Anyone have experience with 30 Nosler reamers for 210-215 class Berger VLD/VLD Hunting or similar bullets. My searches suggest SAAMI spec is 0.148” freebore and some report 0.200-0.220” freebore is needed for the heavier, longer, higher BC projectiles.

Looking for someone who has chamber and tested a 30 Nosler reamer(s) SAAMI spec and otherwise.

Any constructive feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks. I read 0.148” in the same discussion that mentioned 0.200-0.220 for 215 Berger VLD. I found the SAAMI diagram and confirmed 0.110” as mentioned above.

Still interested to know about the freebore required/recommended for the heavier, higher BC bullets. Any reports of actual reamers used and results would be great.

I've never chambered for the Nosler but have a lot of experience with the 300 PRC and other large 30's. I would duplicate the PRC's throat design. Maybe even a bit shorter like the .200"-.225" you mentioned. Remember those measurements are from the end of the neck angle in the chamber and don't represent actual measurements of the loaded ammo. Depending on cartridge case length you could get up to about .050" more in effective freebore length.

Thank you. Any inforation is helpful at this point. I have not found too much precedence. I am askinga few smiths I have worked with before, but the 30 Nosler is not too popular in comparison to other chamberings I guess.
