RULES:

1) Bolt action rifle in any caliber, any muzzle devices, any weight, any sights, 24 hour time limit.

2) Folding bipod or sand bangs only. No mechanical rests, no bench rests, no vice, no F-Class-style bipods. Any rear support (bags, monopods, squeeze-bags, etc).

3) This is going to be 100+ yard challenge. All measurements are going to be in MOA. Since some people think that 100 yards is boring or that VLD bullets aren't stable yet - you can submit entries at any distance past 100 yards (not closer).

4) 6 groups of 5 shots - 30 rounds total (more groups or shots OK - but will be counted in the average). Must be on ONE target. You can use any target that makes your shooting more pleasant. Make sure there is enough space between groups to distinguish them. Only average what counts!

5) Any member can have multiple entries, but there will be only one entry per rifle. You can try again with the same rifle and improve your standing. Or you can shoot a different rifle and have a separate entry.

6) This round is over on May, 31st 2014.

7) Please, be honest!!!

That's all.

ENTRY:

1) Please post a picture of your rifle as shot

2.a) Write your snipershide name on top of the target
2.b) Write distance to the target
2.c) Write the caliber you were shooting
2.d) Write the date the target was shot

3) Place a US Quarter in the middle of the target (away from groups, don't try to be funny and cover a flyer) and post picture of entire target showing all 6 groupings. You don't need to measure anything - just post the picture of target with a Quarter on it.

A Quarter is .955" and will be used as a reference in OnTarget software. I will personally run every entry through the software to the best of my ability. If someone wants to volunteer to double check my input - that would be great.

If you don't live in US - you can use any large coin of your choice with a diameter measurement.

SUMMARY:

Any bolt action rifle with a folding bipod or sandbags @ any distance past 100 yards.
Take a picture of your shooting rig.
Shoot 6 groups of 5 rounds in one day on one piece of paper.
Write your name, distance, caliber and date on the target.
Place a Quarter on the target and take a picture.
Post both pictures, add info as desired.
I will do the tedious measuring for you and post back in the thread and put you on the leaderboard.
Have fun. This is a good opportunity during load development - ladder or OCW.

EXAMPLE OF ENTRY:
Savage 223, hand loads with 60V-Max, 100 yards, Nikon scope.

I'd like to get in on this, but I am out of town for the next 3 weeks. Hopefully, there will be a round 4 with the same distance/rules once I get back (unless there haven't been 20 entries before then).

I like it. Will this be done again soon? I am in the process of moving and have all my reloading and shooting gear packed up. Probably be another month before I can get to shoot again.

This 8 target group was shot Thursday morning at 100 yards. The 2 center groups were shot with 168 smk's and IMR 4895 powder, the bottom and top 3 targets were shot with 155 smk's (2155) and IMR 4895 powder. The black dots are exactly 1/2". Barrel is a Bartlein 27" 5r chambered in 308 the receiver is a Marauder #3 of 4 with a PTG bolt, and the stock is a HS Precision from a Rem. 700 5r. Added, rifle used was the one in the front.

Sorry, was directed at MoBoost. Terrible when your day is cut short, especially by severe weather...

-MoBoost- I worked your target up in "OnTarget" but the text turns out so small in the picture when I try to upload it that you cannot read it. Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks for the help, here is your target:

I shot F-Class in the morning - and it was brutal, switch winds with let offs, flat mirage and flags wrapped around the poles! The club was busy - there was a match in every discipline except for benchrest (6 concurrent matches is pretty cool). By later afternoon, when I made it to the bench - the wind was strong but stable.

In OnTarget, you can get all the input done at high zoom ("+" button), after it's all done - press "-" button to unzoom, the text will get bigger, you have to use "Save View As Graphic" to maintain the size of the text. Or you can always "Alt+PrntScrn" to capture the window and paste it in your favorite picture editor, trim and then save.

Distance is 102 yds (yay LRF!) my math is probably wrong, and I probably can't use a set of calipers very well. I admit that from the get-go.

I only have one picture from the range, and its an artsy fartsy pic:

Can you do me a favor a take another pic 90deg from the target - when you take a pic at an angle it introduces perspective errors, and I would like to have the measurements as fair as possible. Thanks.

embarrassed but aside from my "shooting", I actually only put 4 rounds into group 4(unless one round flew 100% identical thru the same hole, possibly but unlikely imho), I have no remote idea how that happened since I brought 30 rds specifically for this task today. I'm heading out this week to shoot it again… Hopefully I make it in time to stay within this round

i agree, that's a possibility. Am I able to re-enter for this round(with same rifle, or must be different) or sit out till next?
You can re-enter the same rifle as many times as you want. You can enter with a different rifle as many times as you want. There are no limit on entries - same rifle will bump you on the standings, different rifle will get you a new entry.

If you want to - go put another round on #4 tomorrow, we'd consider it still within 24 hour period.

Just shot this.. Damn the rain.
100meters, couldn't do my 6th group closed for weather

Ghengis great groups but I noticed your fliers are always the exact same distance away from your one hole group. This could indicate something with your scope or something slightly loose somewhere in the chasis. It may not be, but the fliers are really consistent in their distance out on every group. You could be one torque short of bugholing every time!

Did a similar contest over on ar15.com. Had a decent session using a mix of FGMM and Hornady Steel Match. It's harder then most folks think to keep five or six groups of five shots all MOA on one target, in one session. Mine was an average of .881 MOA for the five groups of five.

Not sure how long this contest is going for, but I may have to try it out. Always need a good excuse to hit the range :)
Just need to get reloading what I shot this weekend.

Good eye there ; I figured it
Could be by sight picture or fundamentals .. I always seem to have 1 or 2 fliers that escape me.. In still working on correcting my cheek placement so I'm consistent every time.

If this is a mechanical failure how would I go about pmcs ? I don't believe it's the scope as I torqued it down with my dat wheeler recently and hit every screw several times
