsdale) with sloppy fit, lousy accuracy & misaligned parts, a genuine...

    Small scope for Savage FV-SR

I used a Nikon P22 on mine for regular stuff, plinking & everyday. If you're just going for a general use scope, the 2-7 is a good choice. I liked the cost, brightness, sharp image & great contrast this scope has. It does have target turrets, which seem to work well enough and function properly...

dillema on what to do with rimfire rifles...

Second the idea of an FV-SR as already mentioned. If you're shooting 3/8" with CCI-SV, don't change anything about the barrel, leave it alone! I did a similar thing with my FV-SR & it shoots 3/8" once in a while, but not all the time. Here's what it looks like now after a "few" mods. I used a...

Show me the pictures of your 22lr sound suppressor on your rifle

Will be happy to post one, some time next year if I'm lucky! I ended up buying a Sparrow (November of last year, 2013) because of sound reduction, ease of cleaning & generally positive feedback about the build quality and ease of maintenance. Please use your imagination to add it to my rifle...

rimfire in the cold, what do you know about it?

Damn, makes me shiver just to see this stuff. I was at the range this morning at about 8:00, and it was a chilly 50 this morning for the low. I don't think I could stand it that cold, not after all these years in the desert! Nice shootin'.
