Could someone weigh the short action cooking force and report back?

I have a long action with the .535 bolt face and it takes 7 pounds 6 ounces to cock it. My short action origin takes 4 pounds even. I have not tested my Zues action yet, but it feels like it's closer to the CDG than the Origin.

The fact ARC dropped all their other actions, is a bit of a red flag. The nucleus was on its third iteration, the archimedes just always worked. Now the new latest/greatest comes out and all other sku's are gone, as well as their aics mag offering. How long till Tedd comes out with another new design and the CDG is an afterthought of the past? I own two of these and it's a serious question of mine.

Im sure Ted will, and im sure it will have innovations on the CDG.

It’s based on price. It’s more hyped because it’s cheaper. Had it been $1450 like all the rest, it would be just another action which does stimulate the got to have the newest crowd.

Taking a dig at them for sending out a new extractor, free of charge, when everyone was unaware there was even a problem in the first place, is dumb as shit.

My comment of how ARC has consistently revised an action with re-releases after the initial release is valid, and factual. We'll wait and see what happens with the CDG. If there is no redesigned version 1.2 or 2.0 within 2 years of production, I'll be surprised! You appear to be taking my comments(which have her zero implications to you personally) very close to your heart. Why are you so sensitive? Are you affiliated with ARC? Are you involved with their engineering? Private consultant in their testing? Do you have personal money invested in this company? I'm 40, sorry to disappoint your genZ fantasy. I paid my money, I can make my observations of a business and be critical of their products, because I use them, and have owned their predecessors. I believe Ted himself addressed the parts issue, although I cant link you to it. The answer was yes, he will continue to support the older actions. A quick skim through the site shows a bunch of Gen 1 nuke parts, which is an action inside your time window. He even has barloc parts, a product i’m pretty sure he isn't happy with. Everything I clicked on was in stock.

I actually called them a few months back once I caught word on the nucleus. They actually worded where they said they didn't discontinue the nucleus but not making any of them right now or the fore seeable future. They are 100% committed to the new CDG action. They also told me spare parts for them were never going to be an issue but even so if you bought a few claws and screws ect not much to replace.

We’re already on CDG 1.2. The trigger hanger has changed.

I am guessing one of the major innovations of the CDG is behind the scenes, in the way that it is produced that allows for significant cost savings.

Just a guess, however. And not really immediately relevant to the consumer beyond the cost savings.

There is something to be said to keep a product around a while (with gradual improvements) to allow an ecosystem to grow up around it. Harley motorcycles comes to mind.

I sort of get the feeling Ted is in his experimental phase, or rather in the fruition phase of an earlier experimental brainstorm. Maybe he’ll slow down and really let the market absorb his products like he’s done with his scope rings. I dunno

Agreed, that's been an industry standard with several bayonet style cocking pieces used by zermatt, bat machine and others for a long time now. ARC has just caught up that. That problem is the complexity in the ARC bolts, there's a shit ton of parts in there compared to say an equally functional crf bolt from Zermatt. Took a lot of engineering to get that feature integrated. I truly do appreciate the time and resources spent to get these new "near revolutionary" actions on the market. Pushing the ideas and boundaries of what a 700 clone can be, and what new ideas can be added to the mechanical system. Some processes in the system possibly weren't optimal or fully thought through, as new revisions and fixes are already here. I just hope the CDG keeps to its form and doesn't evolve into a new release and discontinuation of the original in a short time oder. I'm done talking on this subject, I have owned 5 arc actions, and will continue to own their products, doesn't mean I cannot be critical of what I own and use. I had an impact, was so underwhelmed with the "most popular action in the prs" I sold it within a season. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

The description that came with the extractors says it was large (magnum i think they said) cases combined with the bolt striking the bolt stop. Fair to say that most action in users hands at this point are short actions, some small number of longs. Id be curious to know who discovered it and under exactly what conditions. It would have been headline news if anyone here discovered it, alas nobody did it seems.

Take apart your extractor and check it out, or compare with the old parts. The new design would make it much harder for the extractor to climb out from under the detent pin vs the ball.

I've never had nor heard of an extractor failure. I'm running a standard 308 bolt face so it may be less of an issue. I also don't slam my bolt back hard against the stop.

I don't understand the trigger hanger change, other than needing additional clearance for some triggers what does adding the tabs to the trigger hanger do that the pins weren't doing.

Copy. Thanks. While I have some rounds through the action I cant say its been run hard. Its also a short action on a .260 so it sounds like I'd probably never have an issue. I have beat on the gun dragging it through the woods quite a bit but the bolt doesnt get slammed back and forth repeatedly.

When I first looked at the pointed pin setup I thought it was a bad idea, tolerance stack up nightmare.
