Should AI come out with 223 or magnum bolts it’s a guarantee now they won’t be compatible with the actions they’ll no longer be making
I wonder if MH/EO will sell that dark earth folding hinge as an accessory, so that I can stick it on my gen 3.
I think you'll be better off finding a black one and painting, VS waiting a year for one from AI!
This right here. They aren’t hard to take apart and put back together. Just take pics along the way. AI would probably scold you for doing it but not hard. I had my AXSR stock cerakoted to match my ATX.
Shit I’ll keep my old crusty ass ATX. Like a cast iron skillet, nothing makes up for time and use. Might increase the value on these sumbitches!

The US version is not like any of the UK models shown above. Those were released on the AIUK site. It is closest to the comp/pro model. The US model is to be 6crd or 6.5 crd only (26 and 24" respectively, threaded and capped), and at the $6500ish price will INCLUDE the top bridge, rail and hinge. Hopefully after shot show we will have the actual part #s and be able to take backorders. 4 color options red/blk/sage green/dark earth

Do we know for a fact if production is discontinued on the AT and AX 308 models? Or will AXSA still be available?
Asking because here it states the mil/LE model will replace the AT and AX 308. Will that be the only low end option for a factory 308? Since the model you state above is only 6/6.5 for US
Also will the Mil/LE model be available in US? Or to civilians in general

That's pretty sweet. So $1250ish more than the 2023 MAP of the ATX (probably would have been a price increase if it carried over) but you get over $600 worth of parts included with the hinge, rail, and bridge and a totally redesigned and upgraded action AND best of all you don't have to try to source a hinge that's been a unicorn.
I don’t think the AX308 has been available to civilians for a while now. Unless it was new old stock.

Im glad i got my gen 3 when i did and on sale. Now it was like having a coupon for 2k off. Lol
Mile high still has blue and red in stock at the 4200 sale price.
If you want an AI on the cheap get your checkbook ready, you’ll see some ATX’s being dumped for cheap over the next 6 months. I wouldn’t even be surprised to see them close to the $3K mark.
I think the AXSR style action is cool and definitely the direction they should move. But having just snagged a black gen 3 6 creed for $3999, Im not motivated to dump mine for this newest gen. These “old” actions feel like butter after some break in so I can’t imagine this new style being light years better. The Mil version does look cool though with the color-matched action.
I wonder if the AT-X MIL has the lightening cuts on the receiver the same as the AT-XC? I don't see from the pictures on AI's website the MIL version opposite the bolt...
Yeah mine as well, also wondering if the MIL is bonded. In the Comp/Pro model they go out of their way to say:
However this is missing on the MIL version. Now, I called AINA last year asking about bonding the action into the chassis and they said "no".
They explained it was not needed, nor was there room (allowance for the bonding agent). So, I wonder about the MIL version, since all the other MIL version are bonded I think? Not sure about the brand new ones, but I think they still are?
Finally, I have heard from people that the AXSA can be easily made very compact, where the AT-X can't. So for some people that is very important, but if they get rid of the AXSA and replace it with the MIL version of the AT-X I wonder if they plan to address easily removing handguard parts to make the rifle be able to pack small?

Is getting parts for existing rifles? Would love a complete bolt for a AT with SFP and replacement LFP themselves and they seem to be unobo
I left the AI booth @ SHOT and they mentioned the new Gen 4 will use a new receiver/bolt that WONT interchange w previous models.
Will prefit barrels still headspace the same?
I am guessing the answer is "YES", but we won't know until someone asks directly, or else they chime in here. Though the bolt and receiver are different, I expect the tennon dimensions are likely the same for the barrels - but who knows if they decided to change that as well at the same time...
Somebody should probably also ask about the new actions bedding block/surfaces.
the AXMC and axsr are the same so I would bet the AT and new short action are backwards compatible
I think one thing they posted in the AT-XC thread is the new action uses 6 bolts instead of 4 in the AT-X.
If you look close in the picture, you'll see that the "new" action is bolted into an AT-X chassis.

It's 100% confirmed from AI that it's 6 bolts instead of the current 4. Regardless of what is written on the side of a chassis in a pic.

But it doesn’t sit right that they take only that rifle to shot without a firing pin in it. For some reason that bothers me and makes me think the “improved” action isn’t anything to brag about
And let’s be honest. The $6500 model comes with what most of us add anyways. Only you can pick up a Gen 1-3 with those accessories for south of $4k in the px
I’m not saying they’re trying to deceive a customer. It is however ironic that they would know this action change will have some people interested. But the fact that they won’t have legit reports on how it operates until they have a backlog of pre orders irritates me

You’d think this show would be the chance to say “hey we listened” and let some gun guys handle the new model and brag it up
We all know what the other upgrades look like. The action is where I want to know what I’m getting for an extra 2 grand

Wait a year or two for the gen improvements to be released. The shit show ATX shouldn’t be forgotten. People paying full price just to watch new gens being pumped out for a discount. Completely ridiculous
My point was that it's bolted into an AT-X chassis. It says AT-X on the magwell, not AT-XC
I'm very happy with my AT-X. The new version raises the price $1250 dollars but includes a hinge and bridge that combined, cost $520 dollars. Despite AI's faults and missteps, I really like their rifles. But at $6500 dollars, the value is hard to see. I think I will dynamically spend my money on something else.
For the $6500 I could be into a completely new rifle with some Alpha glass and possibly enough money left over for a steak dinner and a beer
I like my AT-X. That being said, I shot one of my FN SPRs yesterday. For $1,400 - 1,700 new (non-A3G) plus a $850 rebarrel (all in). It was and is still one of the best values to ever hit the market.
It's not as smooth as my AI, and the McMillan stocks aren't as adjustable. However, it isn't giving up anything in accuracy, reliability and pure shooting enjoyment.
When I eventually get another rifle, I'll certainly be starting with a base action and assembling it myself. Like you said, you can put an entire rifle together yourself with pretty premium parts for $3,500 - $4K...and have enough left over for a good optic to throw on top.
I still regret not snagging a FN when TacCord blew them out

I’ll never sell the AT but for my next toy, I’m gonna get a local guy to spin me up a impact action and drop it into a chassis and rock on with another Steiner and have plenty of money left over for ammo
After having been to SHOT, IIRC the bolts are required to be removed from a safety standpoint. Some vendors get away with complete removing the firing pin - or use a modified firing pin that can't protrude into the headpace to set off a primer. I am guessing they wanted people to be able to handle the new version without having to one of the above to make it inoperable.

We’ve all seen the part you underlined in red. We’re trying to figure out if theres an AI cheaper than the $6500 ATX available after all of this.
It’s clear the AT won’t be. 308 AX won’t be. So assuming unless mil/le you’re limited to a $6500
