.224 Valkyrie! It’s a sweet shooter. That round sounds so good through my 30cal can!

Got bit by the shorty bug also.

Just picked up a WTO switch lug build so had my local smith shop one of the Proof 6.5CM barrels to 16.5. Will update with pics once it’s all back together.

Good looking rig. Where did you get the stock? I've been looking for one just like it to go on a 26" 308 I have.

Thanks! I found the stock on eBay. Not sure on the brand, but it feels like actual walnut. It shoots pretty good for a factory Remington rifle, especially considering it was my first bedding job. I’m totally happy with how it turned out. Handy, handsome, accurate, and pretty darn quiet. It’s a peach to shoot off a game changer.

Has anyone chopped a 3006 down to 18" ?
It's not exactly my first choice but I have a Tikka 6mm creed match rifle with a prefit setup.
I pulled the factory 3006 barrel and now I'm thinking I could cut it down and run a TB ultra 7 for a lightweight out to 700 yard deer and elk rifle.

It'd take me 10 minutes to switch back and forth between barrels
I hunt a mix of heavy timber where a fast shot without ear pro is pretty common, but long shots across clear cuts are also very likely.

My first thought was to remove my 25" 6.5 SAUM barrel (it's fluted so cant chop it) and replace it with a 20", If I could run a 147 or a 156 at 2900 I think it'd be the way to go.. The only problem is it's a ridiculously awesome ultralight LR elk rifle as it is, I'd hate to ruin a good thing
