Coup De Grâce, New Action from American Rifle Company, $899 WOW!

I've not heard of anyone ordering action and prefit. Given the actions are still on backorder, expediting sounds like a fiction. Plan to wait 12 weeks. My Preferred Barrel was close to that. Be pleasantly surprised if it arrives sooner. No point in calling or emailing - you won't find anything out about date. When your barrel goes into production, you'll get an email. It will arrive about 2 weeks after.
PBB had the action in stock when I bought it. The page for the actions says buying a barrel at the same time gets free expedited service. I can't find anywhere on their website that says what the expedited timeline actually is.

Good to know they'll email me when the barrel is getting made at least. I won't bother them with a call yet, its only been three weeks. I'm sure it'll come soon enough.

@Tokay444 and @Hennig - what was your Centurions originally inlet for?

@GBMaryland bought this from another fella. Can't remember what it was inlet for originally from Foundation but it wasn't a CDG specific inlet. Stock was made prior to CDG being issued, I believe.

Cheers
I missed this sorry - was inlet for the CDG.

You know, this explains why he will never let me into his house…. he doesn’t want me to see all the other dwarves!!!!!

<click>

It’s all so clear to me now….
I quit.

Yeah the Foundation that @GBMaryland bought was inlet for Impact, modified for Defiance, then custom hand-fucking-fit for his CDG.

Those of you who have had the action for a bit, how do you like the bolt handle?

I see that ARC has the classic bolt handle available as a separate part now, in addition to the hourglass handle that has been available for a while. I ordered both my actions with hourglass handles but I do like the look of the classic handle.

Fun day at the range today. Summarizing the adventure from the start.
  • Ordered the action ‘bout 2 days after the opening of sales.
  • Ordered a Xylo and wrench a few months later.
  • Ordered in various order… scope, rings, bag, mags, compensator, bipod, probably some more stuff I’m forgetting.
  • Ordered PBB 26” 6.5mm Creedmoor.
  • Built the gun but headspace was a bit off, PBB took care of me promptly.
Bore sighted freehand(eye?) at 50 yards. 5 rounds and adjusted my scope. 5 more rounds and adjusted again. 5 round group. Moved over to the 100 yard range and adjusted per ballistic app. 2 groups with small adjustments each. 3 more groups. With this being my first foray into precision shooting, I’m pretty satisfied. MOA results of 5 groups of 5 rounds: 0.74, 0.76, 0.96, 1.04, 1.10. Not necessarily in that order. I think my primary challenge is consistent shouldering and tension. I get a bit of muzzle hop that I need to figure out. Scheduled for a long range class in 2 weeks and hoping to establish good habits.

Action worked flawlessly. Magazines fed and cleared fine too.

Best and worst.

What ammo? i would imagine playing with loads/ammo should tighten that up, very nice for first try out the box.

Hornady 140 ELD Match. I figure right now half the uncertainty is me. I’m by no means an accomplished shooter, and I certainly have fewer rounds down range than I have in stockpile. So I’m going to stick to factory match grade for a little while. Perhaps for the first barrel. I think this setup *should* be capable of 0.5 MOA at 100 regularly. Once I get more groups in the 0.5 - 0.75 range I’ll feel a little better and tuned ammo might help a little. But that’s another investment and time sinkhole. I am collecting my brass though. :)

They had classic day one. That’s what I run on my Nucleus. My Archimedes is the odd one out now.

BTW, does anybody know the axis to rail dimension? I’m needing it for the ballistics apps.
Put the rifle in a vise or on a table w a bipod.

Open the bolt to just the extent needed to get the bolt face under the windage turret.

Use calipers to measure from center of windage turret to center of bolt face. May need to back the bolt up just a smidge to see firing pin hole in the center.

That’s you scope center height above bore.

Cheers.

Appreciate it. (y) I was hoping for the cheap/easy way out, but I have a decent caliper and can go that route.

How much easier can it be? Just asking. If you are planning on shooting any kind of precision rifle, plan on learning how to use calipers and other measuring devices on a regular basis. You will be glad that you did.

Well, reading 0.9” off an ARC drawing would have been easier… but I get what you’re saying.

I came up with 0.9” +- probably 0.1”. Without taking the scope off, it’s not possible to get my calipers perfectly positioned. That was to the rail. ARC specs my rings at 1.1”.

The height over bore can be measured with a tape measure. Close enough is close enough. 1/4” one way or another doesn’t even change the elevation .1mil at 1000 yds and I bet no one would measure even that far off. Either way, seems like you are good to go anyhow.

Yep, I wondered that too and 2.0” to 2.25” moves about 0.21 MOA at 1000 yd According to the app. Definitely a smaller deviation than I would notice at this point.

I have a long range class coming up…. Any suggestions for prep? I have sufficient ammo and rain gear. Notebook and pencil. Hornady 4DoF app baselined; just need to add muzzle velocity the morning of. Munchies and water. Usual range gear. I’ll probably make one more trip to the range between now and then to verify scope zero and tracking.

batteries for any electronics, a battery pack and cables too for your phone or anything else that is USB rechargeable

i saved the day with my last class. I had a 9 volt in my bag and the guys Magnetospeed needed one.

I don't know if it has been posted but with MPA's adoption of the ARC CDG, I hope we get larger traction with prefits like Proof.

They haven't even finished the opening week so I'd say that's optimistic. Still waiting on a RH LA from 2/10 plus a RH SA from 4/20
Yeah, sorry about the optimism. I do this thing where I figure an optimistic outcome and a very worst case outcome and allow for it if it falls anywhere in there.

Damn if I had known this was coming, I would’ve gotten one of these and saved the time 🤣

I have a 6mm Bartlein Barrel that I would like to have shouldered, coned, chambered, threaded, etc. Is there a comprehensive list of reputable companies that do this for CDG?
The coned breech was a curve ball for a few of us that were and are ARC fans. I think it may have been effective on some previous ARC actions and certain other actions and cartridges as well.
I know about search function but would like to hear from the wealth of knowledge here.
Any replies appreciated and thank's for your time.
