How’s the balance with the Vision forend? It must have a bit more weight than the stock one.
So with one of their weight kits mounted all the way out at the front and a bipod it is almost perfectly balanced with the 20" mtr barrel. Without the bipod you would need two sets of weights.

Also if you decide to get one I would stick with the vision weights because there is very little room for mlok due to the back bone of the chassis in there. The vision weights come with shorter screws and thinner nuts.

With all the mandatory reloads in NRL22 lately, I fired up the 3D printer and am testing a new mag coupler I designed. Working on getting quotes from a local machine shop for an aluminum version, but I'm not sure how much demand there would be for a group run of them... Thoughts?

That’s pretty sweet. Any chance you’re selling the .stl file or sharing it?

What’s going on the factory second Pro Varmint SR at Cabelas used gun library? Definitely not discounted for a factory second but maybe that means CZ is getting ready to send out a shipment of them?

Aluminum couplers are back from hard anodizing and ready to ship! PM me if you’re interested! $50 for the aluminum version, $15 for 3D printed, free US shipping. 100% Minnesota made.

I got to give them a good test a 2 day NRL-X and a few regular matches with no issues. I’ll have them at NRL22 Nationals as well - there might even be one going with a prize gun 🤘

What does the magwell on the XLR elements look like for the cz457? Is it a large funnel? From the side profiles on XLR’s sight it appears to be the same size as a regular short action.

I’m wanting to take off my At-one stock and sell it to be replaced by an XLR or the coming soon ACC gen 2 to match my other rifles.

Anyone here have a newer version (Gen 2) Grey Birch La Chassis? I was wondering how large of a barrel it can accommodate before any modification has to be done. On a whim I took advantage of the limited blowout deal they were having on them a few days ago.

CZ457 rabbit hole question.
Is it possible to successfully thread the action to receive a threaded shouldered barrel on a CZ457 similar to a Kidd Supergrade? Is the action so pared down or the differences in the metals too great to try something like this? Has anyone done this experiment?

Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks in advance.

Desert Precision Gunworks does this for sure and I think Zero Dark Precision as well.

I’ll answer my own question since they finally got back to me. For anyone who’s interested, the La Chassis can fit 1.25” barrel diameter. I’ll let everyone know for sure once I get my build done.

Does anyone have better details on how to install a "Silent Thunder Ordnance" mag well in a 455/457 KRG Bravo?
No instructions came with the mag well, no return email from the company. Web site just says:
"Installation is as simple as inserting the rear "hook" area under the front end of the trigger guard and then rotating the front of the magazine well downward. This is typically a snug friction fit, so while on our sample no adjustment was necessary, in some cases minor fitment +/- may be necessary."

The part is so wide at the hooks, no way it fits under the trigger guard. What am I missing?
Thanks

That is insanely awesome! You know we need more details 😋
CZ 457 Varmint 20" in a Krg Bravo back bone with a W3 folder and enclosed forend.
Area 419 30 MOA rail for a Spuhr with additionally 20 MOA cant for a total of 50 MOA which is a tad less than half of the total adjustability of the IOR Recon 4-28×.
Old random bolt knob rubber ball, a Atlas PRS bipod and a Ase Utra ECOi moderator.

A friend of my was looking for more weight up front for a Bravo based CZ457 he uses for Rimfire PRS. I roughed up an extra heavy spigot for him. A little ugly in its rough state but he is loving the new balance point. Comes in right around 4.5 pounds if I recall correct.

Thanks! I’m looking at options for a rig for my son to shoot matches with me. I wish CZ sold just barreled actions. Action screws supported only by wood isn’t something I want to mess with.
Even the pillars that are in the MTR stock are soft. If you want the best performance out of your 457 you need to pillar bed it.

Thanks! I’m thinking of going with an HB Industries chassis, like they used to offer on the now-discontinued varmint precision chassis rifle. The problem is, after getting the chassis set up like I want and whatever cz 457 I can find, you’re into B-14R money. BUT, it’s easier to add weight to a chassis, for balance, than it is to add weight to the hmr stock to that comes on a B-14R.

You do know that you can buy B14R barrelled actions don't you? The standard 18" steel ia about $650 and the 20" MTU SS is $1100. Then you can put in chassis of your choice.

Honestly I didn’t even think of that, mainly because I couldn’t find a barreled action and purchased the complete rifle for myself last year.

You can always sell the HMR stock, lots of people looking for one. The usually sell for $325-350 from what I have seen. There is a guy looking for one now on one of the forums.
